Check in was flawless with keys exactly where they were communicated to be. Kitchen was fully equipped and clean. Beds were comfortable and swimming was good. Overall, this is a first-rate rental. The hosts were accessible and friendly. The outside amenities were also very good. Very peaceful part of the lake.

We would love to have you back in summer! You are right, it can be a bit windy, especially when the wind is from the south. But whether winter or summer, when the wind is from the north, it’s always peaceful and majestic.
Thanks for the kind words and come back anytime!
We loved our time at the cottage so much we can for the 2nd year and looking forward to next year at the lake. Great place for the grandkids to swim, fish and have fun together. It is a wonderful lake/town to spend the 4th! Glad you and your group enjoyed. You were great guests and welcome back anytime.
Cottage was as advertised and very well equipped. Extremely clean and well maintained. Swimming was good and fishing for perch off the dock although shallow was fun for the kids with several jumbo perch.

Thank you for the review! I am stoked that you landed some jumbo pearch off the dock! I have a few “secret” pearch spots out on the water, but have never really tried much off the dock. Good to know! Thank you for being great tenants.
We had a great time as a family at this property. Second time we've been there. Hosts are great at communicating. Property was as advertised! 5 out of 5 stars.

The deck and lake view is our favorite part as well! So glad you enjoyed your stay.
We enjoyed this large and comfortable home on the lake. Both sets of grandparents and our children and grandchildren had a fun time spending 5 days on the lake. The kitchen is well stocked, 2 lovely decks to relax on and plenty of square footage to find a quiet place for some quiet time. Owners were very accommodating and responsive,

We are so happy you chose to stay at our property! And my goodness did you leave the house clean! Sounds like you had a great time. Thank you again!
The house is very nice, and slept 8 adults very comfortable, would easily sleep more if were family. Lake access and access to trails was easy and not far from gas stations and restaurants. Parking was a little tricky, mostly because we had four trucks with 4 trailers over 24' but we made it work. would have been easy with 1 or 2 tow units. We would stay there again for sure.

Thank you for the feedback! We love the proximity to the trails and immediate lake access through our easement for winter toys. I am glad you were able to figure out how to make the parking work. Sounds like a lot of equipment and sleds!
We enjoyed our time at the lake cottage. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed. The beds were great, living area fit all our needs. The kids loved the swimming and were able to catch fish right off the dock.. plenty of dock room for our 2 boats. The hosts answered our questions right away. We definitely want to come back next summer.
Thanks for sharing your lake home with us.

it sounds like you had an amazing stay! glad to hear the fish were biting right off the dock. the sandy swimming area around the dock is hands down one of our favorite things about the property. you are welcome back anytime!
We had a wonderful stay in Crandon. The property accommodated all 7 of us and was stocked with everything we needed. My daughters enjoyed the kayaks and the paddle boat and also playing the wii in the evenings. The view from the deck of the lake is beautiful. We brought our boat and the launch was close and it was easy to tie up at the dock. The lake is sandy off the dock and nice for swimming. We spent a lot of time boating on the lake and especially enjoyed seeing eagles, loons, baby ducks, and a muskrat! Thanks to the owners for sharing their lake home!

Thank you for the wonderful review! The sandy lake bottom, and view from the house, are most certainly two of our favorite things as well. The eagles have flight patterns very near the north shore, so happy you got to see them! Thank you for staying!
We had an absolute blast! The property was everything we needed for a family with growing babies. My parents were thrilled to be able to take their 3 girls, and their grandkids and actually have the space and privacy for everyone. The downstairs was great for the bigger kids and adults without babies, while having 3 babies under 1 upstairs! We didn’t hear a thing down there. The lake was gorgeous, the house has everything you could ever need and more. We can’t wait to go back and make more memories again!

Thank you so much for the wonderful review and for being great guests. Also special thank you for restocking some of the paper products. That did not go unnoticed and it is very much appreciated! To your note about privacy, that is one of the reasons why we love entertaining friends and family at our cabin. The downstairs set up is almost like its own little apartment for a separate group or family while the upstairs is completely segregated in terms of bedrooms, noise, and privacy.
Very spacious, clean, family friendly lake house that was affordable. Our family loved staying on Lake Metonga. Clean lake, not too crowded & shallow enough near dock for kids to play, fish and swim. So glad you shared your kayak’s. House had everything we needed and great restaurants/gas stations & ice cream close by. Kiddos enjoyed the dvd player & wii in the basement. Boat ramp was easily accessible & right by the sand Vball courts. Some of our favorite memories were try to get 1st time skiers up, s’mores by campfire & ring/hook game.

