Woodland Hills Get A Way

Woodland Hills is a beautiful location. This house is suitable for large groups with children and pets. The back yard is huge and house is roomy. We only had 5 adults so lots of room for us. Great kitchen.

Stayed for one night, no propane grill was dirty. Inhad to buy a new propane bottle. Which i left at the property. The property is old but it does the job, decent sized back yard with pleanty of space. The price is a huge rip off tho.

Front and backyard could had some landscaping done and bbq grills could of been cleaned ..inside of the house was a little dusty but other than that it was a nice stay

Great place for a small gathering

Great place for a small gathering. Plenty of beds and nice living room spaces for chatting and talking. The interior of the house was older and perhaps in need of some upkeep and not as pictured. It was a little hard to get in touch with the host before the stay, but Yi was very responsive during the stay. The backyard could use some upkeep and is not as pictured in the listing. The organization of the furniture is also not as pictured. For the price point, I wish the house looked more like what was pictured on the Vrbo website. But it served its purpose.

Slow, poor communication almost lead to a disaster.

The property itself was as described, but pretty messy with stuff all around. We mainly cared about using the backyard for a short after wedding sendoff. We described how we wanted to use the property, but the Host seemed confused and tried to add big fees, imply we could not have a small fire, etc. Working with the hose was very stressful.

Nice space, great backyard, great owner

The home has plenty of space and a beautiful backyard, which is what I was looking for. I had everything I needed. Also, I accidentally left some valuables at the property, and the owner was kind enough to find them and mail them back to me. I very much appreciate it! Would stay again for sure.

Amazing home

This was the best home me and my group could have stayed in for our celebration, the neighborhood was very nice and the home was so spacious. Very beautiful views. Love love love it~!

Clean, Spacious and Comfortable home with a Communicative host

I stayed at this property with some friends last weekend. In the days leading up to our stay, Yi was very responsive, and more than happy to answer any questions I had. Our check in process could not have been easier, and upon arrival the home was just as clean and spacious as it looks in the photos. We greatly appreciated the small touches such as coffee and a snack bowl. The backyard is huge and the perfect place to share a meal or just relax. I would stay here again anytime I am in the area!

Overall we loved it. Big place. Really nice. It did however look a lot newer and cleaner in the pictures. It was not that well taken care of. But we loved it and the host was very responsive and sweet.

The place was dirty. The dishes in the cabinets were dirty. The house was musty. Communication on how to get in was poor. I wouldn’t recommend.

Bad stay

Communication already wasn't good with this owner.I had a gathering for my birthday and she showed up to the house without asking, threatening to come in the house, so we had no privacy.Wasn’t nice or respectful at all and I feel like prices were being made up along the way.The house and backyard are WAY smaller then pictures with brown dead grass in the back.

Disappointing

The pictures do not reflect the home at all. Kitchen counter crumbling in places held together with tape in another spot. AC was not working when we arrived it was 90 degrees outside. We were told that the AC freezes up if used more than a couple of hours a day. The number of box fans in the house suggests this is an ongoing problem. Not worth the price.

Not that clean

Our stay at the Topanga Retreat was enjoyable enough. However, we were surprised at the clutter in the house - especially in the garage. Looked like a hoarder's house as you couldn't even get into the garage for the "stuff" that was in it. The washer wasn't working and the owner did not notify us of this issue before we arrived. The kitchen was dirty and we had to run utensils, dinnerware, cookware, etc., through the dishwasher before we could use them. Needless to say, the kitchen was cleaner when we left than it was when we arrived. Also, there is no cable or satellite television. A cheap digital antenna was in the main living room, but the TVs in the bedrooms had no reception. Fortunately, I had a Fire Stick that allowed my family to watch television. This could be a very enjoyable place to stay if the owner will invest a little time and money into cleaning and updating it.

Beware - Not As Advertised

I have so many details I want to share, but can’t due to the character limit. It is not well cleaned, there is SO much stuff (chairs, beds, mattresses, tables, etc.) everywhere inside and outside. All of it is dirty and very used. The AC runs but you will get very little cool air. The TV’s barely work and cannot be updated to use apps like Netflix or Hulu. There is so much random junk in all the drawers, cabinets and closets. There was mold on some of the furniture. Most of the furniture and “art work” is clearly from hotels after it had been used for a long time. There are fans and lamps all over but less than half of them actually work. The electrical fixtures are old and plugs fall halfway out on you. One outlet behind a couch sparked at us when trying to plug in a fan. There’s a bunch of random chairs on the back deck, lounge chairs in the back yard are covered in dirt and debris. There were four or five grills in various states of decay. Overall, this place is gross. DO NOT TAKE YOUR KIDS HERE! This place is probably only good if you want to party hard with a bunch of people and are up to the risk of it catching fire on you. The host was somewhat responsive, but unhelpful with even the small issues we found at first. As the two days went on, I saw no point in communicating with her further. We couldn’t find another place, so we toughed it out. It made our skin crawl.

