Nature's Den | Pet-Friendly, Mountaintop Cabin in Columbus
Are you seeking a memorable vacation experience? Look no further than Nature's Den - a beautifully renovated mountain cabin in Columbus, North Carolina. With easy access to trails, waterfalls, and more, this two-bedroom retreat is the perfect home base for your next North Carolina mountain getaway.
Nature's Den is situated at the top of an exclusive, private mountain community and is a guest favorite. The owners have outfitted and equipped this cabin with your needs in mind, creating the ultimate vacation experience.
Inside the cabin, you will find a contemporary mountain-style haven with high ceilings, vaulted spaces, wood and tile floors, and breathtaking forest views. The great room, complete with a stone fireplace and fully equipped kitchen, is the perfect gathering spot for friends and family. However, if you need some alone time, there is plenty of space inside and out to find your serenity. Outside, there are three decks with unlimited mountain views, as well as an expansive full-length front porch just off the kitchen and great room. The White Oak community is perfect for exploring, with safe places for kids to play and adults to hike and ride bikes. When the day is done, you can relax and unwind as you take in the star-filled nights and the fireflies that come out to play in your backyard.
If you're a horse enthusiast, you'll be happy to know that you're in horse country and close to the Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC), a year-round venue uncovered in Mill Spring, NC — about 25-40 minutes away from the cabin depending on traffic conditions. It's the world's premier Equestrian Lifestyle Destination, showcasing some of the top riders in the Hunter/Jumper, Dressage, and Eventing disciplines.
For outdoor enthusiasts, you're only minutes away from America's favorite scenic byway, The Blue Ridge Parkway, as well as opportunities for motorcycle touring, biking, hiking, white water rafting, rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing, zip lining, Segway tours, and more.
Our cabin is conveniently located in Columbus, NC, near the charming villages of Saluda and Tryon. You can experience a small-town American vibe, festivals, and activities year-round. You can head to downtown Hendersonville or Asheville for first-rate restaurants, shopping, galleries, spas, and entertainment. The Asheville Regional Airport is just 25 minutes away, and the Biltmore Estate is a 45-minute drive from our cabin.
Most importantly the drive to the house is fully paved to the door with ample parking. Be aware that the ascent involves navigating a one-lane road with sharp turns and a notably steep incline. There are no guard rails, which might be disconcerting for those unaccustomed to mountainous terrain. While some guests find the drive exhilarating, we understand that others may prefer a more straightforward approach. Please consider this aspect when planning your visit to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay at Nature's Den. We prioritize transparency to ensure our guests have all the information they need for a memorable experience.
Escape to the top of White Oak Mountain and discover the best of North Carolina. Plan your stay at Nature's Den today and immerse yourself in the natural beauty of this serene paradise.

Harley, thanks so much for 5-stars :) We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed your time at Nature's Den. The views here are absolutely beautiful! Come back anytime!
Our stay at this mountain cabin was absolutely wonderful. The cabin itself is cozy, spotless, and thoughtfully decorated, with all the modern comforts you’d want while still feeling rustic and tucked away in nature. The views from the porch are breathtaking—especially at sunrise with a cup of coffee in hand. The kitchen was well-stocked, making it easy to cook meals, and the fireplace created the perfect atmosphere for relaxing evenings. The location strikes a great balance: private and peaceful, yet only a short drive to hiking trails, local shops, and restaurants. Our host was fantastic—responsive, friendly, and clearly attentive to the details that make a stay memorable. We left feeling refreshed and can’t wait to come back. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a quiet retreat in the mountains!

Julie, thanks so much for 5-stars! We are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed a private mountain-top retreat at Nature's Den, and we hope to host you again soon!
Very nice cabin, tv worked well, however the WiFi and internet was not available 99% of the time. Definitely need a awd vehicle to get up the mountain and then the driveway. Very quiet area, nice getaway from the hustle and bustle.

Julianne, thank you so much for your kind review! We're happy to hear you enjoyed Nature's Den and the quiet getaway it offers. We apologize for the WiFi/internet issues you experienced; the mountains don't always allow for "perfect" connection, but we're always looking for possible improvements. Mountain roads can certainly be a bit tricky, but we’re glad you were able to enjoy the peaceful surroundings :) We’d love to have you back for another relaxing stay at this or any Yonder home!
We stayed for 3 nights at this amazing place! We arrived after dark, and I wouldn't suggest doing that if you are not familiar with the roads. Once we drove them during the daylight hours, it was fine. The property was extremely clean and very convienent to everything! We would definitely stay here again!

Jon-Dagan, thanks for your review! We're so pleased to hear that you loved your stay at Nature's Den. We hope to host you again in the future for an even better experience :)
Great place with beautiful views! Although not for people who don't like difficult driving, it truly is at the tippy top of the mountain with switchback turns and no guardrail going up. But it was super easy to get to town, we spent a lot of time enjoying coffee on the front porch with awesome views and total privacy, and very easy access to the Tryon horse show as well which we were there for. Overall a great place to be in nature without being too far from everything else!