We adored your entry in our “cottage journal”
Thank you for staying and being such great guests. The kayaks are always a big hit :)
Also, so nice to hear that you got to enjoy the local restaurants. So much good food in the area.
From the minute we stepped foot into the lake house, we knew we had made a great choice. The views were amazing, the house was inviting and comfortable. The best part was that our teenage boys loved it, too, and said we should "do it again there next year!" Our kids have NEVER asked to repeat a vacation, so this was a first, but definitely a memory-making space for sure. The lake is gorgeous-we fished and skiied and boated--and even took the boys to dinner across the lake and to the Bare A-- Beach for a lazy afternoon tie-up. Campfires, loons, stars, oh my! You can't beat this property for a family vacation of a lifetime. We'll definitely be back! Thanks for being awesome hosts and sharing your beautiful property with our family.

This is exactly what we love to hear. Thank you! It was a pleasure hosting you. Charleys across the lake is a great stop for lunch or dinner, we go there often, sometimes just for a cocktail and bathroom break. Bare-a** beach is a great spot to tie up or drop anchor when the wind is from the north. We would love to have you back!
Our family of 6 (kids ages 14, 12, 10, 8) had a wonderful time at this cottage on Lake Metonga. The home was extremely clean, well-stocked with anything a family could need, and situated on a beautiful lake! We enjoyed boating, tubing, fishing, and swimming outdoors on the days where the weather was nice. The kids loved the kayaks and the paddle boat, and spent a lot of time out on the water. On rainy days, we had fun playing games, watching movies, and playing the Wii. The owners of this property are excellent, as they've thought of everything, and communication was quick and helpful. We found the 'Welcome Binder' to be helpful and tried out many of their suggestions during our stay. We highly recommend staying at this cottage on Lake Metonga, and would love to return in the future!

Thank you for the wonderful review, Amiee! We put a lot of work into making our lake house cottage a perfect family destination. I am sure there are many things we haven’t thought of yet, but because this is our personal vacation home as well, we like to believe this place is set up, stocked, and ready to make memories for any family. So happy you enjoyed your stay! You are welcome back any time!!
The house was very clean and well stocked. We had an amazing time. The hosts were very accomodating and went above and beyond to help us. We were stranded on the lake and they were able to message neighbors to provide assistance, talk about full service and caring for others! This is our favorite place to stay up north, would highly recommend this to anyone. We will be back next year!
We had an unlucky week with the weather, but did get a nice day for lake fun! Regardless, we did have an amazing time at this place! The house is great and there is a beautiful view over the lake and with plenty of wildlife.

About the host
Hosted by Todd & Carolyn Simon
We are Wisconsin residents who had always loved the Northwoods. In 2020 our dream of owning a lake home came true! We use this property as our personal vacation home, and are simply in love with all things Lake Metonga and Crandon have to offer. It was only after we started vacationing to the cabin that we decided that we would like to share this beautiful lake home with short term rental tenants to enjoy the same way that we do. We love making memories at the cabin with our 3 daughters, family, and close friends. We hope that you will do the same!
Why they chose this property
There are dozens of VRBO properties to choose from. So why should you book this one? Let's start with the sandy shore line and crystal clear water. There is literally no muck anywhere near our shore. The grade of the water is so mild that you can be 100 feet from shore and only in 2 1/2 feet of water. It is the perfect swimming shoreline! The firepit allows for some of the most breathtaking views of the lake at sunset. We are a big bon fire family, and once you experience your first sunset on Lake Metonga with the fire rolling, all you will be able to do is smile! The house itself has a great floorplan. It's ideally situated for 1-3 families to have the time of their lives! And you will never feel "on-top" of each other. UTV and snowmobile trails galore!! All you need to do is look at the UTV/snowmobile trail map and you will see endless miles of trails to explore! Downtown Crandon has a lot of hidden gems too! Yeti's is a drive-in style ice cream shop/summer diner. Hollywood Hill/Crandon Saloon has never disappointed us with their outdoor cantina-style taco truck and yard games, Charlies is a blast to boat or UTV/snowmobile to, and Lake Avenue family restaurant has some of the best pizza around. Trish's Treasures is a lovely boutique in downtown Crandon, and there are plenty of other shops to check out as well.
What makes this property unique
WIFI city sewer and water fully furnished home full-rec lake with good fishing easy access, and short travel time, to UTV/snowmobile trails 2 casinos near also near: many golf courses, restaurants, bars, diners, shopping options
