This cabin has a cozy living room with a wood burning stove and a beautiful rock wall and spacious kitchen to cook your meals. Sit and drink your coffee or tea in the sun room, looking out at the mountain side where you will see several different types of birds.
The master bedroom nook with a queen size bed is tucked behind the bathroom. Climb up the attic ladder to two more sleeping spaces, a loft with another queen bed and an attic room with a twin.
The cell coverage up on Palomar Mountain is hit or miss. At this cabin, we have an AT&T booster but most other carriers do not get service. **We do not have WIFI. ** Our family enjoys being disconnected from the rest of the world(as the cabin does not have internet); playing games, reading books and taking hikes. We do have a TV and a DVD player with variety movies.
Our cabin located down a dirt road and 4wd is required to drive and park at the cabin, and for all other vehicles we have parking about 400 feet up the road. When it snows, all vehicles must park up the road at the parking spot.

We had such a great stay! The cabin was cozy & cute and we really appreciated the nice touches like a fully stocked bathroom (towels etc), front room (board games, TV, etc) and kitchen (dishes etc). The location was great too, close to the state park which had great trails to explore. I would definitely stay again!
We had three amazing days at the cabin in a very charming ambient. The snow outside and the wood-heating stove, the wooden decoration, the surrounding nature… Just amazing. The area is great to walk, relax for some days and disconnect from the daily routine. We all, adults and kids just loved it and we are counting the days to be back there :)
The cabin was exactly what we needed, nothing too big and had a great enclosed yard space for our dogs. Everything was very comfortable and all you needed to bring was your clothes and food.
Jennifer was quick to respond to questions and was great with communicating all the particulars of the location.
Woodland Hidway was just as listed very clean and Quiet.
We came to Woodland Hideway to get away from the fireworks. Our dog is terrified. It was perfect !!!!

Palomar Stay
This is a small cabin that would be fine for 2 adults and a few kids over the age of 6. The upstairs loft had no lighting in the main room. The downstairs area was nice. The kitchen was well stocked. We had 4 adults and a 2 year old. So it wasn't the perfect place for us.
This really is a woodland hideaway! My husband and I felt like hobbits walking through the door and into the cabin. It’s perfect size for a couple or two. There is also a small attic room for the kids, which was so cute. I loved the decorations. We enjoyed a guided tour at the palomar observatory. Overall, we enjoyed our quiet weekend retreat! My only caution would be to make sure you have 4WD if you park next to the cabin. Otherwise, there’s specific instructions on where to park without 4WD. There is also no cell service for most carriers. If you are like us and wanting to check on the kids, just know you’ll have to drive into service for that.
My group and I had an absolutely amazing time here! This was the perfect space for a weekend getaway. We appreciated unplugging from service/wifi to instead go on walks, explore the state park, get cozy, and play games. The owners have a great eye for interior design, because they truly curated such a cute and comfy space! We were so sad to have to leave. The cabin can definitely get cold, but with the wood-burning stove for heat we barely even had to use a space heater (of which they have multiple). The folks who slept downstairs definitely got cold in the early morning, but those who slept upstairs in the loft were nice and toasty all night. I definitely recommend bringing slippers or extra thick socks, because walking around at night on the hardwood floors gets chilly. Our car didn't have 4WD, so we parked at the top of the hill where there was a clearly designated space. Walking up/down the big hill to unload/load our stuff was a workout, but not too bad with our group of 4. We would definitely stay here again! :)
This is a really nice cabin. Pay attention to owner's instructions regarding 4WD. It's challenging to get up & down the hill. Beautiful location. Reasonable proximity to Lake Henshaw. (Get there early if you want to rent a boat.) Could use bigger fridge & freezer. Just plan on leaving your drinks in an ice filled cooler. You'll probably be fine. Bring your own DVD's. No cell or wifi at the house. But, you can hike up the hill if you really need to check emails. And, bring a long extension cord & splitter if your kids want to charge or use electronics in the upstairs loft. Big upside... Our teens actually watched watched movies and played table games with us! All 4 of us agreed, we'd definitely come back.

Disliked: Location
I booked two nights but left after one.
THE GOOD
- Cabin is nicely decorated, visually very nice and it definitely has a cabin vibe.
- Solid kitchen and bathroom, appliances seem new, has a couple of cozy rocking chairs.
THE BAD
- Accessibility is poor - there is no maintained road to the cabin. What used to be the road taking you to the cabin has been eaten away by erosion. They'll tell you 4-wheel drive is required when in reality you'll need a vehicle with off-road capabilities and high ground clearance. This is not your average bumpy cabin road, it has 1ft deep crevices throughout the road. Neighbors were ripping the road up and down in lifted trucks so apparently they don't care about maintaining it. You can park on top of the hill and walk down but it's a long way to carry all your belongings.
- The cabin is cold and drafty. No insulation. There's one nice wood burning stove that does heat up the place partially, but it's not enough to heat up the whole place. The main bed and kitchen downstairs remain cold when burning the stove. The stove does not retain heat so at night you'll stay up adding wood, or you'll get cold. The cabin has two small radiators that the host will ask you to use sparingly or not at all.
- Ladder to upstairs loft is very home made and flimsy. Not safe for children or older guests.
- It seems remote but you'll have neighbors on every side. Some windows are looking directly at the neighbors house and yard, others are facing the road where people are passing by and staring at you.
