We had a wonderful short stay. Property owners stayed in communication the entire time. The home had everything we needed. The fenced in yard was great for dogs. Home is beautiful. Love the older wood floors and the kitchen floor. It was very close to the aquarium which was our main reason for this trip and close to the mall which was nice. Wonderful stay and check in and out was so easy.
We had a short stay with my family that included my parents, my husband, my 17 year old son, a spoiled golden retriever and me. We booked this cute cottage like home that was pet friendly and boasted a foosball table. The house was roomy, clean, and comfortable. The host was amazing and communicating and friendly. We cooked steaks on the grill and played foosball for hours. We could allow our dog out in the fenced in back yard without worry. The fact that we could hang out just like a home away from home, allowed us to fully enjoy our family time together. Thank you for lending us this cute home to make memories in!!
The home was great for our family for the week. It was a great location and had everything we needed. The host was excellent. Would definitely stay here again!
We felt so at home! Everything was so clean and our dogs loved the big backyard! We would definitely stay here again! Your home was very charming and it is the perfect size and layout for a family!! Happy New Year!!
Clean and comfortable with all modern conveniences yet old world charm. Close to everything we wanted to explore. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again!
The listing was great, but we were so impressed when we walked into the house. It was charming, clean, and just perfect for my family. We stayed for about a month and it truly became our home away from home. The front and back yard were perfect for throwing a football with the kids and grilling burgers. The home was so full of character with charming details everywhere.
Overall, we loved the house and it was perfect for a families stay. We were so impressed with the cleanliness and charm of this property.
Lovely space! Very private and cozy and a nice retreat from being out and about. Possible ghosts.

Not for elderly
Location was great! On arrival I had to sweep away cobwebs to get to keypad. Back entrance was even less inviting and buggy. Overall inside was clean but could use paint. Both toilets were child size and not very far off the ground. Very rough on older knees. Several trip hazards BUT overall great for young family
We had a great weekend stay at Cardinal House. There were 3 adults and 3 children (ages 3, 4, and 7) and the bedroom layout was perfect for us. The location is close to restaurants, HyVee grocery store, and the Museum and Aquarium, which was the purpose of our getaway. The driveway is narrow and requires backing out into a somewhat busy street. If you're able, I would recommend backing in first. The fridge was stocked with some condiments and such, although we chose to dine out or carry out. Kitchen was well stocked as were the towels and linens. This was a great home and met all of our needs.
My wife and I and a friend stayed at this property for 3 nights along with our 2 dogs in April of 2023. This is an older home that has been renovated, so it invokes nostalgia while also delivering up-to-date features. The floor plan is relatively open, spacious, and bathed in natural light during the day. We especially liked the fenced backyard for the dogs and the fact the house was set back a good distance from the road to the front of the house. The furnishings were nice, beds were comfortable, and our host ensured it was clean and well-stocked with everything we needed. Overall, we had a pleasant stay and recommend this centrally located property if you're ever in Springfield.

Long weekend in Springfield
This 2 bedroom/2 bathroom house is spacious and located near a few local attractions. It is a older home with several modern touches. But the house smelled like mildew. Also, it was not very clean. The ceiling fans had cob webs, a mouthpiece was left on a windowsill, and the bathtub had dirt in it. Also, walking around the home in socks left our socks black with dirt.
The owners were responsive to message and friendly. They stopped by during our stay to give us a heads up about a neighborhood meeting.
Overall, ok stay for the 2 nights we were there but would not choose this location again.

Honest Review
We booked this place last minute during an emergency visit to be with family at the hospital. It suited our needs (bed, shower, dog-friendly) but there were a few things about this place that would have otherwise been dealbreakers:
1. The sheets in one of the bedrooms had clearly been soiled and not cleaned (large yellow stain near the head and dirty marks at the foot of the fitted sheet). Luckily the extra sheets in the room looked clean so we just changed them and tried not to think about it.
2. The carpet likely wasn’t vacuumed before we arrived as there was a cracker right in the middle of the floor. We don’t really care about picking up a cracker but it begs the question of how clean overall the place is.
3. The few windows you can open don’t actually open to allow fresh air to circulate inside - there are literally windows behind the windows that you can open. Also, this isn’t really a deal-breaker (but it can affect your mood), the house is dark (no light near the dining table) and the house handbook asks that you do not open the dark heavy curtains.
4. You can’t enter the fenced backyard through the house, only from the outside
5. Sink in the bathroom doesn’t get hot water within a reasonable time and the shower and kitchen sink do not drain well.
We are grateful for the last minute place to stay that accommodated our dog and our budget but if you are looking for something nice, clean and relaxing, I wouldn’t say this is it.
This house was great. It was close to everything and very nice and clean. The host was amazing as we got locked out. They were there in 10 minutes to fix us up. I would so stay again!
This property was a perfect location for us. The house has the character and charm of an older home with some of the challenges as well. It was very clean and comfortable and communication was excellent. Had everything we needed.
The home is spacious and comfortable. It is a beautiful and unique place to stay. It was better equipped than most VRBOs!!! Host was AMAZING as we had a little SNAFU while traveling -- he and his support network were very responsive and helpful. We will definitely stay again.
For the most part the description of the property was accurate. The location is convenient, but the street can be busy and the driveway is narrow to turn into with a suburban length vehicle. There are 2 bathrooms and toilets, but there is only 1 shower as the guest bathroom only has a tub. This was inconvenient for our family all having to share 1 shower. The cleanliness was decent except for the floors. The hardwood floors were especially dirty and would turn your bare feet black if walked on throughout the day without socks on. There were plenty of good quality towels and linens. The property was well stocked with necessities and the owner was easy to communicate with.
