Bats living in the ceiling upstairs making noises at night. Sewage over flowing in backyard. Downstairs bed sinking in, couldn’t get comfortable to sleep. Can see daylight through walls. We paid for 4 nights but left after 3 nights due to the conditions.

Response from VrboOwner on 26 Jan 2026
We want every guest to enjoy a comfortable and worry-free stay, and we're sorry to hear that this experience didn’t meet expectations. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share a few details:- The septic system was professionally serviced just before your stay and is functioning as expected. Heavy rainfall during your visit may have caused temporary standing water in the backyard, unrelated to the septic system itself.- The home is a classic log cabin nestled in the woods, and while we understand certain noises can be unsettling, the property does not have an attic, and there has never been any evidence of bats—only occasional wildlife activity on the roof, which is not uncommon in wooded areas.- The owner and local management team did not receive any messages during the stay and were not made aware of any issues or your early departure. They would have welcomed the opportunity to assist in real time and work to improve your experience. We appreciate you bringing these concerns to light, as it helps us and the homeowner ensure the property continues to meet guest expectations.
