Great Place Centrally Located

This is a great little house in a safe neighborhood. The house was just as described and the host was helpful and responsive. We would love to stay here again when we are back in San Diego.

Successful first time VRBO stay

We had a great stay. Mary was very accommodating and let us check in a bit early to coincide with our flight arrival. The house is very toddler friendly. Beds are comfy and the kitchen has a good selection of dishes, cutlery, and pots and pans, etc. We’d definitely stay again when in the area.

Quiet and comfortable

This was a wonderful place to stay. It was clean, quiet, and comfortable. There was plenty of street parking in addition to a driveway. It is close to a freeway and getting to and from many attractions and restaurants in San Diego was easy. Check in/out was easy and straightforward. Would definitely stay again if I need a place to stay in San Diego.

Great location

House was clean and had everything you would need. Great central location. We had to go to Santee, Carmel Valley, Sea World and Balboa park and it was all within 15 mins. The only issue we had was master shower needed a new hose to connect the shower head but that should be an easy $10 fix.

Pleasant Stay With Family

Convenient location (under 20 mins to all San Diego attractions). The house was clean, with all basic amenities. Nothing fancy, but a nice home with enough room for 4 adults and 2 kids. Clean linen and towels. In-house laundry would have been convenient, but there is a nice laundromat at walking distance.

Mary is a superstar and the house is beautiful, comfortable, and clean! My friends and I were scrambling to find a new stay after being unsatisfied with our previous accommodations (from a different website). I reached out to Mary about this stay and she was extremely accommodating, amazing at communication, and made sure we were taken care of! The house is suited for a family with children, however, it was also an amazing stay for our graduation hangout. The beds were comfy, beddings were clean, bathrooms were great, kitchen had all the essentials, AC was amazing, and living room was a great social area. No complaints at all and would stay again!

Quiet neighborhood, easy quick access to freeways

The process of renting this property could not be easier. I rented listing myself as a single guest knowing the possibility existed other adult family members might/would join me, not knowing for sure if or when, it depended on their work schedules and such, but I knew they’d arrive by Saturday. Owner was flexible about it with me and eased my worries. The house is ready for any combination of family makeup with assortment of comfy beds in different sizes. Clean, crisp, fresh linens; smooth wood floors, tiled bathrooms - the emphasis on easy cleaning. I appreciated that! I will definitely return!

We stayed for three weeks. The house was very clean and child proof, which was great for us. The bathroom remodels are lovely. The water was hot and the pressure was great. The neighborhood was very hit and miss as far as home upkeep, but I felt safe and I really enjoyed evening walks in the military housing in the adjacent neighborhood. We also went to the playgrounds in the area, which were a nice amenity. The front landscaping is not receiving service and and is need of a clean up and manicure. The dining table only has three chairs, which was odd for a house that sleeps six. There is no garage access or laundry. There were no dressers for clothing storage. The front window treatment and outdoor awning didn’t really give full privacy at night, which I didn’t love. This was a solid stay but a few tweaks would make it more comfortable especially when staying for more than a few days.

The home is located in the central neighborhood of Serra Mesa. It is one street adjacent to the military housing and the various parks in that vicinity, one of which is a dog park. Like most homes in the neighborhood, we maintain drought resistant landscaping (gravel, shrubs, etc.). Many of our guests enjoy walks in the neighborhood and the family-friendly amenities. Many of our guests are families who value privacy, cleanliness, and convenience. With that in mind, we intentionally provide details in the listing about amenities provided, in order to help guests choose the property that best suits their needs. Specifically that a garage and laundry machines are not provided, although there is a laundromat a few blocks away. At the beginning of each stay we provide instructions on how to access the electronic version and physical version of the house manual, which outlines details about navigating the home; such as where to find the extra dining chairs and extra sheets that are located in the dressers in the bedroom closets. However, we are always happy to provide assistance and encourage our guests to contact us if they have any questions or requests - we are happy to help. Overall we enjoyed our stay. It was a nice house, clean, 10 minutes from everything, the neighborhood was nice, the neighbors were friendly, even the mailman said hi everyday. There were a few things we did not like. The listing states there is off street parking, which I assumed meant off the street. Apparently I was wrong. Off street parking actually means on street parking, and the streets get very packed with cars, so good luck. Also this house is a duplex, that is not stated in the listing. There is a big double door in the living room that leads into the neighbors house. We were super creeped out by this. Lastly, the listing advertises “complimentary snacks and drinks” these are actually just left overs that past guest have left. Half jars of jelly and hot sauce, things like that. No actual snacks. We thought this was more gross than anything. I think the wording should be changed in the ad to be a little more honest

I am addressing a few of your points that were not completely accurate: - Parking: in the listing it states that guests can park in the driveway or off the street. Guests are encouraged to contact the host if they have any questions or require assistance, although no one has had any issues so far. - Rooms and Spaces: As stated in the description of rooms and spaces, as well as the house manual; there is a tenant nextdoor. The french doors open up to the garage (not the unit nextdoor). We ensure the garage is not accesible to guests because it is used for storage. - Food: We keep squeeze bottles of condiments in the fridge (ketchup, hot sauce, mustard, etc.) and we also keep coffee and sugar available for guests to enjoy. Es entsprach unseren Bedürfnissen - zentrale Lage, 2 Badezimmer!

