Big Sky Lodge | Luxury Hot Tub & Long-range Views of Lake Lure!

Located in the private, gated community of Gateway Mountain, a 3,000-acre nature preserve, Big Sky Lodge provides ample space and convenient comforts to ensure the perfect getaway for family and friends. Close to all that Western North Carolina has to offer in way of attractions and activities, you can easily travel to town for entertainment or stay on the mountain to enjoy exclusive amenities. As a guest in this secluded and scenic community, you'll have access to lush wooded forests, gorgeous waterfalls, and stunning mountaintop vistas along with two small lakes and a trout pond for catch-and-release fishing (no license required).

This nature-filled haven is teeming with plant life and wildlife that you can enjoy firsthand at your leisure. On the main level, you'll find a large great room with floor-to-ceiling windows, a stone fireplace (please use Dura-flame logs only), a pool table, a dining room that seats 6, and a state-of-the-art kitchen with a smooth surface stove, stainless steel refrigerator, large farmhouse sink, and additional table that seats 4. You'll also find 2 bedrooms (full-size beds) and a full hall bath. Upstairs, you'll find a charming loft area with seating that is perfect for taking afternoon naps or reading books from the built-in wall library. Just off from the loft, you'll find the master bedroom (king-size bed) and luxurious en suite bath that includes a jacuzzi tub and walk-in shower. Downstairs, you'll find 2 additional bedrooms (1 queen size bed and 2 twin size beds), a full bath with a walk-in shower only, a laundry room, and a spacious den with a smart TV.

Big Sky Lodge is conveniently located on Old Fort's Gateway Mountain just 7 miles from Interstate 40, placing it near the large city of Asheville (50 minutes away) that is home to the famous Biltmore House and Mast General Store and the resort town of Black Mountain (15 miles away) that offers antique shops, boutiques, and delicious restaurants. It's also just 20 short minutes away from Marion, another quaint town with even more options for food and activity, while the beloved Catawba Falls trail is just 12 miles away. A scenic 30-minute drive south takes you to Lake Lure, where there's no shortage of family-fun activities. In addition to a swimming beach, there's a water park, twilight dinner cruises, boat tours, and boat rentals (paddle and pontoon). After enjoying time by the water, head over to Chimney Rock, Mount Pisgah, or Mount Mitchell State Parks which are also nearby, or take advantage of the golf courses in one of the beautiful towns mentioned above. Continue south for another 45 minutes, and you'll find the charming town of Hendersonville and the historic Flat Rock Playhouse. Big Sky Lodge is in the perfect location to offer you privacy and serenity while still being close enough to neighboring towns to provide you with endless options for activities and adventures so you can enjoy the best of both worlds during your vacation.

Beautiful long weekend
We had a peaceful long weekend in Big Sky Lodge. Much larger house than expected with great entertainment room in the center of the home. Beautiful long view of the valley and great hot tub and well stocked kitchen equipment to make a meal at home. The neighborhood is far from restaurants but between Lake Lure and other outdoor activities so just plan ahead if you want to dine out. The rental company was great about contacting us with plenty of details before the stay so we had everything we needed for a relaxing trip

A Remarkable Place to Unwind
Our family experienced one of our best vacations at this cabin. The location is secluded, but within a pleasant drive of all the recreational opportunities that Chimney Rock, Lake Lure, Black Mountain, Asheville, and the Blue Ridge Parkway have to offer. With the exception of one heavy thunderstorm which blew a multitude of branches and debris onto the deck from the surrounding trees, we were blessed with beautiful weather and the stargazing was amazing. The accommodations were peaceful and relaxing and we enjoyed visiting the community waterfall and fishing pond, playing pool, soaking in the pristine water of the well-maintained hot tub, sitting by the fire, and just rocking on the porch listening to the melody of the windchimes as they fluttered in the breeze. Our teen liked having his own bedroom, bathroom, and comfortably furnished living space in the expansive walkout basement. Overall, the home was exceptionally clean and our stay was 5 stars up until approximately 10 minutes before we departed when we removed the bedding from the beds on which we slept as requested. Upon taking the still white sheets off the bed where our teen had slept, we discovered multiple dark stains on the mattress pad beneath. We left a brief note expressing our disappointment, but no one ever responded. Hopefully, the stains were residual after laundering, but if stains cannot be removed in the wash, such items should be replaced for guests’ peace of mind. Otherwise, we had a delightful time here and we are grateful to the owners for making this property available for us to create wonderful memories.

Greybeard Rentals manages vacation rentals and vacation cabins in Asheville, Black Mountain, Montreat, Old Fort and surrounding areas. Located 10-15 minutes from downtown Asheville, Black Mountain is a quaint town with many great shopping options, delicious restaurants, breweries and access to hiking trails and wilderness areas. TripAdvisor named Black Mountain one of America's Prettiest Towns in 2017. Asheville is home to award-winning restaurants, stunning mountain views with access to areas like the Blue Ridge Parkway, The Biltmore Estate, and a variety of local art and culture. Oh, and did we mention Asheville has had the record for having more breweries per capita than any other U.S. city? We held the title for Beer City USA in 2009. Hiking trails are also located throughout western North Carolina.