It was a peaceful get away just like we had planned. Was prepared for “curvy roads” but not being able to turn in the driveway except for passing it and turning around to go in the other direction. Thankfully we were able to turn around at the neighbors driveway up the hill. Hope they didn’t mind! That was the only way in the drive with a large SUV.

Thank you for your review! We’re very happy that you were pleased with your stay.
This was our second time at Nature’s Den this year. We also stayed in early April. While the leaves were out on this stay and limited the view of White Oak Mountain, the front porch was still delightful. Home was clean as usual and we made use of the kitchen for all our meals. Daily hikes with spectacular views were a highlight. Highly recommend the property.

Hugh, thank you for the 5-star review! We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed your 2nd stay at Nature's Den. We hope you're all doing well, and Yonder can't wait to see you again!
My husband and I and two boys, age 4 and 2, stayed for four nights and we were all sad to leave!
The cabin is exactly as shown in the photos. It was spotless and smelled like new when we arrived. It was well equipped with all the things we needed to settle in comfortably.
We spent most of our time outside hunting for acorns and bugs. It was a short ride to the farmers market, town of Tryon and the Skytop Orchard.
We would 100% stay here again!

This home was very clean. There were very strict rules that you were told after you booked and paid. All in all it was nice, needs updates to the beds.

We do understand that some of our house rules can feel strict, but they're in place to help ensure a consistent and positive experience for all guests :) We also appreciate your feedback on the beds and we will pass that along for the owner's consideration.
The house was all and more than we expected, very clean and well maintained, everything you need is at this house. I read other reviews about the drive up the mountain and have to say it was a really cool and nothing to be concerned about. By the time we left we could get up to the house in 8 minutes. You would foolish if you didn’t check this home out, absolutely awesome!!!

Did not stay Road to house was too difficult to travel back and forth to Tryon equestrion center at least twice a day and they advertise very close to that location. It is 14 miles and takes over 40 minutes one way. We chose not to stay

Diane, we apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with the distance and travel time to the Tryon Equestrian Center from Nature's Den. We understand the importance of accurate location information and apologize if our description led to any misunderstanding about the proximity to the center. After a quick search on Apple Maps, there are three route options provided from the home to TIEC ranging from 25-27 minutes, though events/other traffic factors may change those estimates depending on time of year. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and we sincerely apologize again for any confusion.
You might want to reiterate the drive-up and make a special note about the Driveway. Some folks might not be able to handle that sort of thing. It was impressive nonetheless. Funny note, I am always teasing my girlfriend that "my driving skills are unmatched!" LoL all in jest. But I had the opportunity to show off this trip. LoL. God bless you, yours, and the property.

Christian, thank you for the kind words and thoughtful feedback! We’re glad you enjoyed your stay at Nature's Den — and that the driveway gave you a chance to prove your unmatched driving skills ;) The mountain roads are all part of the adventure! We hope to welcome you back again!
If you're not afraid of winding mountain roads this one was PERFECT!! You have to pass the driveway, turn around, then come back & enter drive way.
We walked in and instantly we were not disappointed. I could have spent my entire vacation in the home & on the property. It was clean, comfortable, & thoughtfully supplied. I wasn't ready to end my vacation & leave.
We spent our evenings in front of the fireplace planning our next day excursions. In the morning I drank my coffee on the porch in the crisp mountain air while listening to the birds rush around in thier morning routines.
We needed a extension on our checkout time & we were able to achieve that without issue.
I would highly recommend this property to anyone. Thank you for the wonderful visit.
Sincerely,
D. Johnson

We’re thrilled to hear that Nature's Den made such a strong impression — it sounds like you truly embraced the peaceful mountain experience :) From cozy evenings by the fireplace to crisp mornings on the porch, we’re glad it offered exactly what you needed. We’d love to welcome you back anytime you're ready for another escape!
Beautiful! BUT The road is not for the faint of heart!
The cabin is really beautiful, clean, and as described. Communication with Michelle and the Yonder team was friendly and fast!As others have stated, the drive up the mountain is not to be dismissed, especially after the recent storm. At points it is single lane, no guardrail switchbacks. “Don’t drive it at night” is a rule for locals, not just tourists. There is basically no cell service. It was a little unnerving being off the grid at times, especially considering the road. I was able to connect to the satellite outside, sometimes, on a clear night. But the cabin really is beautiful, comfortable and well appointed. It is a great spot to really get away in complete comfort. The dog run is nice and secure, having it right off the bedroom is perfect! We were really disappointed we couldn’t stay due to the Nature of our trip and lack of access after dark. Will definitely look for other Yonder properties in our travels!

Keith, thank you so much for your thoughtful review! We’re thrilled to hear you enjoyed Nature's Den’s beauty, comfort, and the communication with Michelle and the Yonder team. We absolutely understand your concerns about the road, and it’s good to know that the advice to avoid it after dark was helpful. We do strive to make the property as peaceful and comfortable as possible, especially for guests who want to fully disconnect, but we recognize the challenges that come with being in such a secluded location. We're sorry you weren't able to stay longer, but we’re so glad you’re considering other Yonder properties for your future travels :) We’d love to host you again!
