Unfortunately we were unable to stay due to a huge storm system moving through Iowa and Wisconsin causing flooding, but I cannot speak highly enough of Melissa’s promptness, kindness, helpfulness, and flexibility. She is outstanding. We are still really disappointed we did not get to come to this beautiful home but we are determined to come in the future. Melissa is a lovely person and so understanding of travel and kids and safety.
It was wonderful. House was clean, well organized, well appointed. It has a private driveway in a remote location with no other houses around. My husband really enjoyed the trout stream and was quite successful fly fishing. Viroqua farmers market is a must along with the Driftless Cafe. Lots of canoeing and hiking opportunities in the area. I really wish there was a bathroom in the upstairs master though. Overnight pees were a pain.
We’ve stayed at this beautiful cabin several times. The cabin is very comfortable and located in a secluded area. Melissa was great to work with and helped us out quickly when we had a question. We always look forward to a vacation here!
Perfect cabin surrounded by trees giving lots of privacy. You can hear the river on the porch. It's in one of the best valleys in the area. We can't wait to come again.
Very nice log cabin and amenities for our family weekend with our adult children and grandson. Nice beds. Good accessories in kitchen for cooking, including spices. Great directions for things. Will visit again!
The cabin was clean and well maintained. Had a number of extra amenities. Nice secluded setting. Great access to a great trout stream. Would return in a heartbeat.
When we arrived we didn’t know what to expect and I couldn’t have more excited with the results. The cabin was perfectly located for my family, clean, big enough to each have our own space, and adequately stocked to support our celebration. Thanks for exceeding my expectations and I will be back for sure!!!
We'd loved our stay at this cabin on the Bad Ax. It housed our group of 6 with room to spare. The owners have given so much thought to the smallest details and it was super clean. My husband walked down to the river every morning for several hours of fishing. We hope to stay again!
A truly beautiful, quiet getaway. We enjoyed sitting on the porch and watching the wildlife. The property was clean and well supplied.
My wife has a bad back and would have appreciated a firmer mattress, so others who need a very very firm mattress should be aware, but the rest of us were quite satisfied.
This property is beautiful, high up in the hills, very private.
The cabin is amazing. Had everything we could possible need. Linda-the caretaker- was also wonderful. Easy access to LaCrosse for shopping among other places to visit. Would recommend this place to other adults and families. Thank you for everything. Nancy
Hard to imagine a property that matches amenity with the charm of the Driftless region, but that's exactly the case with the Serendipity House.
I sat on the porch for about 25-30 minutes using a bird call ID, which registered 21 different species. Top quality location, top shelf hosts and a future reservation already in the plans.
This cabin was everything we were hoping for in our winter weekend get away. Owner answered all our questions in timely manner leading up to our visit. Arrival was easy. Cabin was very clean & has a well equipped kitchen for cooking meals during our stay. Beds were so comfortable to sleep in. We enjoyed exploring their property in the snow. The cabin has a lot of character, and kept us warm on bitter cold days. Would definitely go back.
Beautiful cabin; very private with lots of "wildlife at large" in the form of a deer and her twin fawns! This is the place for you if interested in R&R in a beautiful surrounding. Kitchen well stocked with whatever we needed; the beds are VERY comfy. Firepit was great for roasting hot dogs and making smores. Great place to celebrate our June birthdays and town close by if supplies are needed. Check out Sidie Hollow Park for a walk around its "lake" for the view and the exercise. We hope to return in future!
We enjoyed this lovely, quiet place. Everything works, beds comfortable, nice to be near town but quite removed. The only problem was deep mud right outside the door. We always removed our shoes immediately inside, but the mud did come home with us. Maybe an asphalt pad right in front of the house?
We meet up 2 times a year once in Wisconsin and once in Illinois. This was the Wisconsin visit - we both have a dog but they cannot be by each other. The set up of this house worked perfectly. Nothing baby gates couldn’t separate. Beautiful home.
This cabin is CLEAN !! Shoutout to LINDA!!! who cleans the cabin very thoroughly and has great attention to detail for any issues that need attention. And the cabin has about everything you need to prepare your food in terms of dishes, pans, bakeware, small appliances--even a pretty well stocked pantry with the basics (I forgot sugar for one of my recipes, but there it was in the pantry). The trout stream is just down the road. Sidie Hollow Co Park is just a short drive, very nice. Highly recommend. DENISE M.
We spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day at the cabin. It was a perfect winter wonderland. It was warm and cozy even just with the two of us. Every time I looked out or went outside I saw deer. Just beautiful.
There is an elevated track and some snow came down before we left. I rang the owners and she sent someone. Within 30 minutes of the call we were on our way home.
The area is stunning and we look forward to returning in the summer and would definitely book The Serendipity Cabin again.
Thanks Chris and Melissa for sharing you’re home and giving great service.
The house is lovely and up to date. Nice sleeping quarters and good kitchen for cooking. The location is quite rural and relaxing, which we very much enjoyed. Check-in was easy, wifi was very good. The only thing we found surprising was the absence of soap and shampoo for showering. We sent a message to the owner but didn't get a response. We were able to purchase both in Viroqua, but would have preferred to know in advance that those things were not provided. I'd also suggest that for hand soap (which we did find), the owner might want to choose unscented products for those with sensitivities.
Terrific contemporary yet rustic cabin nestled within the beautiful Driftless hills, streams and valleys. Close to great trout fishing and to Viroqua for supplies … or a good restaurant!
Bright, cheery log home interior with an outstanding modern kitchen, big screen TV, internet, fireplace, plush furniture, outside decks, comfy beds and a fire pit outside. Comfortably accommodated our group of six. Our host was easy to reach and responsive to our requests.
Great place! Enjoyed our stay!
