About this property
Fivespot Cabin, an art and nature lover's retreat
Quiet, cozy, inspiring, art-filled: Fivespot is a relaxing destination for a week or weekend, perfect for couples or small families. Enjoy the books, the sauna and outdoor shower, the claw-foot bathtub, the fireplace, and lots of cozy pillows and throws.
Stretch out and do something creative! Add something to the chalkboard wall, or stroll to the hilltop behind the cabin and sketch the surrounding foothills. Several painters and writers have already used Fivespot as a personal artistic retreat.
There's comfort and convenience: a covered stone patio, gas bbq, kitchen with all the trimmings, and lots of outdoor space means you can cook and dine inside or out. New in 2024: free Level 1 EV charging from a dedicated outdoor plug.
Year-round comfort and fun at Fivespot:
Summer is the high season in the Sierras, for good reason: the sun shines from June through October. Hiking trails are open, wildlife and wildflowers abound. But we locals enjoy the fall, winter, and spring even more: sun gives way to rain and snow, life quiets down, time to rest and renew. Fivespot is perfect for an off-season retreat. The road to the cabin is kept cleared of snow, and the road into the Parks is accessible if you have 4-wheel drive or chains (we can help you with that). The fireplace and sauna keep you cozy; you've got time to think, write, read, or just relax. It's a delightful time of year - please consider a visit!
Winter activities at and around Fivespot:
Winter is never far from Fivespot: at 4000' elevation, we get at least one substantial storm each year. If you are lucky enough to be here at the perfect moment, you can snowshoe right out the back door. But the cabin is also perfectly situated for near-certain winter adventures - it's just a 15 minute drive to the entrance of Kings Canyon National Park, where sequoias are blanketed in deep snow all winter. And Fivespot is located on a well-maintained state road, so getting here is easy. Snow play, snow shoeing, and cross-country skiing are these Parks' best winter activities.

About the host
Hosted by Mahalia LoMele

We are former New Yorkers (Brooklyn, to be precise) and artists. We moved to Pinehurst in 2003, bought the 1940's cabin next to our home in 2007, renovated it, and opened it as Fivespot Cabin in 2008. Here's hoping you'll stay at our place next time you come to the Sierras!
Why they chose this property
Pinehurst was a flourishing logging community for decades. The Pinehurst Lodge, a short walk from Fivespot, is a locally-owned and operated restaurant in a 100-year-old former sawmill.
Cedarbrook, an early-20th century cabin community built by Mennonite families from nearby Reedley around a lovely year round stream, is a 10 minute walk away. Other nearby historical logging sites are Neff's Camp and Millwood.
Today, small cabins used as summer homes, rentals, and by full-time residents, are scattered throughout the forest. Pinehurst's year-round population is around 350.
