About this property

River Roost is family-friendly

An awe inspiring view, perch on the Bear River cannon on the Nevada County side. The River Roost provides a perfect place to get away from it all, but a grocery market is just minutes away on Highway 49. The sound of the rushing river will lull you to sleep. Guests are catching small mouth bass on the river. Swimming pool or swimming hole, it’s your choice. Due to the drought the water is moving very slowly. (If you have a compromised immune system I would stick with the swimming pool) The Roost has one queen size bed, with one bathroom, living area, two dining areas and an office area with Ethernet internet connection. The terrain is steep in the canyon of the Bear River. There is River access. The view is unobstructed and free of other homes, except for a six million dollar estate down, across the River down stream on top of the mountain.

Thoughts
Property was nice away from the noise of traffic accommodation and bed were very comfortable driveway a little difficult overall good stay only thing I didn’t like and I don’t know if it was Vrbo or the owners raised the price $100 total from what was quoted on the Vrbo site…

The hosts were very friendly and helpful and a pure delight! Tucked away in a quite little canyon with a lovely river of rushing waters, it was a beautiful location with nothing lacking for the accommodations. A real treat! Only wish I was able to spend more time there as I was in the area for work, not vacation. Highly recommend.

About the host

My husband and I are retired. We chose to live in a place that we would have gone RV camping. It’s so peaceful here and so much privacy.

Why they chose this property

This 5 acres is a little slice of heaven. The natural habitat and negative ions from the Bear River, provide a calm and peaceful place to live. We decided to share it instead of keeping it all to ourselves. We bought this property site unseen when we were back east. We are Native Californians.

What makes this property unique

The River Nest has a birds eye view atop the mountain. The Photos do not do it justice. This Farmhouse was built in 1974. We chose to restore it to its former glory. It’s taken a decade, but the outcome was very satisfying. The location on the Bear River in the foothills. The main attraction to this property is the beautiful mountain setting.
