What a fantastic stay! The location was quiet, private, and had all the necessities. Also close enough to great restaurants or places to go off site. Owner communication was easy and got quick responses. We would happily visit again!
Great hosts, great home. They really have a fantastic set up with plenty of amenities. As soon as we got home, our daughter started asking when we will visit the cottage again . Our family Can’t wait to go back!

Thank you!! We look forward to your next visit!! Plenty of fishing for all!! Nancy
Clean, quiet, peaceful; loved the location. It was far enough away from "town" to feel secluded, yet still close enough to be able to get to places quickly. Saw 3 cranes leisurely strolling across the perfectly manicured lawn. Deer, geese, raccoons, it was very neat! The drive to it is simply gorgeous. Well appointed, very cute place. If you'd like ice, make sure to pick up a bag to throw in the freezer! The lake is serene, the little enclosed porch is quaint and cozy.

Thanks for your review! It is lovely indeed. I'm sorry you bought extra ice, as we have an icemaker on the refrigerator that makes it as it's used. Thanks for staying with us.

Thank you for choosing us for your stay! We take pride in our cleanliness. We look forward to the next visit! Nancy
We rented the house for Thanksgiving and a centralized space for the family. The layout is perfect for family events/ entertaining, and was larger than we expected. It is so cute, with plenty of natural light and pretty views. We couldn't have asked for a better space, and Nancy was great to communicate with. We will be back!

Thank you!! We look forward to your return!!! Nancy
We stayed here for two weeks in between homes. The set up was perfect. The home was clean and had everything you could possibly need. Unfortunately, we did not get to use the beach and lake area as much as we what I wanted to, but able to watch the beautiful sunsets. Host was available always and very easy to work with.
I stayed with my wife and 2 boys (10 and 7.) We absolutely loved this property. The house had everything we needed and then some. The water is beautiful and they had paddle boards, fishing gear, umbrellas, life jackets, and a play pad in the water for the kids. The owners were fantastic and we could not have asked for better weather. The cat that lives on the property was a bonus! Both boys loved petting him throughout our stay. We saw deer daily as well as a cute groundhog! Can’t wait to visit again
We were in MI for our daughter's college graduation. We wanted to be away from the crowds. This was an excellent place to be able to get away, enjoy our family time, celebrate her with her friends. The cottage is modern with access to beautiful lake. It also close to restaurants and groceries. The only thing to get used to is the smell of the well water. It did not hinder our lovely time.

Thanks for your review! Yes, living in the country on well water does have a different smell than chlorinated city water. Rest assured that we do have a softener which helps significantly and why we can have white sinks that stay white. We’re glad you enjoyed the stay, along with the many friends that were included in your daughters special day. Nancy
The cottage is adorable and on such a gorgeous property. The host was beyond nice. The house was spacious enough for me, my husband and our two young kids. The amenities and finishes on the cottage really were perfect. I’d easily stay again. And we had wildlife visitors (deer family) outside the kitchen window. My son had a blast checking each night to see when they’d return during dinner time.

Sunset down at the lake…Breakfast on the patio….Cozying up with a book in the sunroom…Those are some of the relaxing pleasures from our experience at Nancy and Dan‘s place. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. It was a joy to experience the country atmosphere; allowing us to see a family of deer, a woodchuck visitor, a woodduck, sandhill cranes, and a heron, as well as hear various delightful bird songs. We were able to drive easily to nearby towns in the area like Ann Arbor. Dan and Nancy were exceptional hosts. They provided us with warm, friendly hospitality. We will definitely return someday.
Just an excellent time location and services We had 6 adults and had enough room with porch and patio. Cottage is very clean and spacious. 3 televisions was great. One bathroom was not a problem for us as we are older and shared one bathroom when we were younger and even now. Might be an issue for larger groups. We had 4 guests out for a day and everything worked out just great. We super pleased with Nancy and the cottage!!!
This home may only have two bedrooms, but they are not small and there is plenty of room to walk around and sit in the living room, kitchen and eating area. We appreciated the night lights around the home as several times we returned home after dark without having left an inside light on. The beds are very comfortable and there is lots of closet space. Nancy is a great host remembering all the little things that make vacations easy: a couple garbage bags, condiments, TP and paper towels to get you started, even a smores kit and beach towels! The location was perfect for us as we were visiting family in the area. It was fun to see the Momma dear with her 3 fawns, rabbits, hummingbirds, and my favorite - a groundhog! He was so cute!! The kayaks and paddle boards got lots of use as well as the fribee/disc golf!
Highly recommend!!

