About this property
Mountaintop Cabin Above Ober | Views, Hot Tub
Located at the very top of Ski View Drive in Panorama Point, Haus of the Rising Sun sits above Ober Gatlinburg at one of the highest residential elevations in the area. The views from both decks span Mount LeConte, Pigeon Forge, and the Gatlinburg valley. On clear mornings you can watch the sunrise paint the ridgeline while fog fills the valley below you.
This 1,400-square-foot chalet sleeps 7 across 2 bedrooms, each with a king bed and en-suite bathroom. The Green Room (first floor) is a king master suite with comfortable decor and a full en-suite bath. The Peanut Butter Room (second floor) is a flexible space with a king bed, twin sleeping nook, queen pullout sofa, and a Jacuzzi jetted tub in the en-suite. Three TVs including a Smart TV with streaming. Downstairs, the wood-burning fireplace runs October through March. An electric fireplace upstairs provides ambiance year-round. The fully equipped kitchen has everything you need to cook full meals. Step onto either deck to grill on the gas grill (propane provided) or soak in the covered hot tub while watching the lights come on across the valley. The community pool is open Memorial Day through Labor Day and is a short walk from the cabin.
GETTING HERE You are at the tip-top of the mountain. The last stretch of road is steep, narrow, and winding. This is normal for upper Gatlinburg and part of what makes the elevation and privacy possible. A standard sedan handles it fine in dry conditions. In winter weather, 4WD or chains are recommended. Once you arrive, the views make the drive worth every turn.
WILDLIFE Black bears, bobcats, deer, and wild turkeys are regular visitors to the property. Keep food and trash secured per Gatlinburg regulations. Most guests consider the wildlife a highlight.

We have stayed here twice. We love the location because it’s on top of the mountain. The view is gorgeous, and the hot tub is so relaxing! My children enjoyed having their own living area upstairs, too.
The views are spectacular, better than any of the paid attractions we went to around Gatlinburg (though they’re still fun). Came at the end of October and getting to look at the foliage in the hot tub was one of my favorite parts of the trip. The space was perfect for 4 friends and the owner was very responsive.
The view was amazing. Beautiful mountains by day and glittering city lights at night. The unit was well appointed with everything we needed to prepare meals. It was spacious and comfortable. We plan to stay here again next year.

Awesome views
This was probably one of the cleanest places we stayed on the trip it was very well equipped.
The twin bed upstairs was the perfect set up for my son.
Nice it was as high on the mountain as you could go, but it was quiet and cool there

View of exceptional and the kids loved the whirlpool tub!!
The layout of the house was beautiful and relaxing with a warm comfy decor.
The drive up the mountain was a challenge with my truck, will take the smaller SUV next time.

Perfect Girls weekend!
This chalet and the whole community was absolutely adorable! Me and my daughters stayed 2 nights in the Haus of the Rising Sun and we were ready to just move in! It had all the amenities you would need and more! The hot tub was so relaxing and the beds were comfortable. Our absolute favorite part was the top deck and the AMAZING sunrises and sunsets! We could’ve stayed out there all day!

Great family friendly chalet!
The first thing we noticed when we walked through the door was the amazing smell. The decor was very homey and comfortable. The location is incredible. Hands down the most beautiful place we’ve stayed in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge. The upper deck was perfect for enjoying early morning coffee. The road up the mountain was a little scary at first but once we got used to it, it wasn’t so bad. Overall, we had a great experience!
We loved the views and the property was pristine and clean. It was by far the best place our family has stayed in the smokies and we will be staying there again!
The Haus of the Rising Sun was great for my family of 4! We each had our own space and the views are to die for! There was a bear seen once in the backyard area during our stay according to the neighbors (we missed it ). I would highly recommend and if we come back to the area, we would definitely stay here again!
Our first time visiting the Smoky Mountains and this property was perfect! Very clean, well maintained and thoughtfully furnished. Had everything we needed. Stunning views of the mountains!
Haus of the Rising Sun was a great stay for our family. We enjoyed the area along with the great views from the house. The hot tub and pool were an added bonus. Thanks
The place was clean and the beds were great. The hottub was amazing after a long day of walking. Once the weather cleared, the view on the deck was beautiful.
Will definitely stay here next time!! 100% worth the windy mountain roads for a million dollar view. House had everything well stocked, clean, and helpful info!
This house has a wonderful panoramic view of the mountains. We loved spending the mornings and evenings on the deck and in the hothub. The kids loved the pool and we all loved the games provided to play. Amazing place to just stay and enjoy nature.

About the host

We've owned cabins at Panorama Point since 2017. We fell in love with the views and wanted to share them. We self-manage both properties and take pride in direct communication with every guest.
Why they chose this property
The view!! My husband told me to cover my eyes and guided me to the deck. The minute I opened my eyes and saw the view, I knew I had to have this awesome home and share these unbelievable views with others!
What makes this property unique
One of the highest residential elevations in Gatlinburg. Above Ober Gatlinburg. Panoramic views of Mount LeConte, Pigeon Forge, and the Gatlinburg valley that you cannot get at lower elevations.
