About this property

Mtn Spa Retreat | Sauna + Cold Plunge I Ski In/Out

Summary:

Welcome to Fernie Mountain House, a peaceful alpine escape designed for adventure and recovery awarded VRBO 2026 Property of the Year.

Try our new private Nordic-inspired spa retreat: unwind in the wood-lined sauna, then rejuvenate with a mtn-view cold plunge barrel and hot tub. It’s the perfect way to relax after a day on the trails. Spectacular mtn views from both front and back, 4,500 sf of luxury living with 7 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms , direct entry four-car garage and elevator service.

The Space:

Stunning Panoramas, Ski-In/Out

Fernie Mountain House is a sprawling, modern take on the ski-in, ski-out experience. With BC’s unparalleled mountains all around you—plus floor-to-ceiling windows to showcase their beauty—Fernie Mountain House offers an exquisite immersion in nature. Whether you hit the slopes or rarely leave the (caramel leather) sofa.

After 25 years of annual family ski trips around the US and Canada, we found that the on-hill vacation rentals rarely lived up to our daydreams. We wanted mountain views to make your jaw drop, ski-in/out convenience, and a clean-lined, modern design that seamlessly unites indoors and out.

The next logical step for us was to bring our vision of the ideal ski home to life on our favorite mountain. We are pleased to now be able to welcome guests to our Fernie Mountain House to share in that vision!

Highlights:

- Seven bedrooms (including three Master suites with attached bathrooms)

- Seven bathrooms

- 44’ X 20’ Great Room with vaulted ceiling and a 12.5’ wall of windows

- Perfect for family getaways, work retreats, and other large gathering; plenty of privacy over three, elevator-accessed floors

- Two natural gas fireplaces (plus gas fire pit on rear deck)

- Seven-person hot tub (with winter heated walkway to house)

- Games room with dart board, ping pong and foosball tables

- Mid-level prep kitchen area with fridge and dishwasher

- Natural gas barbecue

- Two sets of washer/dryers

- Exterior, three-season warm water bike stand/wash

- Boot/glove dryer at the entries of both the second and third levels to accommodate a total of 14 pairs of boots and 14 pairs of gloves

- Ideally situated on quiet cul-de-sac

The Living Spaces

Floor-to-ceiling triple glazed windows bring harmony between BC’s boundless nature and the interior spaces—our favorite feature of the property. Bask in sweeping views of the slopes from both the front and back of the house, or get even closer to the views on the deck, with its 7-person hot tub, gas grilling station, Adirondack chairs, and sectional couch. Stay toasty with the outdoor fire feature, plus heated walkway from the hot tub back into the house (during winter season).

The high-ceilinged Great Room makes for the perfect gathering spot for movie nights or sharing stories by the fireplace. A games room adds entertainment on a lazy, stay-at-home day. Lightning speed fibre connected Wi-Fi hot zones for smoother streaming and gaming.

The Cooking & Dining Experience

Create stunning meals for your entire group without losing the sweeping mountain views! With top-of-the-line stainless steel appliances, a 5-burner gas stove, and ample room to coordinate, cooking here is a true experience. Bar seating is handy for entertaining up to 5 observers, and the bar sink lets you craft the ideal post-adventure cocktail.

RDEK licensed short term rental approved permit #10-24 provides a max of 16 guests. Settle in around the 14-person dining room table—great for celebratory feasts, brainstorming sessions with colleagues, or simply catching up with the crew. Two natural gas barbecues let you grill your favorites in the fresh mountain air.

Our property manager (and long-term resident) Bo is always nearby in Fernie. He can help arrange for on-site private chef services and will make sure libations are ready for your arrival! For an evening out, Fernie also has restaurants ranging from casual to eclectic to peruse—definitely something in town for everyone’s taste.

Bedrooms & Bathrooms

Whether you arrive with your family, your work family, or your chosen family, there’s room for everyone across 7 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms (sleeps up to 16). The bed/bath ratio ensures ample privacy. Plus, three Master suites each have private, attached bathrooms. A double set of washers and dryers keeps your gear clean.

Guest Access:

- Direct entry to four car garage via large, multi-vehicle driveway

- Elevator service to all levels (including loading from garage)

- Downhill ski in/out and Cross Country ski in trail access from rear yard

- Stunning mountain views at both front and back

- Kootenay Taxi services the ski resort and downtown quickly and affordably. They can provide a variety of 11-passenger, 6-passenger mini-vans, and larger vehicles that suit most group sizes, as well as a chartered shuttle to Cranbrook Airport (YXC) and Calgary Airport (YYZ).

The Neighborhood:

Cross-country and downhill ski trails off rear yard. A short walk to resort tennis courts and convenience store. Fernie alpine Resort is famous for its legendary powder (37 feet a season) and 5 bowls, attracting ski enthusiasts from all over the world. Still not discovered by the masses, the resort is family-friendly and well known for its uncrowded slopes. The town of Fernie is charming and cozy. With a population of only 5,000, it still offers high quality dining and entertainment - a true hidden treasure in British Columbia Rocky Mountains.

Getting Around:

Shuttle buses from Calgary International Airport; nearest airport is in Cranbrook, BC.

In the winter there's a ski shuttle that runs during the day and evening allowing guests an easy option for getting into town from the ski hill. Taxi service is also an option in Fernie.

Depending on one's dedication to cycling, Fernie is about 15 minutes away by bike. Keep in mind, the return trip includes the steep pedal up ski hill rd.
