Main Cabin : Unique, completely off grid cabin situated on nearly 20 acres with almost 2000 ft of private Big Manistee River frontage. The original cabin has been updated for a cozy atmosphere with amazing picturesque views. Bedroom 1 features a queen bed with closet and large picture window with view of the river. Bedroom 2 features two unique twin beds with closet. The kitchen features three picture windows for a full view of the river from end to end, new stainless appliances and granite countertops. Living room features sleeper sofa, large flat screen television, a cozy gas log fireplace and large window with river views. Home is fully off grid run only by solar power. Fish from the banks of the river or bring your boat. Watch wildlife from inside the cabin, outside, or down by the river. Nature at it's finest. Propane grill provided for guest use. Guests should clean after using and re-cover. Fire Pit overlooking the river with seating available. Please do not move wood Michigan shaped chairs to avoid damage to the mechanism. Fires should be completely extinguished prior to departure or retreating indoors for the evening.
Guests should be prepared to travel 1 1/2-2 miles on a seasonal road. This road can get bumpy and muddy after heavy rains. 4wd vehicles are not normally required.
Our new gravel road allows guests to drive down to the river. Perfect for those with difficulty navigating stairs or steep hills. Please no mud terrain tires. Guests may do so at their own risk. 4wd required to take trail to the river.
NO Pets. No exceptions. No Smoking indoors- no exceptions. Firewood NOT provided. NO FISH CLEANING. Guests will be charged for cleaning fish on property. Fish remains are easily detectable even when thrown over the hill and guests WILL be charged for the clean up. It causes unnecessary problems and discomfort to other guests. Be courteous.
Area near cabin is cedar fenced near the edge of the steep hill but children should be supervised at ALL times.
What's not available off grid? Most amenities are available and fully supported by the solar power system. Guests should not use Air Conditioning after the sun has set to avoid using too much power. Washer, Dryer, Dishwasher, and Hair Dryer not available.
Direct TV Satellite Television, Dvd Player with some DVD's available. WiFi available but weak- do not rely on WiFi for work. WiFi seems to work best outdoors on clear days but we do experience issues in the evenings while indoors or when it's cloudy/storming. We do not advertise WIFI only because we do not want to mislead guests about connectivity but we are frequently able to stream netflix when we utilize the cabin ourselves.
Guests should contact us with all questions prior to booking.

My family and i enjoyed an amazing 4th of July weekend at this beautiful property. It was everything we imagined and more. The pictures do not do it justice. Only downside was the wifi but we hope they upgrade it soon as it would have made the trip prefect.
Couldn’t ask for better views!! the cabin was very cute, spacious, very clean and had everything we needed.

Thank you for reviewing your stay! I'm glad that you enjoyed your time here! I love waking up to the sun peaking through the trees. Never a disappointing view! Even stormy nights have beauty! Hope to have you again!
We stayed to visit family in the area and were so impressed with the house and location! The birds were amazing! The house is very comfortable and has both great indoor and outdoor areas to enjoy! We really enjoyed the kitchen and the fire pit area. We will definitely be back!
What a beautiful Location. probably the best scenic and cozy cabin in brethren Michigan. Alicia was great and even though her husband was in a accident she still found the time to find some one to bring us wood. Anyone staying here will know why best place on Manistee River. look out for the bald eagles, some flying around they are beautiful.
This was our second consecutive family trip. We love the location, and the views. This year, in addition to enjoying the salmon jumps, we got to see two beautiful bald eagles. This was a great end for our trip.
Wonderful place, well remodeled! River was perfect, owners were very accommodating, they've put a lot into it! Great solitude, bald eagles, wonderful river access, exactly perfect. I'd suggest bringing a water filter, as the tap water is very iron tasting.
We had so much fun making memories hiking through the property, checking out the stars at night, and sitting with the family around the fire ! 10/10 would recommend again!

Thank you for your review! We are so glad that you enjoyed this cabin as much as we do! The daytime and nighttime views cannot be beat!
This home was beautifully decorated and stocked with all the necessities! Stunning views of the Manistee River and nature all around! Enjoyed coffee on the swing and relaxing fireside. Perfect, relaxing getaway! Definitely would come again! Smooth, easy check-in process.
The accommodations were nice, place has a beautiful view of the river; only downside is we lost power a number of times. It was only for a few minutes at a time and multiple days, but it was annoying.
Absolutely loved the cabin, location, and view. This is a one-of-a-kind spot on the Manistee River, off the grid. If you want quiet wilderness, wildlife, and a place to fish away from the crowd, this is it. Cabin would be accessible with any vehicle, but would recommend a 4x4 or AWD to take the gravel road down to the edge of the river, due to the steepness of it. Could walk, but it was really nice to drive down and park right by the water. We had great communication with owners. We will be back.
My girlfriends and I wanted to disconnect for a couple of days and our criteria were a cabin in the woods on the water - with a decent bathroom and kitchen. This cabin was PERFECT! it was exactly as described, clean and waaaaaaaay back in the woods. You feel like you’re in the middle of a jungle, high up in the treetops. It rained most of the weekend so we didn’t get to explore outdoors as much as we would have liked but, we made our way down to the river and put our feet in so we counted that as a win! It’s absolutely beautiful there. We highly recommend it and are planning to go back this fall.
Truly exceeded our expectations. Has to be seen to be appreciated. The online pictures do not do it justice. It is quality all the way, tastefully decorated. Classy without being pretentious.
It’s amazingly private and the views of the river and surrounding woodlands are fantastic. Beautiful place to see the sunrise. We had a pair of bald eagles to watch every day. It is solar powered with the exception of propane for the gas stove, fireplace and heat. The standby generator is also fueled by propane.
We will definitely go back and would love to spend more than 3 nights next time. We really hated to leave. Five star property in every way!

About the host
Hosted by Alicia Cook
I live locally with my husband and three children. We love the outdoors and love sharing it with others. We have many long and short term rentals in the area but operate an Automotive Repair Facility by day! Our rentals are our passion and we can't wait to host you!
Why they chose this property
Why NOT!? What a unique opportunity it was to purchase a private Manistee River parcel. The frontage combined with the acreage were a bonus to the beautiful views. We basically camped on this property while we renovated it because it was such a beautiful place to be. Drinking my coffee in the early mornings watching the sun rise and listening to the river flow was a great way to start my day. We love this place and we hope you do too!