Lovely house with nervous neighbors

This house was such a beautiful and spacious place for me and my large group of friends. There were plenty of comfortable surfaces to sleep on for the entire group of 15 people! The kitchen was cute and functional, the backyard was spacious and gorgeous, and the bedrooms were cozy. The only issue with this rental was the neighbors. There was a basketball hoop in the backyard so we decided to shoot around. The ball went over the neighbors fence and my friends went to ring the neighbors doorbell to see if we could get it back. The neighbors were unreasonably intimidated by my friends request for the ball back, so they complained to the host and threatened to call the police. The host was very understanding that the reaction was unreasonable and I really appreciated the way the host communicated with me about the situation. The host also explained that usually those neighbors don't have any issues with people staying in the rental. Guess we caught them at a bad time! In the end, we still had a wonderful stay for our New Years celebration and no police were called :). I would recommend this rental for everyone!

Disappointed

I hate to give a less than stellar review, but I believe future guest should be warned of anything less than an excellent stay. To begin, check in time was supposed to be at 4:00pm. We asked but weren’t granted early check in, which is fine since that was never guaranteed. However we didn’t even receive a response with check in instructions until we arrived at 4:00pm from host in person, who was still there cleaning until about 4:30pm. Upon arrival we discovered a shattered sliding glass door, that went to the backyard, that had been boarded up with plywood on one side and had some sort of sheet attempting to hide it on the other. There was absolutely no prior indication that the property was damaged before discovering it ourselves. When questioned, host claimed someone bumped it and brushed it off as if it was insignificant. We hosted a small dinner reception, that we got approved by host, and this was quite embarrassing to say the least. Also the master bedroom balcony is unsafe and a hazard to put it lightly. Three women stepped out on the balcony and it sounded like it was about to come down. When inspected, its support beam underneath is clearly cracked all the way through, and it’s only a matter of time until a guest takes a two story fall. Making a major selling point off limits the whole trip. The final complaint is that the two garbage bins were completely packed and in the street when we arrived, so we had absolutely nowhere to put trash for our 3 day stay. There wasn’t even extra kitchen trash bags to fill up. These are things you wouldn’t think you’d be dealing with when renting, or at least given fair warning prior. Despite all this we still had the decency to clean and leave the house as we came, if not a little better(besides said trash bags that we had nowhere to put). Other than that the stay was fine as we made the best of the situation, it was just extremely hard to look past all of the faults we encountered. Again, I hate to leave a bad review, house could be great with everything fixed and useable.

Without a doubt the worst experience I've ever had

There were so many problems with this rental, all I can do is urge anyone looking to stay here to NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. First off, I received no check in instructions at all. I had to call and text the number provided multiple times in order to finally get a hold of the owner. When she finally answered, she said she was at the house dealing with a water issue. This was 30 minutes before check in. She still did not give me any check in instructions, only asked when I would like to arrive. I let her know that I would've liked to arrive at check-in but would wait for the issue to resolve. Fast forward to 4 hours after check in, and she is still at the house. The water issue is dealt with, but now I walk into a house that feels like a hot box. She now decides to tell me that the air conditioning is broken. It is July in Los Angeles so that is just absolutely unacceptable. She has bought the standing air units but we need to leave all the doors open so the exhaust goes outside. So they do not do much to cool, especially in 90+ degree heat in the afternoon. She proceeds to act like this is no problem when I am already dripping sweat having been there for 5 mins. The upstairs only has one AC unit so the other two bedrooms just had to deal with a fan pushing hot air around. It was impossible to sleep at night. On top of that, she required us to empty the trays underneath the AC units since they leaked and would probably fill up with water. This was an insane ask and something that we had to deal with and clean up the entire weekend. I told her then and there that I would expect a credit, since not only was check in late but this AC issue was not at all what was promised and I wasn't alerted about it at all until I actually checked in. I spent far too much on this rental and it came with no central air and she thought a measly amount would cover the inconveniences. Lastly, a week after the rental period she contacts me and says she found a dark spot under one of the AC units and wants the damage to be repaired by VRBO so she is going to put it on my booking but tells me "not to worry" since I have damage protection. I had nothing to do with this dark spot on the wood, if anything it's from her AC units leaking water constantly. She is trying to rip off not only the renters, but VRBO as well and she shouldn't be able to rent at all
