We enjoyed our time in Rochester. The property was as advertised, with a very nice view of the lake.

Booked this as a last minute get away a couple of hours from our home. Main things were the pet friendly so we could bring our dog and a place for my husband to fish. The weather did not cooperate which is no fault of the owner. But once we didn’t have use of the lake, sadly there was nothing about the house that enticed us to stay. The kitchen and bathroom were clean. I can’t really speak to any of the supplies because we didn’t cook anything there. However the carpet is severely stained in several places. I did message the owner to make sure we wouldn’t be held accountable and he responded quickly and politely that he was aware. We only used the main floor. You cannot access the bottom floor or loft any other way than the small spiral stairway. It is much smaller than it looks in the pictures (in my opinion) - The decking did feel a bit “soft” like maybe it might need to be replaced sooner rather than later. There is one smaller couch on the main floor which is not made for comfort if “hanging out” or lounging while watching TV. - which again would not be an issue if the weather was nice and you just hung out on the deck/yard or the dock/lake. The couches that look like comfy hang out couches are located on the bottom level. - So if you get great weather and can navigate the stairway, this would probably work out well for you.- but for us, sadly, that just was not the case.
We decided to take a couple days to relax near peaceful water while our master bathroom was being remodeled. This was the perfect spot for us and our 2 dogs! Very quiet and peaceful!
My wife and I planned a quick getaway for a night. The place was on a beautiful frozen lake with a nice back yard. Check in was easy and the owner very accommodating. Although a bit outdated, the place was cozy for us to enjoy. Local pizza and wings were fantastic.
Lots of family drove from Texas to Indiana for Thanksgiving at Mom’s house! More of us than her tiny lovely home could handle. This home was exactly what we needed! Close to mom and plenty of room. Thank you for a wonderful location and home!
Everything was great & we enjoyed our stays. Just an FYI- it’s a lot of steps, it’s an A-frame!, but there is a bathroom & bedroom on the main level that doesn’t have any additional steps to get to it (except for the ones to get inside), if people in your group have mobility issues.
My siblings and I stayed at the house on Lake Manitou, while other family members camped nearby. We were all pleased with the house. It was conveniently located, had plenty of parking, plenty of room in the kitchen for coolers and items we brought, and it was lovely to gather on the good-sized deck overlooking the lake. The spiral staircase is a bit of a challenge, but we are tall and got along fine with it. We had to buy a few kitchen items, but that is common with short-term rentals. Check-in/access was easy, and the communication with the manager was excellent. We hope to stay there again.
This adorable home has the best view. The kids loved the swing, spiral stairs, and bunk beds. It is charming and cozy. The beds were very comfortable, which is hard to come by in a rental like this. It’s close to everything you’d need in Rochester and the kitchen was stocked well. We enjoyed it.

Outdated
Outdated and tired is the only description I will give. Some might think it is quaint or nostalgic, personally for the cost, I expected more. If it states in the listing that a rental boat lift is required-I must have missed it. I had the location incorrect as I thought this was located in the pond and not the North Shore. That was not the property manager's fault.
Very comfy and clean. Could use a couple more items in the kitchen. Cookie sheets, pasta fork, large sauce pans with lids. Need to do something to add bumpers on corners of spiral staircase. Plenty of warnings to be careful however, still several of us had run ins with the corners. We had a great time and the house was comfortable.
We chose this A frame cottage because of its uniqueness and we love Lake Manitou, as well as all that Rochester has to offer. We traveled with family raging from age 3 to 91. The home is not ideal for someone older or handicapped but the main level offered all that was needed, He was able to maneuver the stairs and get to the sturdy dock to the boat. The downstairs living area was great for the night owls. The fenced in yard makes it so comfortable to enjoy the outdoors with dogs and young children. We spent 90% of our time outdoors, enjoying the view, the yard and the deck while we grilled out and played. It was so fun to pontoon over to the Dam Landing for dinner. You can also dock at the Moose or Elks if your members. The home was not modern, but very cute and comfortable. I did not have one complaint regarding the cleanliness of the home. We had some very humid days and the air conditioner kept up very well but the upstairs runs A little warmer. They had fans available to move the air. The kitchen was well stocked. We did bring our own knives. There was a coffee maker, toaster, blender and Keurig. They had a gas grill, plenty of games and toys, lots of floats, and things for outside available. The beds were comfortable, but firmer than I am used to. I would recommend Bandidos for great Mexican food and Ruthless bar for fresh made amazing food. We stayed three nights and all wished we had booked a whole week. We can’t wait to return again in the future.
Really enjoyed our time on the lake. This quaint house had everything we needed to make our trip successful and enjoyable! We would definitely book at this propert again if we travel back to this area! We give it 5 / 5!!!

Good for our needs but could be better
We stayed at this property while in town for a ballgame. Adults range in age from 43 to 88. The first issue was the steps going up to the property. They are a little tricky. There are no yard lights or even “lake signs” in the house. No very “homey” feeling. No yard lights. Kinda boring. The view is amazing!!!!! The wall looking at the lake needs looking at as it’s beginning to warp ..maybe a leaking window. Paint is peeling outside. Just needs a little more TLC thanks for having us!!!
The place was so cute. Not huge but more than enough room for us and 4 kids. The basement was perfect for the kids to watch tv and hang out playing games at night. We loved the deck and spent a lot of time there. We also brought our boat with us and loved how calm the lake is. Thank you for sharing your place with us !
My husband & I and our best couple friends were attending another friend's wedding in Rochester and rented this fun, little A frame for 2 nights. It is right on the water and was tons of fun. We listened to music on the back deck, got out the paddle board the next day, made lunch at the place & played cards inside that night (after the wedding because it rained). We went to the super cute & close local coffee shop both mornings for breakfast - it was great! We throughly enjoyed staying at this place while in Rochester; way better than a hotel!!!
The owners of the lakefront home fell in love with the ambiance of Lake Manitou and enjoy spending time on the lake with family and friends.
Why they chose this property
This home offers a stunning view from the north side of Lake Manitou. With approximately 100 feet of lake frontage, you'll have plenty of space to play and enjoy your stay! Guests may bring their own boat/watercraft for recreation and launch a public boat launch. No tie-offs on pier due to wave levels. Guests may rent a temporary lift. There is a gas station on the lake. Pontoon rentals are limited and suggest booking early.
What makes this property unique
This property is fully fenced offering you peace of mind.
