Restored 1881 church for two, valley views, 30 minutes from Hobart
A restored 1881 timber church on a hill above Collinsvale, all yours for two. One big light-filled room under a soaring vaulted ceiling: queen bed, leather lounge, dining for two, full kitchen and a fully renovated bathroom. Paddocks and bush all round, Wellington Park walks 10 minutes away, MONA 20 minutes, Hobart`s waterfront 30. Heat pump, wifi, self check-in, parking at the door.
The church opened in August 1881, held services until 1973 and has been carefully brought back to life. The original timber floors, tall sash windows and vaulted ceiling are all still here, now painted white, so the whole place glows on a sunny day and feels calm on a grey one.
It is one open room, about 9.5 m by 5.5 m, set up for two adults: a queen bed under the far window, a leather couch and TV around the rug, a dining table for two and a wardrobe. A heat pump warms the whole space quickly (give it half an hour on a cold night) and keeps it cool in summer.
The kitchen sits at the entry end: fridge-freezer, dishwasher, induction cooktop, convection microwave, toaster, kettle and a Nespresso pod machine. There is no conventional oven, so think simple meals rather than roasts.
The bathroom is separate and fully renovated: bath with overhead shower, wall-hung basin, and a washing machine so you can pack light.
Outside it is quiet. The church sits on its own block beside its original churchyard, with paddocks, bush and the hills of Wellington Park around you. Park on the gravel at the door.
The whole church and the yard are yours. Self check-in with a key safe; the code comes with your check-in message.
Worth knowing before you book:
