Great stay
House was perfect for our family get-together. Very child-friendly and pet-friendly. Easy to walk to Roche Harbor, my son-in-law enjoyed early morning runs, and neighborhood very quiet and peaceful. Two afternoons at Roche Harbor pool were Kitchen set-up fantastic, we cooked most meals at home, and enjoyed eating meals outside, or enjoying coffee on the patio in the morning. Our four-year grandson loved roasting marshmallows at the campfire set-up, and he liked the hammock for afternoon reading. A great week for our family.

Great stay
Very clean and comfortable for a six night stay. The space worked well for two adults and an infant, but would be tight for two couples (the second bedroom is smaller and a shared bathroom). We enjoyed the grill and outdoor seating as well as the record player! One suggestion - replace the high top bar table with a regular dining table with a bit more space (and easier for families).

Great Property
This house was perfect for us. We have two small children (2 and 5) and needed a home that was large enough to accommodate all of us, but not too big to price us out. This two bedroom home is great for families. It has a full kitchen, living room, large bathroom and master bedroom. It's about a mile from Roche Harbor so it's either a nice walk (too far for us with small kids) or a very short drive. It is beautiful and we will likely be going back. Trini (the owner) is super responsive and friendly. Overall, fantastic place to stay!

Great rental and walkable to Roche Habror
The property is as described with a well stocked kitchen, dog friendly property (with water and food bowls), clean interior, and quality appliances (washer/dryer, dishwasher, bluetooth stereo, and tv). It's a great walk to Roche Harbor for morning donuts (about a mile each way), when the weather cooperates. The check-in was simple and the owners were easy to communicate with. We would gladly stay here again.

About the host

I've worked for 30+ years in property management including managing my own personal investment properties. 15 of those years have also been spent managing vacation rental properties. So, buying homes on San Juan Island and Camano Island were no-brainers when we were afforded the opportunity. I love everything about the Pacific Northwest - the beer, weather, forests, rivers, ocean, people (about in that order). My wife and I bought Due West and later Salt Box because we especially love the islands and visit whenever we get the chance. We're happy to share our homes and hope guests get to enjoy them as much as we do.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with the islands a few years ago - and San Juan Island specifically as it has that old world charm yet all the modern conveniences that the other islands don't. The Roche Harbor neighborhood is our jam as it's just far enough away from all the touristy hustle-bustle of the downtown Friday Harbor area, but still close enough to some great restaurants and activities. The plan is to retire here, but, alas, we can't do that quite yet.

What makes this property unique

We chose this house because we wanted something very secluded and modern where we could get away from it all, yet close enough to bike to a restaurant in the evening or get fresh seafood right from the boat to bring back and grill. We couldn't have picked a better location in our opinion. And, having those 2 acres to watch wildlife is pretty spectacular, too. There's nothing better in this world than sipping your coffee from the comfort of your couch, looking out the window and seeing a sweet little fawn or fox staring back at you.
