Great stay

House is great, exactly as listed.We would come back for sure. Two things to note so you know when booking1. No AC and even with all the fans provided it can get hot at night2. Location is great, 2nd row of houses from ocean but between 1st and 2nd row in front of the pool is the main road and it can get busy . Overall place is great.

Great location

The location of the property was great! Keys were difficult to operate in doors. Management was easy to get a hold of and timely in their responses. Had all amenities you could need and more. Overall we had a great stay!

The house is very nice, pool okay, location good for shopping, restaurant, and beach.The house could have been cleaner.The inside floors were dirty, with mouse droppings, dust and termite dust under a couple of kitchen cabinets.The veranda was very dirty with the wood railing dusty and birds dropping. It appeared that nobody had cleaned the veranda and pool deck for awhile!Although the outside laundry machines worked good but the area was dirty. Vacuum cleaner was full and dirty..This is a very nice house that could use a good cleaning and TLC.After doing our own cleanup we enjoyed the stay but unhappy with the overall cleanliness.

Big island family vacay

Our family of four very much enjoyed the house and location. Great snorkeling beach a six minute walk away. Nice to have a fully stocked kitchen and bbq area. Older kids loved the separate sleeping quarters. Would definitely come back!

Great vacation house!

Nice view of ocean. The pool is great. Two beaches nearby but both are small, we didn't end up going to either. Fairly convenient to grocery stores. Really nice kitchen. Master bath has no doors and is not very private, which is interesting, but was fine for us. We'd stay there again.

Great for two couples.

Spacious indoor living area that we never used because we were outside by the pool. Nicely equipped kitchen. On the free Kona shuttle route. No iat conditioning but ample fans.

30th Anniversary stay

Enjoyed the location, house and pool. It was warm when we were there and there is no air conditioning. Fans were not enough to cool the main bedroom, so we moved to the front bedroom over the garage. This room cooled better due to flow from the ocean through the room. We would look for a place that has a/c next time or move further up the mountain!

A Wonderful Family Christmas Vacation.

This is a fabulous house in a convenient location. The pool was very enjoyable and the layout was nice. I have two negative comments. 1. The master bathroom has absolutely no privacy. 2. The noise from the road out front at times was overwhelming. We were able to overlook those two things and enjoyed our stay very much.

Fantastic

This unit was amazing. It was a lot more than we expected. The layout was unbelievable. Sitting on the patio every morning and evening was a favorite part of the day. The 3 full bathrooms was great. Wayne Twitchell was very accommodating as we had to rebook because of Covid last year. I would definitely rebook this unit in the future. The only minor issues were a small coffee pot and the pans were not very good.

Just Amazing!

This home is immaculate! It was clean and was ready for our family to enjoy it right when we opened the door. The view was good, as you could see the ocean and the pool was the best! It was a tad hot, since there is no air conditioning, but there are a ton of fans and a pool to cool down in. We saw amazing sunsets right across the street from the house, as there was a public entrance to the shoreline. The house is perfect in location for beach days at Magic Beach. We throughly enjoyed our stay. Just a heads up, that the second bedroom is not attached to the main house. It was not a big deal for us, since we have older children, but could be hard with younger kids. We would definitely stay here again!

Awesome oceanview house with a pool!

Our family of four, my husband, myself and two teen boys, 12 and 14 really had a wonderful time staying at this lovely vacation home right across the street from the ocean. The ocean view is phenomenal and the pool was an absolutely awesome added bonus to our stay! The boys had such a wonderful time swimming when we’re not exploring the island. We couldn’t have asked for a better location as it was minutes from the Magic Sands Beach, amazing snorkeling at Kahalu’u Bay and just 10 minutes from downtown Kona. FYI, there’s no A/C but the fans around the home kept us cool at night. The weather was partly cloudy and temperatures in the mid 70’s so it was ideal for chilling on the deck and lanai. The beds were very comfortable and there were floaties and beach balls available for use for the pool and beach towels, chairs and snorkel gear available in the storage area beneath the separate casita for your beach outings. Paradise

Wonderful! We had an amazing stay. Snorkeling right across the road. Many beaches nearby. Restaurants and shopping 10 minutes up the road. Pool was a God send. Used it every day. Sat at the lanai most nights. The queen room is a separate entrance but that door is right near an entrance to the master bedroom in the main house. So not a big deal. No AC as noted. We kept the doors and windows open with fans going. It was fine. Ocean views and lush landscaping around pool. Very pretty. Definitely would recommend.

