Amazing lake weekend

My group and i had an excellent weekend here the dock is an awesome place to hang out and swim. We rented a boat for a day and greatly enjoyed exploring sml from this home base. The house was comfortable and very nice and had everything we needed!

Great time at the lake

This was a great house for a short end of summer getaway. We loved sitting on the porch and kayaking. The location is good, it is near a busy marina/restaurant so felt less secluded than other places we have stayed. We enjoyed hearing the live music across the water.

We had a great time staying here. Everything was as listed. Beautiful house and beautiful property. We enjoyed swimming and fishing off the dock. It did rain one day, but we entertained ourselves with ping pong and fuseball and cooking in the kitchen was so nice annd spacious

Week at the lake

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cove was quiet and accessible to a local marina. We enjoyed access to the kayaks. When a repair was needed to the dock, CASAGO responded within 15 minutes and made the repair.

Great Stay

The house was wonderful. The basement was even better than pictured. Only complaint was that 2 of 3 grill burners did not work (did not call it in because it was the last night, so I can't speak on their responsiveness)

Love SML

Lovely house with plenty of space-lots of different living spaces. Wonderfully equipped—everything needed in the kitchen to actually cook, nice linens, lots of toys and games in house and at the water. Very private. We had a ball!

Whisper Haven-quiet and relaxing overall

The communication with the management co. prior to our visit was a nice touch. The home was clean, spacious and well equipped. The yard, exterior stairs and dock area could use a little more upkeep. The surrounding homes and neighborhood although not able to be controlled by the owners, was somewhat disappointing. We enjoyed our stay.

Birthday Celebration

Our kids and their spouses and a grandchild joined us for a birthday celebration of a parent. Location was perfect. We spent time on the dock, swimming, fishing, kayaking and had a big day Saturday boating w a large float in tow for some crazy water adventure. Lots of room and set up allowed privacy for the toddler to sleep well. Pet friendly. You can tell the owners care .

Great house

We enjoyed the house immensely. Dock is great. Location just next to the marina is not ideal for our kids to play at the dock, as boats come in fast and make some moderate waves that made us nervous for the kids to play at the dock a lot. Would come back in a few years when our kids are a bit older and our main focus is boating, rather than dock play time. Couldn’t use the Paddleboard due to waves (and I’m not confident enough on the board).

Overall Great!

Really Great Property and very clear instructions related to checkin/checkout, living in the property. Great space, well kept, comfortable with plenty of inhouse activities in the basement such as ping pong. Only very minor negatives that didn't take away from overall experience: It would have been extra nice if the porch next to the kitchen was screened-in. We couldn't figure out to get the basement TV to work for DVD movie night which was too bad since there is a great collection of DVD's. The master bedroom mattress is surprisingly very hard which wasn't all that bad since I like mattresses to be that way, but seriously hard. It would have been nice if the bunkbed room had a ceiling fan. We had a fantastic time on the lake and the location of the dock was surprisingly not crazy busy with Drifter's and the marina nearby. We would stay here again without second thought.

Great House!!

This house was Perfect for our family of four teenagers and our dog!! The kids loved the downstairs playroom with ping pong, video games and foosball. The dock was great for swimming, kayaking and fishing! The house was well stocked. Very clean at arrival and the rental company handles the linens/ towels so nicely. The location was 10 minutes to Food Lion and not far from restaurants/ shopping- including a Marina next door. - The fast traffic and number of boats coming into the Marina/ Drifters restaurant was our only concern, especially during the holiday weekend. No fault of the owners! But I wish the “No Wake” zone extended farther. Thank you!

Right next loud bar/restaurant and marina

The house is nice, however, the house is literally right next to a marina and an obnoxiously loud bar/marina. The pictures and description do not show or mention this. Furthermore, we did find a dead mouse in the house and told the rental agency and never got a response (at least I didn’t see one). It’s great if you’re ok with the location and don’t have young kids. Also, the water was unusually harsh, even for the SML area.

Our thanks to this guest for raising a concern about the marina down the cove past this house. Apparently a boater at the marina threw a party on the docks that got far too loud. We've talked to marina management about it. On a positive note, Crystal Shores marina has an excellent restaurant for indoor and outdoor casual food called Drifters, and we encourage our guests to enjoy it. Take your boat over and tie up at their dock. We regret the mouse incident. The house sat empty for 4 days between guests, and we think to poor fellow expired on a bedroom floor during that time. The guest was kind enough to dispose of it. We appreciate that.

Nice house but issues with the water

Overall we had two issues. First is that the house is right by a local marina, which we knew coming in. Unfortunately boats don’t adhere to any “no wake zone” rules until they hit the marina buoy that’s just past the house’s dock - even though some are within 50’! This shakes the dock and certainly limits any swimming or kayaking around the dock. I don’t blame the owner for this but it certainly is something to be aware of if you plan to be on the dock or in the lake near the dock. Our biggest issue though was the water inside the house. We noticed that when running the water there is a very pungent sulphuric/rotten egg smell. It’s present when running the water from any faucet. The dishwasher had a distinct yellow residue look on the inside and there’s a similar yellow residue look around all the drains. The smell was over-powering when running the water so we had to avoid using the showers and relied on bottled water to brush our teeth with. I contacted the management company and they were responsive about this issue which was good. They said a new filter was needed and would be put in, and the owners plan to replace the d/w. It just wasn’t going to happen during our short trip. Overall the house itself was pleasant. It was clean (other than stains and the smell from the water) and well apportioned. The back deck was nice and comfortable to sit out on in the mornings and evenings. The beds were all comfortable and the basement was a nice area where our kids hung out playing Wii and ping pong when the weather was bad. Unfortunately the water issue was too much and it impacted our trip and desire to come back again. If it wasn’t for that we’d rate this much higher.

Hi, we have taken steps to solve the well water odor which this guest experienced. We refunded part of their cost for their inconvenience. After changing the filters and re-running the water softener system the odor they reported seemed to go away. Honestly, we don't know if it was due to the filter system or to a streak of smelly water which got into the aquafier from which the well draws its water. At any rate, the problem no longer exists. The wave action from passing boats is rare in that area but does happen occasionally and will affect the floating part of the dock system at this house. The rest of the dock, where the lounge chairs and sundeck are located are on fixed pilings and not affected by any waves. Thanks to the guest for a useful set of comments. Recently, we checked the water again and its fine. All's well !

Incredible, entertaining, as Pictured!!

We have stayed at SML before but never at this location and I must say we never book another location again! This home was a perfect size. The bunks offered us a variety of options to ensure everyone was comfortable. The downstairs fridge houses all the needed lake libations! The kitchen fit three ambitious cookers comfortable while the living space and table kept everyone close. Not on the description is the perfect level of sun this house recieved. My in-law loved the shady upper deck while my sister and I love backing in the sun on the lower dock. Most impressive was the sealed towels to ensure santiation and the crispy very clean linens. I appreciated this home and will recommend to anyone

Family Getaway

This house worked out great for our extended family. We enjoyed the high outdoor deck off the dining area. The kids loved the two bunkbeds and the downstairs mega game room. The only drawback for older folks or those with disabilities would be the stairs down to the dock. There were also several confusing turns along the gravel road to get there, and a steep gravel driveway. The house was clean, well-furnished, and well-provisioned. Thanks to the owners and everyone who made our stay so enjoyable! JRC