Thank you! You were wonderful guests and I look forward to your return !!!
Peaceful, beautiful, comfortable and well-appointed lake cottage.
We found Nancy's cottage as we were looking for a place to stay while visiting family in the area. Nancy was wonderful, welcoming, and easy to communicate with before and during the stay. My elementary-school aged sons loved playing croquet and running outside in the expansive yard. The interior of the house is well appointed, the beds are comfy, the AC works beautifully to keep the house very comfortable when it is sticky and mid 80s outside, and the kitchen is well stocked! We had everything we needed to make most of our meals at home, and the washer/dryer was a huge bonus! My biggest complaint was that we had so many plans, I didn't get to spend as much time as I wished I had exploring the lake, paddling, and reading by the shore! The surrounding area was quiet and relaxing, and we saw deer, herons, fireflies, and even a fox in the field! This cottage would make a great vacation stay on its own, and I am so glad we found it for our trip. Big thanks to Nancy for being a great host.

Erin, Thank you!! It was wonderful having you. Watching your family enjoying the property brought smiles to us!! Hope to see you in the future! Nancy
The Cottage was as restful and enjoyable as a vacation can be with our family of 3 young boys (ages 4 and under). The small beach was perfect for them to play on with a shallow entrance into the lake. Our boys enjoyed the beach toys that Nancy had available, as well as a few outdoor toys up by the cottage. We all enjoyed paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming, and fishing near the beach and dock.
The Cottage has a wonderfully open feel with a large living area leading into the open-concept kitchen. Our boys had plenty of room to spread out and play. We enjoyed the s'mores kit that Nancy left for us with wood for a fire outside. With one day spent mostly indoors because of rain and several days outside, we never felt crowded in the openness of the cottage. While there is a short walk down the hill to the lake, this was not a problem for us. It even gave me a sense of security in letting my boys play in the yard while I prepared meals without the concern of the water right outside the door.

Thank you Alisia! It was wonderful having you as guests and we hope to see you back again!! Nancy and Dan
My husband and I stayed at the updated cozy cottage for a week with our almost 2 and 3 year old's while we were in town seeing family. It was such a beautiful and tranquil property! There was so much to enjoy from the fire during chilly nights (roasting marshmallows), the large grassy area to run around on, the lake and wildlife on the property. There is an outdoor cat that the kids squealed with delight over. We rented the pontoon boat for an afternoon and would have more if the weather wouldn't have been as chilly and overcast! The kids absolutely loved it and all the fun toys/games around the house and they could watch their Netflix shows on tv. Nancy was such a great host and always making sure we were taken care of and even surprised us with a goody basket! The attention to detail was like no other! She was patient and understanding with our kids getting into things as well. We made a little pallet with a playpen mattress that she already had and put a sleeping bag on top of it for my youngest to sleep on and did fine all week like that. It feels like you are out in the country but you are still close to town so it's very unique. When it was time to leave, my oldest could kept saying that she was sad and she wanted to stay! I would recommend it for any one interested in renting it out!

My family and I stayed here several nights while moving in from out of state. Nancy is very friendly and accommodating. She even called to make sure we were prepared when some severe storms blew in. We loved the cabin and have recommended it to our family when they visit. The remodel and decor is gorgeous and has a modern, spacious, calm, and relaxing lake house vibe. We loved all the extras (coffee/tea bar, comfy mattresses, fresh extra blankets & pillows, books, games, and so much more ❤️). It is truly well thought out, cozy and welcoming! Perfect for a family (kid friendly, too!) or a great weekend retreat for a small group friends.

The cottage was absolutely amazing! The decor is so cute and the space is wonderful and inviting. We loved the screened in porch, the beautiful updated kitchen and bathroom and very comfortable bedrooms. Nancy and Dan were more than accommodating and made our stay fabulous with personal touches. Nancy was always available to communicate and with any questions that came up. The space outside of the cottage is fabulous as well with always seeing deer run around and the beautiful lake front property. The most beautiful sunsets I have seen in a long time made the evenings that much more wonderful! Thank you, Nancy and Dan for a great stay for us!

About the host
Hosted by Nancy Ford
Hi, I'm Nancy, I'm a Hair Stylist/Salon Owner from the Brighton/Hartland area for over 35 years. I love what I do, but I've been wanting to acquire a rental property for a few years now and we finally have gotten that opportunity. Dan and I enjoy spending time on the property doing many projects, and most of all, enjoying the lake!
Why they chose this property
We acquired this beautiful 13 acres on Long Lake, with 300' of lake front property in September 2020. The property was originally owned by the Schaefer family (Schaefer Hwy, Dearborn MI). The main house was built in 1928 and the property has many out buildings that were used for entertaining, including a guest house (The Cottage). There's a large chicken coop for raising chickens which supplied the eggs to a tavern down in Dearborn in the 30's-40's, along with the steel plant. The property, with both houses and the outbuildings being in need of some updates and maintenance, required a lot of sweat equity. It's been a labor of love, and we're enjoying the process! We're looking forward to having you stay and enjoying this beautiful piece of property.
What makes this property unique
Sitting high upon a hill sets the stage for a beautiful view of the lake with gorgeous sunsets and sunrises. Plenty of property for a walk through the wooded trails or down to the shoreline. There is plenty of wildlife to be seen and heard (a rooster and chickens reside next door).
