About this property

Lakeside Abode at Taylor Bay | Lake Eildon

Wake up to uninterrupted views across Lake Eildon, surrounded by native bushland, abundant wildlife and the peaceful beauty of Taylor Bay.

Set on a private acre at the end of Taylor Bay Left Arm Road, Lakeside Abode is a beautifully refreshed Canadian Pan Abode cedar cabin in picturesque Kookaburra Cove. With deep-water frontage, the lake is right at your doorstep — perfect for swimming, fishing, kayaking, water sports or simply sitting back and enjoying the lake views.

Close to Melbourne yet wonderfully secluded, Lakeside Abode is made for relaxing weekends, family holidays and time away with friends.

The home has been thoughtfully designed to make the most of its spectacular setting. Vaulted ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows fill the home with natural light and frame beautiful views of Lake Eildon and the surrounding native bushland.

The spacious open-plan living and dining area opens onto a large timber deck, creating an effortless indoor-outdoor space for long lunches, sunset drinks and lazy afternoons. Inside, the warmth and character of the classic cedar cabin are complemented by contemporary comforts, custom-made furniture and comfortable leather lounges. It’s the kind of place where you can settle in, switch off and genuinely enjoy being together.

The home sleeps 6 people perfect for a family, two couples or a small group of friends, and includes:
• Two bedrooms, each with beautiful views of the surrounding native landscape
• Two bathrooms
• Electric blankets, doonas and pillows on all beds
• Spacious open-plan living and dining
• Large indoor and outdoor dining tables
• Expansive timber deck with hammocks and deck chairs
• Wood heater for cosy winter evenings
• Air conditioning and ceiling fans
• BBQ
• 65-inch TV
• Wi-Fi
• Table tennis
• Board games for all ages
Please bring your own linen and towels.

The fully equipped kitchen makes self-catering easy. The kitchen includes a 900mm gas cooktop and oven, full-sized refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, rice cooker and sandwich grill. There’s also a BBQ for relaxed outdoor meals overlooking the lake.

One of the unique pleasures of Lakeside Abode is the wildlife that shares the property. Kangaroos, parrots, rosellas, cockatoos and kookaburras are frequent visitors, creating a wonderful bush experience right outside your door. We provide bird seed, and don’t be surprised if some of the colourful locals come close enough to feed from your hand.

With deep-water frontage, the lake remains accessible regardless of water level. Spend your days swimming, fishing, kayaking or enjoying water sports, or simply find a quiet spot by the water and take in the serenity.

There is no jetty or pontoon at the property, however guests are welcome to moor their boat at the front of the property using the provided mooring stakes. There is plenty of room to turn a boat around and store a trailer on the property. For boat launching, we recommend the Alliance Boat Ramp in Eildon or the Main Ramp at Lake Eildon National Park.

Lakeside Abode is located at the end of Taylor Bay Left Arm Road. Please note that the final three km of the journey is along an unsealed gravel road. The property is accessible by 2WD, with undercover parking for two vehicles. If you are towing a boat, we recommend a 4WD or AWD for easier access.

Whether you’re looking for an active weekend on the water, a peaceful bush retreat or simply a beautiful place to reconnect with family and friends, Lakeside Abode offers the perfect combination of comfort, nature and genuine lakefront living. Cosy up beside the wood fire in winter. Spend summer afternoons on the deck lounging in the hammocks. Get out on the water during the day, then return and watch the sunset over Lake Eildon.

Pets are welcome, although please note that the property is not fenced.

Early check-in and/or late check-out are often possible and will be confirmed a few days before your stay.

Come and experience the serenity of Lakeside Abode — a private slice of Lake Eildon where the view, the wildlife and the lake are all part of your stay.

We were very impressed with this stay, as it was clear that the host goes above and beyond to ensure a quality experience. The house had a characterful charm, private, quiet and was well equipped throughout. There was no stinginess, it was very generous with extras - and the views just spectacular!!We highly recommend this property and will be returning.

Great stay, the house is in an amazing location and was really relaxing and peaceful. The house has everything we needed and is really well equipped. The kids loved the bird feeder and sitting out on the deck watching all the different birds. There's lots of games which we loved and we all, including the dog, felt right at home. The lake itself is lovely although it was a bit dirty trying to get out without the use of a jetty/pier as stated in the house rules not to use them. It was quite slippery on the mud for our little ones so might be good to have an option to use to get out onto the water. Overall though really enjoyed the stay

We had a great stay! The property had everything we needed and was very easy to access and communicate with owners .The drive up was a little steep, but totally worth it for the beautiful views once you arrive. It was so nice to sit back and enjoy the peace and quiet, with the added bonus of hearing the local wildlife and birds. A really lovely spot for a relaxing getaway. Thank you Paula .

We really enjoyed our time at Lakeside Abode. It was clean and comfortable and the views were spectacular. The only negatives were that the main access road was quite narrow and a bit dangerous and tv reception was very limited and radio coverage nonexistent.

we had no communication with the host. The house was not clean, for example, dog hair on the carpet, no dust bins in the toilets, and bedrooms, mold smell in the secondary bathroom, the freezer was full of old inedible food, which did not make us want to use the freezer. As for the fridge, we had no idea how old was the food there. We were asked to clean the place and to take our garbage. It seems like the place is handled mainly by the guests. This is not expected for such a price.

Regarding communication, I sent you an extensive welcome message a few days prior to your stay, there was detailed information in the house and I provided my contact number and welcomed calls if you had any issues. I am not sure what more communication you wanted. We are a dog friendly property (as per our listing) but we clean the house very thoroughly between stays. We don't believe bins are necessary in the bedrooms and toilets, it's not far to walk to the kitchen bin. The freezer has some frozen food in it which is not inedible and there is plenty for room for guests to also use the freezer. There are a few condiments and sauces in the fridge, all within date and taking up only the space of half a door shelf in a very large fridge. Most of our guests are grateful for the items that we supply such as cooking oils, herbs and spices, tea and coffee and sauces and condiments if they wish to use them. We do not ask our guests to clean the house and we do not expect our guests to "handle the place". The only thing we ask them to do is to take their garbage to the local garbage depot. This is clearly explained in the listing and is a property rule that you agreed to. As explained in our listing, the council does not provide an onsite garbage collection. All residents and guests need to use the depot. Our cleaner is not able to do this and we cannot guarantee that we can travel to the property to remove garbage between guest's stays. It is standard practice in Taylor Bay for all short stay guests to use the depot. We spend a lot of time and effort on maintaining and improving the house and property and pride ourselves on supplying our guests with a fabulous stay in a magnificent location.

The incredible views and beautiful location made our family holiday such a special experience. The location couldn’t have been better, providing the perfect setting to relax and enjoy some quality family time.My only suggestions would be to have the heater/split system serviced, or perhaps provide an additional way to warm the bedrooms during the cooler months. It would also be great to have a little extra timber provided for longer stays.Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily come back again.

From the moment we booked, everything was so easy and stress-free. Paula’s communication throughout was helpful and supportive. The property had such a calming, cosy atmosphere that instantly made us feel like we were on holiday. The beautiful views were the perfect backdrop for a relaxing getaway, and the kitchen was incredibly well stocked with everything we needed.Being able to bring our dog meant the world to us, as he’s such an important part of our family. Even though the weather was rainy, we still had an amazing time making memories together, especially playing Monopoly and enjoying the fantastic selection of family games provided. It was one of those places that was genuinely hard to leave. We can’t wait to come back!