House could use a little more TLC

The house was great and the pool with the outside Lanai was awesome. The house could use a bit more TLC. A lot of the windows could not be opened and with no AC it was quite hot, even with the fans on. The oven did not work, which was the main reason for renting the unit, as I had to bake a bunch of pie shells for my daughter's wedding. The floors where dirty when we got there. And the guest bathroom sink had very poor drainage. We also had to run our trash to the rubbish dump due to the trash bins below being full. As I said, the pool and spending time with family and friends was the highlight of our trip.

No AC!

Four stars because, overall, the house was lovely. Great things: Very clean house. Plenty of kitchen appliances, dishes, sheets, soap & toilet paper etc. Not so great: there’s no AC in the house, and only three small fans total (plus ceiling fans). There were no beach umbrellas or chairs to borrow. There seemed to be a termite issue in one of the kitchen cabinets. The shower in the master bedroom/bath leaked every time water was being used somewhere else in the house. Light sleepers; be aware. The pool was nice, but definitely a little older/in need of sprucing up.

Unrealized potential

This is a great property in a great location, but there are a lot of issues. To me it looked like it was designed by an interior design student who never lived in a place like this. It was beautifully staged, but functionally inadequate.Our main issue was with the ventilation. With no AC, it is imperative that a cross breeze is available. Unfortunately MANY windows did not open and bedroom slider doorhad no screens making sleeping difficult. Providing lots of floor fans was not an acceptable substitute for ventilation.The pool was fantastic, but its storage room was a mess.The appliances were fancy but didn’t work. The living room had a single couch that only sat three. The dishes and glasses were plastic and in short supply. Even the wine glasses were plastic. The master bathroom’s location provided NO privacy.We feel that this place needs a lot of TLC and a small investment to make it great.In my opinion, until the ventilation issues are addressed, this property should be avoided. Once they are fixed we would return in a heartbeat.

Kona sunset rental from January 14th to Jan 23rd

Reviewer Comments: Our stay here was fantastic! The directions to get to the house were very clear. We also used google maps and it brought us right to it.When we first arrived at the house, it was hot so we opened up all the sliding doors and windows. I thought not having an air conditioner was going to be a mistake, but it cooled down nicely and we never had a problem with it at all. It stayed a good temperature the whole time, you get a nice breeze off the ocean and the mights cool down so that really helps. The location of the house is great. And it is beautiful! The views are amazing of the oven which is literally right across the street. If you look across the street you will see a little path beside a house that goes right to the ocean. It’s not a swim spot but it’s neat to go see. The pool was fantastic, my 8 year old loved it. It was so nice to have a house and bbq right by the pool at the end of the days after a day at the beach, while the kids swim at the pool as you cook supper! The host of the house Wayne, was great to deal with. If any issue came up he fixed it right away.Like our propane tank ran out of propane and then etc morning he had another delivered. The house has a lot of snorkel gear, boogie boards and sand buckets for the kids to use at the beach. Beach chairs etc! Just down the road to the left is one of the best snorkle beaches and not far from that is a nice shopping centre. We rented kayaks and paddled to captain cook monument which is a short drive from the rental and it was fantastic. We went out at 9 am and as we paddling out, dolphins swam past us! I would definitely, definitely stay here again!

Reviewer Comments: Here is how I would rate this property:Location: 10/10The location is perfect—right in the center of everything on the Kona side.Ease of Access: 5/10The key system is very frustrating, especially after parking. We could enter through the sliding door, but locking it was nearly impossible.Cleanliness: 6/10Although all the towels were washed, they still smelled moldy. I suspect there's an issue with the washing machines.Pests: 4/10There were roaches on the terrace at night. This might be typical in Hawaii, or it could be a specific problem with this house. If I had known about the pest issue, I would have avoided staying here.Communication: 4/10While I was on the property, the pool was serviced and the yard was cleaned without any prior notice. These instances violated the privacy I was expecting.Deposit Handling: 7/10I received a full refund of my deposit, but there was a claim about pre-existing damage. We were in a great location though close to an amazing snorkeling beach and had amazing ocean view! Having a pool all to ourselves was great too! There were some minor maint issues. I did email owners but never heard anything back. Several electrical outlets not working, the fold out couch where our son slept was bent and slanted, no ac in the home which we knew prior to booking. There were several fans available but disappointed that not all of the windows would open to allow for more air flow. Some of the screen doors need attention as well. Overall we enjoyed our stay!