Der fehlende Wäscheständer wurde prompt durch eine Wäscheleine ergänzt. Bei 5 Erwachsenen waren es zu wenig Stühle am Esstisch! Es waren nicht genügend Löffel und kleine Löffel fehlten. Ein kleines Mango, bei ansonsten einer gut eingerichteten Küche! Alle konnten sich problemlos im Eohnbereich aufhalten. Wir hatten eine tolle Familienzeit.

Clean, Safe Neighborhood, Easy Access to San Diego Tourist Attractions

We enjoyed staying at Mary‘s property and would recommend it to those interested. It was central to all of the activities we had planned for our vacation. The kitchen was well stocked with items to cook our own meals. The beds were all clean. The bathrooms are in excellent condition. It was very easy for everyone to access the front door that is secured with a smart lock. The living room had ample space for us to all enjoy visiting together and the couch was very comfortable with multiple reclining seats. There is a baby crib although we did not need to use it. We very much appreciated that a good supply of toilet paper was on hand so that we didn’t have to rush to the store after using only one roll as many property owners seem to only leave one roll. Both bathrooms were well stocked with shampoo, conditioner and body shampoo. There was also a curling iron and hairdryer. The air conditioning worked excellently and ceiling fans in both of the living room and master bedroom made it very easy to keep the indoor climate dry and comfortable. The neighborhood is very quiet and so it was easy to get a good nights rest. The master bathroom is awesome as it includes both a bidet toilet and also a rainfall shower that is very relaxing. Great Family House

Great place for a family with teen and toddlers. They enjoyed playing with all toys and a small swing outside was highlight. My kids had a great time. Kitchen was stocked with all necessary items. Our days are hot only the living room shade is covering up the entire window not a big issue. Just a little privacy concern. Other than everything was great.

Very Clean

First off, property was very clean, great location for us and Mary was very responsive. The downfalls are quite a few. The home smelled like cigarette smoke that an air purifier didn't take care of. There was no fire extinguisher as stated on the website and only one exit in case of fire. There is no back yard to access. The beds were extremely uncomfortable and not meant for seniors as we were. I feel that this home is geared towards a family with kids as no adult can sleep in that queen bed. There were no nightstands to place belongings and no closet, only small cubbies. The Nest thermostat was hard to keep on and it got to be 82 degrees when we came home. The TV had no access to live tv, only streaming, so I ended up watching TV on my laptop. I am looking for a property to stay in multiple times as my family lives in San Diego, but unfortunately, this is not it.

Hi Ellen, Our home has had over 50+ stays over the course of the one year that it has been listed on AirBnB and VRBO. Not once have we heard feedback about bad smells in the house. We have a strict no-smoking policy and our professional housekeeping team has never mentioned cigarette smells after any of our guests. Nonetheless, I wanted to make your stay as comfortable as possible so we purchased a HEPA air purifier with a carbon filter and had it overnight mailed to the house for you. Regarding the issue of the Nest and the TV, as soon as you let me know it wasn't working for you we sent someone over to take a look at both. Both were in working order and the directions to use them were detailed fully in the house manual. Regarding the comments about the beds and backyard. Our reviews on VRBO and Airbnb have stated several times how comfortable our beds are and how kid friendly the house is (child proofed outlets, safe furniture, toys, etc.) and we take pride in the care and consideration payed toward every detail in the house. Additionally, we have included in the listing several places where we mentioned there is no backyard. Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We wish you health and happiness!

Very nice decor upon entry. beautiful kitchen and bathrooms, bedrooms are clean nice beds and clean beddings. would have been nice to have a regular twin bed in the baby room still keep the crib. would be great if the landscape was cleaned more curb appeal... All in all it was very good and your Samoan and Hawaiian neighbors was great especially when we're Hawaiians as well. Mahalo plenty!

Overall, my family and I enjoyed our stay. The owner was very responsive and helpful. The property is pretty close to the freeway, so it's easy enough to get to all the main attractions. Bathrooms seem to have been recently updated. The accommodations are very basic. Just the minimum and no more, but it's doable. If you have little kids like us, and plan to stay for a while, there are a few things you may want to know. There is central air. The master bedroom is the warmest. All of the bedrooms are close together and the sound travels easily (baby crying). There is no washer/dryer and only a few towels. Also, it is a little drive to restaurants, grocery stores, etc. There is no yard for the kids to play in, but we did like the many small parks nearby. The house already has a crib, crib mattress, crib sheet, potty seat, and booster seat for the dining table. There are also some toys.
