Whimsy Way! Romantic or family mtn escape w/glorious sunsets from the porch!
Ideally situated for the perfect sunset between the quaint town of Elliljay and the enchanting town of Blue Ridge. Whimsy Way Chalet provides a respite from the madness of everyday life. Escape to this magical home where you can enjoy the serenity of being nestled in the mountains and the romance of roof top restaurants, wineries, hiking, and apple barns all within a short drive.
We can sleep 12 people, but that would include using 2 air mattresses located in the basement. We have 1 king on master, 4 single/twin beds in the loft which is upstairs via a spiral staircase, 1 queen sleeper sofa in basement w/a foam topper for comfort, and of course the 2 queen air mattresses. There are two full baths (one full bath is in the loft which is only accessed by a spiral staircase and has a crawl-through entry only to full bath-- more suitable for young and spry) and 2 half baths.
Our cabin is located approximately 2 miles up a beautiful mountain road. The roads ARE dirt, gravel, and very bumpy on the first incline. The steepest stretch of the road is paved. The road doesn’t require a 4-wheel drive, and one of our children even came in a small car.

My husband and I stayed here at the end of March. We enjoyed visiting Blue Ridge and Elijay. The listing was accurate. We had 4WD and the trips up and down the mountain to the property were a bit rough but doable. It took us about 9 minutes to go the 1.6 miles. We did not attempt it in the dark though. The property was very cute, and few details were missing. We were thankful for the fact that some basic amenities were provided to get you started (toilet paper, garbage bags, soaps). Communication with the owner did require us to reach out to acquire the information we needed to check-in. But they answered us quickly when we called.
We enjoyed our visit and would recommend the cabin and nearby towns to others.
Happy 2024 ! My family and l had the best vacation . It was perfect for 3 teens and 2 adults. The way to the cabin is not as bad as others we have stayed in, the unpaved road is just a little bumpy but not dangerous at all. The views from the cabin is gorgeous , you do have neighbors near by but somehow you still feel secluded.Steve is very nice and easy to reach. No worries you do have phone signal and wifi is very fast. The decoration and details inside the cabin are so gorgeous ❤️. There is plenty of wood for the fireplace and kitchen is fully equiped. For beautiful scenic views we went to Fort Mountain State Park ,Fainting Goat Vineyard and Chilhowee Mountain Overlook.Thank you Steve we ‘ve created beautiful memories in your cabin !!! 🙏❄️⛰️
The perfect place to disconnect and get away from the city life. The views of the mountains and woods are incredible, with an amazing sunrise/sunset. If you aren’t used to the mountains, be prepared for the drive up to the cabin. The roads aren’t paved and are extremely bumpy. I highly recommend a 4x4 vehicle. Overall, a great experience!
I had the pleasure of experiencing a cozy cabin getaway recently, and it was truly a memorable retreat. The cabin was nestled in the heart of nature, surrounded by towering trees and a serene ambiance. What struck me most were the fireplaces – not just one, but several, both indoors and outdoors. The crackling fires added warmth and charm to the rustic interior, creating a perfect setting for relaxation.
However, the location did come with a minor challenges. The mountain road leading to the cabin required careful navigation, and I recommend having a vehicle suitable for such terrain. But, it turned out to be a small price to pay for the seclusion and tranquility we enjoyed.
Overall, our stay at the cozy cabin was a wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The cozy ambiance, numerous fireplaces, and natural surroundings made it a perfect place to unwind and reconnect with nature. I cherished every moment of our getaway and would highly recommend it to anyone in search of a peaceful retreat.
Property was exactly what was portrayed in the pictures. Had a wonderful time. Although you can access property with a non 4 wheel drive vehicle I would highly recommend one due to the type of road and incline.
What a great place. We had a great stay, location is great, if you ever drove on dirt road in Georgia mountains then this one is not a big deal, probably on the good side and easily accessible in any kind of the car. Rather than repeating others comments about why this place is great let me add what has not been said. Owners took time, effort and money to do some unique design and interior decoration in this place. If you into that kind of thing and detailed oriented, you can spend hours discovering some times obvious some tie very subtle details. Combination of wood, rock and metal construction is very nice and gives this place modern yet mountain cabin like feel. Some of the furniture is very unique and likely custom made and combines rustic with modern design feel. Look for details like toiled paper holders, curtain holders, various unique chandeliers and light fixtures, mirror frames, and so on. Have fun exploring, it is like a scavenger hunt. And I will echo all other accolades in previous reviews.
We loved everything about the cabin. Very cozy & comfortable. Amenities all good. The drive up the road forced us to turn around back home to bring back a car that could make it up the muddy road. Also the road prevented us from going out at night. It was a rainy weekend. We came for a 3-day weekend starting Thursday but when we were able to come back Friday the owners were great & allowed us to stay thru Monday & did not charge us extra. We would definitely come back to this cabin if the road up the mountain was paved. Kathleen Katzenstein
Great cabin with amazing creativity and attention to detail in construction and finishes. Beautiful views, evenings by the fire, foosball in the treehouse, and day trips into Blue Ridge and Ellijay kept the family relaxed and entertained. Steve was quick to reply on questions - great host and a great property!
My wife and I wanted to get away for my birthday, and this place was great! We loved the attention to detail in decor, you literately found yourself standing in each room staring at everything. It's was nice to sit on the patio area and have a fire, most places wont let you do that, we loved the hot tub it was the perfect size for two people. There were only three things I could make remarks about... One, the photos on the add are from when it was listed for sale and done with a wide angle lens so it looks way bigger than it is (not a big deal) Two, it's not as secluded as it appears in the photos, the neighbors to the left are a stones throw away. Three, do not get excited if you enjoy playing pool when you see this pool table (as I did) shes as warped as a wet 1/4 inch piece of plywood. Overall we loved it!
Its a lovely and easy home to stay at whimsical way. Open high ceilings, bright natural light, clean, just the right size for heated rooms, 3 fire places.
I might've slept on the covered porch beside the master bedroom if it weren't winter. I had the best new years eve in a long while, staying here.
The location is great for the northern part of Georgia. No phone reception is a plus, internet is provided.
You may wish to bring a flashlight, and the road isn't paved in its last 1.8 miles. Its clay with bumps and potholes, so keep in mind what you drive.
Privacy is great, neighbors don't pry, and instructions are left in a book on the table.
