Our Story: Once upon a time, there was a happy family of 7--A mom, a dad, 3 boys, and 2 girls. Dad, a PE teacher at the local school and CPR instructor on the side, worked hard so that Mom could stay home and homeschool their 5 kids. Dad worked very hard and in his free time (of which there was very little), he loved to do woodworking projects, so he decided to turn the top part of his garage into a woodshop. He would take his kids, and even their friends along with his nieces and nephews, up in the woodshop to make fun projects with wood. He even made some beautiful things for Mom up there. Dad loved his woodshop.
As the years marched on and the kids grew into teenagers and young adults, some of them found girlfriends and boyfriends, and eventually all of the boys ended up getting married. Mom thought she would lose her mind when they all decided to get married within 6 months of each other. She better understood the exclamation, “Oh, boy!”, or “Oh, boys!” as it were. The youngest son, Josh, had fallen for the neighbor girl, Olivia, who lived across Pusey Mill Road. They had known each other since they had been 13, and when they were both 18, Josh asked Olivia to marry him. But where would they live?
Mom and Dad wanted to help Josh and Olivia in any way they could because they loved them both so much. So Dad said, “Hey, why don’t we turn my woodshop into an apartment and rent it to Josh and Olivia until they are able to buy their own house”. Mom, always the skeptic, said it would never work and we would never have enough time to transform it into an apartment. Dad, the eternal optimist, said “We got this!” So in January of 2019, Mom and Dad emptied the woodshop, hired some local Amish builders, and started the transformation. By September 1, 2019, the day of Josh and Olivia’s wedding, the apartment was complete.
In April 2021, Josh and Olivia bought a house. Now what? They moved out in May and by the end of June, Mom and Dad started renting out the apartment to friendly travelers who wanted to visit this beautiful part of Pennsylvania.
End of story? Nope. Remember those two girls? Well, in May of 2021, the oldest daughter got engaged to the man of her dreams and they will be getting married in April of 2021. Guess who will be renting the apartment come next April? Unfortunately, not you--or anyone besides the soon-to-be married couple. So enjoy the few months we will be renting out our old woodshop. See you again when the newlyweds-to-be buy a permanent house!
P.S. The woods on the property served as the reception area for Mom and Dad’s second son’s wedding which was 28 days before Josh and Olivia’s wedding! Oh, boy(s)!

My husband and I celebrated the new year and our 24th wedding anniversary here. It rained all weekend, but this was the perfect spot to hole up and just be together. The apartment was warm, inviting, and a destination in itself. We made breakfast and picked up take out for dinner. This was a great place to just relax and reconnect.
Here you get a real taste of rural PA surrounded by green pastures of grazing livestock with the convenience of local businesses, parks, and shopping just down the road.
Entered from a backyard balcony that oversees forest trees and boarding horses; the unit is a cozy open-space loft walled by knotty pine paneling with a shower bathroom and laundry down the stairs on the ground floor. The living space is quiet, clean, comfortable and was well thought out.
And last, but not least: the hosts Donna and Matt are considerate, gracious, accommodating, and very responsive if needed.
Thank you Matt & Donna for availing your space, which is now added to my list!
We were there to visit the parents. Donna and Matt were super nice. Place had everything we need. Place is beautifully decorated. We truly enjoyed our stay. We will definitely come back. Thank you!
My family stayed at this property for two nights. It was actually not an ideal place for two adults and two big kids because there is only one queen bed plus several air beds. The room is too crowded when airbeds are applied.
The owners were very kind and thoughtful. They left some farmed-raised eggs and syrup for us to enjoy.
The only thing I want to complain is that the A/C is really dirty and does not working well. Even set at 70 F and lower, the room was still very hot after several hours.
It is a nice place for couples with younger kids.
This Studio Loft was very spacious for two adults . There was grocery stores and restaurants within 5 to 10 minutes of loft. We were fishing a kayak tournament and had enough parking for our trailer. They also make their own maple syrup that was great. Beautiful country around loft.
We stayed here as a place to sleep close to lacrosse tournaments over the course of a weekend. Was very clean and comfortable. The surrounding area is beautiful and Kennett Square is a neat place to eat and walk around.
My family and I had a great time here. The place is beautiful, clean and quiet. It was all we needed. The owners are very nice and responsive. We are looking forward to come back soon!
I had a two-week period between selling my home and making settlement on my new home. With no family in the area, I went to VRBO to see if there were any short-term rentals in my area. I am so glad that I was able to find this apartment, I stayed here with my 3 children. The apartment was exceptionally clean and nicely finished, I loved the wood walls. The kitchen was nicely stocked as was the bathroom and living space. We had everything that we needed for our two-week stay. The kitchen even came with a crockpot, this was an awesome bonus for my busy family. The fridge was stocked with fresh eggs and homemade syrup from the owners, they were both very tasty. The back deck was nice to dine on or hang out on the porch swing. The deck backed up to a horse pasture and was very private. The kids enjoyed going on adventures through the woods and stream that are on the property, we also enjoyed a picnic at the picnic pavilion. The fire pit is located off the deck near the horse pasture and is set up with seating, we did not have an opportunity to use it, but the owners did have logs stacked as well as fire starters and a lighter. The apartment also came with the use of the grille, this was great bonus. My sons are active in sports, typically our evenings are very busy. Being able to use the grille made dinner time a breeze, I was able to throw some burgers and hotdogs on the grille before heading out to their activities. This apartment is close to a major grocery store and some local and fast-food restaurants. Dunkin, Starbucks, and Walmart are close by.
The owners were very friendly and accommodating. My check-out day was also my move in day for my new house. Check out time is 11 a.m., the owners did not have anyone booked to arrive that day and offered to allow me time past check out if needed. The owners left their cell phone number inside the apartment and were very responsive.
Overall, we had a great stay!
