About this property
Peaceful 1860's farmhouse in St. Johnsbury, VT
Sparrow House is a remote and restful Vermont retreat perfect for those seeking a calm, verdant oasis in a quiet corner of New England. The 1800s farmhouse is located on 40 hilly acres ideal for peaceful, restorative hikes surrounded by woods and streams. The home frames multiple views of a sweeping valley and beautiful Burke Mountain, Kirby Mountain and the White Mountains.
Kingdom Trails biking, Burke Mountain skiing and winter sports are a short 15-minute drive away, as are the historic villages of Saint Johnsbury and Lyndonville with scores of locally-sourced grocery stores, antiques and specialty shops, along with attractions like the Fairbanks Museum and its planetarium.
The home itself is classic Vermont cozy with a bright farmhouse kitchen, one-and-a-half baths, three large bedrooms outfitted with queen beds and an additional sleeping nook on the second floor landing with two twin beds. All mattresses are from Tuft & Needle.
The main room, clad in restored barn wood, offers an additional leather pull out sofa and dining area with unspoiled mountain views. A back raised patio is perfect for a glass of wine on warmer evenings, a fire on cooler ones and stargazing year-round.
The home’s living space includes an 800-sq. ft. yoga/meditation room lined with two walls of windows framing additional mountain and forest views. It can double as an ideal, quiet workspace for those working remotely.
The home is well appointed with everything you need for a comfortable stay including a fully-equipped kitchen, WIFI, TV and DVD player, warm duvets for cold Vermont nights and ample linens.
