The host was super friendly and easy to communicate with. Expectations were easy to understand and the home was great. I had a hard time getting the stove to heat up but was eventually able to figure it out. When booking, I wasn't aware that the basement was a separate unit, but it didn't affect me or my stay. Overall, I'm very happy with both the property and the host. All went smoothly on my end.

Host sent us check in information for other travellers, conflicting with the unit we rented. We communicated to the host that we were arriving at night, they had no lights on on our arrival, out flight was delayed and we arrived at 12:30AM. When we arrived we went to the backyard based on the first check in instructions we received, then saw the check in instructions repeated but addressed to someone else, we were immediately concerned that we were entering into someone else's rental and disturbing their stay.A third set of check in instructions were sent, but not named to me. The unsafe feeling strengthened at the continued incompetent communication from our hosts. We didn't feel they had our safety in mind or care about sharing their home with usI called the host 5 times, first 4 calls were sent to voicemail, 5th call they answered and I told them I was upset. My family is in a different city, dark, without visibility and no clear instructions, they apologized and blamed VRBO systems. I accepted the apology and explained how unsafe we felt and unprofessional the host was. Interesting how they were insulted at the truth. I asked why they didn't leave a light on for us, they blamed someone else, the gall.No refund, no cares and not reasonable, we left early on the morning as the Host clearly didn't care about our safety as long as they had our money.Dirty sheets, hole in the drywall, dented closet doors, wall plates falling off the wall, unrepaid damage...
