Steinhatchee is a small fishing village in the Big Bend area of Florida known for the excellent summertime scalloping and outstanding wintertime fishing for trout, redfish, sea bass, grouper and more. Steinhatchee Landing Resort is nestled among moss-draped oaks and towering pines. The resort has been designed to look like an old Florida-style riverside village, with the 70 tin-roofed Victorian and cracker cottages that blend historic architecture with contemporary amenities for a truly unique getaway.
As a guest at Steinhatchee Landing Resort, you will have access to a 55 foot pool, exercise room, sauna and spa. Tennis and basketball courts are also a popular spot at the Landing. In addition, as a guest you will also have access to badminton/volleyball, archery, shuffle board, playground, ping pong, croquet, horseshoes, boat docks and walking trails. The wedding chapel and conference center are available for rent from the landing, along with canoes, kayaks, bikes, archery and shuffleboard equipment. There is also a small petting zoo located within the resort which is a big hit for all ages with goats, chickens, ducks and rabbits.
For the boaters and fishermen, boat dockage is available right at the Landing complete with water, electricity and fish and scallop cleaning stations.
Steinhatchee is known for its scalloping during the summer months (please make your reservations early to guarantee your spot!), as the gulf waters make an ideal habitat for these delicious shellfish. Scalloping season typically opens June 15th and ends September 1st each year. Other popular recreational opportunities in the area include bird watching, hiking, hunting, canoeing, kayaking, scuba diving, nature photography, and visiting the many state parks in the area. Boat rentals, golf cart rentals, and charters all available.

Nice location
The location is perfect. The house is perfect for large families. If you have small ones I would bring a baby gate. Plenty of beds and towels.

Great house!
This house is great - perfect layout and setup for families. Only downside is you need to clean when you check in. The cleaning crew doesn’t do a good job. Floors and mats dirty. And not enough towels. Bring your own!

Scalloping vacation
We had a great time at the house during our scalloping trip. Even though it rained a lot we were still able to utilize several of the amenities. The house was very clean, super well equipped (kitchen items, beds, etc.) and closer in proximity to the pool/playground. Our only complaints were the lack of bath towels (our family of five shared three available towels), the need for a shelf to put shampoo, etc. in the downstairs shower, and the dryer. It took three different cycles to dry our towels! We would definitely stay again though!

Location was perfect… however
The location was perfect. However the bunk room where the kids were staying did not have electricity. So we lost the use of the room after the sun set. The property manager delivered flashlights for the littlest ones in the evening. The maintenance guys showed up the next morning and we were told this was an existing issue. They replaced the lightbulbs but they blew a few hours later. The house was comfortable just disappointed at this price point that 1 of the 4 bedrooms did not have working lights.
