About this property

Ex Convent with 7 bedrooms close to town and super handy to mountain and trails.

Our 7 bedroom ex convent is a full Bed and Breakfast with a delicious continental breakfast served at the time you request. Please note: this is hosted accommodation. We live in a semi- separated part of the house and so will come through from time to time to clean bathrooms, collect laundry and service the areas. You have your own 4 bathrooms (2 shower rooms and two toilet rooms) , lounge and kitchenette and 7 bedrooms. The laundry is a shared space.

Stratford is a very convenient place to stay in that it is an easy drive to both Dawson Falls Visitor Center (25 minutes) or the Mountain Ski field and carpark at the end of Pembroke Road (20 minutes) , the many properties that are featured in our popular Garden festival and our wonderful attractions in New Plymouth
Our Lodge once was the local convent, home to the Sisters who used to teach at the local Primary School. As such, you will enjoy eating or relaxing in our Chapel dining room with its stained glass windows and high pitched ceiling.

Our kitchenette is mall but is packed with good appliances.There is a fridge, microwave, electric jug and most of the cook ware you need for the 2 ring hob. An electric frypan and a toasted sandwich grill are in the cupboards. On the bench is air air fry oven and an expresso machine can be taken out from under the bench. One empty cupboard with two shelves is available for storage of a small amount of packaged food.
Our one level house is easy to access from outside for those with disabilities but not easy access into the rooms for wheelchairs as doorways are narrow.
There is free carparking on site and a camera looking over the carpark and entrance door is turned on during your stay.

Smoking and vaping allowed outside only.
We do not charge a cleaning fee so expect the kitchen to be left clear and things tidied and put away.

The hosts Rosanne and Ross were extremely helpful right from booking all the way to check out. Comfortable and friendly

Rosanne is a great host who showed us lots of kindness and provided yummy breakfasts suitable for all. The rooms were comfortable and clean and the bathrooms and kitchen spotless. It's a great spot for visiting Taranaki and we would definitely recommend staying at Cadence.

We had a lovely time at the house for a family occasion - fitted all 11 of us in comfortably. Rosanne and Ross are great hosts, very accommodating and friendly, and the breakfast was great. Kids loved the added bonus on hanging out with the family pet in the yard. Perfect waking distance to town and local walks. We'll be sure to book again. Thanks so much!

Owner needs to state its a hostel..

It's a hostel. No where is it stated. After we made our initial booking were forced to book out the whole 'lodge' (7 rooms) for 3 guests when we were told it was still open to others.. The owners communication was unprofessional. Would not recommend

Was the perfect place

The property was well set out and perfect for us with mixed staff as there was a room for privacy each. Good breakfast and wonderful to come home to dinner ready. Rosanne was a wonderful host. Will be back :)

Stepping into the softy tone, walking of the life of a traveller, no wonder what it is, no wonder where it is! Just the same old stuff of custom. Feel the warmth, let the mood be. Whatever there is, wherever there is. Lying on the softy bed, letting free... Just the wind vane, letting the natural way. Bush, plants fill the scene. Sky blue all over the new two-day year.
