This home was a good place to gather while we were in the area for my daughter's wedding. The owner made us feel welcome with all the special touches and planning for guests in the home.

God Bless you,

Three of us stayed here on one of the hottest weekends of the summer. The AC was perfect--it was a wonderful place to relax. There is a lovely view of the river, a nice neighborhood for walks in the morning and evening. We didn't cook much, but it seemed like the kitchen has everything you would need. Rebecca was very responsive and welcoming.

Thanks for your kind review. I am so glad the new AC unit is installed and operating to keep you and future guests comfortable. Please visit again.
Great experience in this peaceful, family home. We felt blessed to have such a comfortable place to hang out since the hot weather during our stay didn't allow us to fish and hike as we had planned. The view is truly amazing! We saw eagles and deer from the living room. The kitchen was a joy - well equipped and super organized. . Communication with host was excellent both prior to and during our stay. We appreciated all the thoughtful amenities throughout the house. Thanks for everything, Rebecca. We'll be back!

Amazing view, felt at home right away, well organized kitchen with what we needed.
We, my daughter and I, so enjoyed staying in this family home! We felt comfortable and could easily cook because we could find things. We were thankful for the air conditioning and the fans…were able to keep things cool. Loved all the space and enjoyed having my son, daughter-in-law and family over a couple different times.
We definitely hope to say here again!

No AC;
There is no central AC which is common for this area since generally it is only a couple of weeks when temperature are high enough it is needed. However during this very unusual hot summer a window air conditioner was installed in one of the bedrooms prior to this guest's stay, . Five fans are available for guests to use and move as needed. Before check in guests are provided a list of suggestions for the best way to keep the house cool using the one AC unit and strategic location of fans.
Closet door off of runner:
This is an unusual occurrence; the door had never come off the runner before. It is now replaced.
Trash in unit:
The trash was not in the house, however the garbage cans in the garage were full. Upon notification by the guest, the caretaker emptied the cans as soon as possible.
In the house, garbage cans are provided in every room and the caretaker verifies all trash is picked up after each guest.
My cousins and I had a wonderful stay. A beautiful location, watching the eagles was a highlight. Can't recommend a better vacation home.

About the host

I grew up in Metaline Falls with my parents and four siblings.
I currently live 250 miles away but return to the family home to see my siblings and extended family and friends that still live in Metaline Falls or near there.
Why they chose this property
I bought this home from my siblings in order to keep it in the family and be able to gather together during the year with my siblings, their families, and friends. My Dad built this house/home from the ground up. So many memories here.
My parents always opened the door to family and friends to stay and visit. When we siblings were in college we would bring fellow students home during the holidays and Mom and Dad greeted them with open arms. When company left our home they felt special and knew they had been welcomed.
I want to extend that opportunity to other families; to be welcomed into our home. A house needs people and vacation rental by owner seemed like a good way to offer an invitation to others. The river-view is so amazing and brings me peace just sitting and looking out the picture window. I hope it can do the same for you.
What makes this property unique
The location is located to many sites to see; things to do within 5 to 30 miles.
Sullivan Lake 7 miles away is great for boating, canoes; swimming, camping, paddle boarding etc.
Numerous lakes within 5-25 miles are stocked with fish; the Mill Pond on the road to Sullivan Lake is a great place to fish Sullivan Creek; and teach the young ones how to fly fish.
Hiking trails abound with easy short routes to see Sweet Creek Falls; or a more robust hike to Elk Creek Falls; or a longer hike along Sullivan Lake Trail; and many more.
Quilting: If you love to quilt and want to set up a Quilting Retreat for yourself and some friends there is a large table for laying out fabric. I quilt there so there is a large cutting mat available. The local "Sweet Creek Creations" has some of the best fabric in any quilt store I have visited. The two sisters who own the shop are there to help with any quilting questions you might have. You can set up your machine(s) on the folding tables available and look out over the river to relax your eyes and muscles.
Golfing: unique experience golfing at the Pend Oreille Golf Course; nine holes situated in the forest, with SAND greens. There is an honor system to pay for your under $5/person; $10/season or family green fees (put the money in the envelop and into the box). There is also a small family owned golf course with grass greens; Serendipity about 15 miles south near Ione.
Winter sports also; snowmobiling; cross country skiing; down hill skiing in Canada about 50 miles north.
Touring Box Canyon Dam, Boundry Dam, and Gardner Caves are within 10 miles as well.
Metaline Falls is located on the International Selkirk Loop.
