This was a nice property for a large family gathering. We really enjoyed the sandy beach area for kids to play. The basement arcade game was a huge hit when rainy weather came. The downstairs bathroom and bedroom could use some updating and a deep cleaning, but overall we enjoyed our stay here.
This is a beautiful property with a perfect location. Perfect for a getaway with family and friends. The house is very large and well-equipped, and the property manager was able to accomodate all our needs for the weekend. Thank you!
Cabin was a great space and plenty big enough for 6 of us! Beautiful lot, pond, deck and lake. Clean cabin and kitchen had everything we needed. Wonderful area and places to go on the lake as well. Planning to go back!
Wonderful place for a big gathering of friends and family! Plenty of spaces for small and large group chats. The lakeside firepit was a favorite of ours and the sunsets were spectacular. Lots of outdoor seating on the deck and by the fire. Observed a bald eagle feasting on his catch in one of the trees on property.
We would stay here again!

The house is very nice, plenty of room, beautiful location. Towels would be nice. Our family members that went in the water by the dock got swimmers itch. Not the owners fault but a bummer for my daughter and my two grandchildren.
I would stay again!

Thank you for your feedback on our property. We are sorry to hear that the lake had swimmer's itch. That can be such and uncomfortable nuisance. In the future, we would like to let you know that we do have towels available for rent at a nominal fee. We don't usually provide them because we have to take them off site to launder and that makes turnover time difficult. We hope you have a great rest of your year!
Had an amazing time at this house. The backyard views are incredible at all times of the day. Had a couple hiccups throughout the weekend and the hosts were on it right away to make sure we were accommodated for. Needing to grab the house key in Brainerd was a little unusual, as I'm used to electronic keypads for every rental I've been in. But wasn't to far out of the way which was nice. I would recommend this place to anybody!

Upstairs bathrooms, no shower curtain, windows upstairs hard to open and close, icemaker did not work. Outdoor furniture area not set up when we arrived, breaker switch kept tripping. Well stocked kitchen supplies and utensils, pontoon was great. Property managers were very accommodating. Had a great time would return, just needed a little TLC.

Liked: Cleanliness, location
Disliked: Check-in, communication
Property was clean and as advertised but lacked some basic amenities I am used to seeing in rental properties such as towels. The property manager did not reach out with check-in instructions, nor did they respond to any messages sent via the VRBO app the day of check-in (I sent messages starting early morning all the way to 6pm). I had also successfully communicated with them prior on the VRBO app prior to check-in. Additionally, they did not answer phone calls when trying to reach out. Luckily I rented a pontoon from the same company and had a different direct phone number I used to coordinate that and that guy did eventually get back to me. Without that, I feel like we would have been locked out the first night, or longer.Lastly, it was disappointing to get to the property and see a sauna that was locked and unavailable for us to use. While it wasn't included in the listing, the price paid for this property woild certainly warrant access to amenities like that.

Hi Brian,
I want to first apologize for the communication issue. We actually did send out information several days prior to your arrival, but unfortunately, we mis-typed your email address and didn't catch it. Our office manager had a family emergency that took her unexpectedly out of the office and kept her out of the office for the week leading up to your stay, so while she tried to keep tabs on the emails remotely, she missed the one sent to you that bounced back. Generally, we see guests reaching out several days prior if they haven't received their check in instructions so when nothing popped into our inbox from you we simply didn't realize you hadn't received them. So very sorry for that. We can understand your confusion about the towels, but we are simply not able to provide them. Laundering of bed linens has to take place on site during the clean and we don't have enough time to also launder & dry towels to accommodate 14 guests.
Again, our apologies for the communication error. I can promise you we are normally very prompt with our replies and thorough in our communication. The nature of the emergency that kept our reservations manager out of the office was significant and we feel badly that it resulted in a stressful travel day for you.
We had a nice and relaxing time while staying in this home. You cannot get tired of the view of the lake. You will love sitting on the deck drinking coffee in the morning to watching the gorgeous sunset go down over the docks after a day on the lake. Our sons also enjoyed this lake. They claim it’s now their favorite. The 27 inch walleye might have something to do with that!
They also enjoyed playing pool in the basement & running around outside.
The only recommendation is to supply Tupperware containers for leftovers. Bringing your own bath towels was also a first.
We would definitely come back!
The house was the perfect size for our large group! Plenty of sleeping room, privacy and gathering spaces! Julie was so nice to work with as we got checked in and gave us recommendations for eating, etc. Very nice option for large families!

Michelle we are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay! We hope your enjoyed the trails as well. We are here to help if you come back to stay in the area again.
This property was a great getaway for our family, ranging from age 8 – 70. It is a secluded by mature trees and ample lake front, distanced nicely from any other docks.
The docking area was large enough for us to have 2 modest sized fishing boats and a jet ski. We used Clamshell Public Boat launch. It is about 4 miles away; 10 minutes by road, and 15 minutes by water.
The beds were all comfortable (I believe they were all Serta mattresses.) The master is on the main floor with a ¾ bath and king bed. Upstairs are 3 bedrooms, each with a queen bed. One of the upstairs bedrooms has an extension, like an L shape, with 2 twin beds in it. This was a welcome surprise for parents with two kids. The bottom level has a twin over twin bunk bed in the living/entertainment room and the 5th bedroom with a queen is down the hall.
Pros:
Beautiful chain of lakes with crystal clear, clean water
Comfortable house with plenty of space for large groups
Large kitchen, making meals easy to execute
The huge deck on the back, overlooking the lake
Pool table for indoor entertainment. (The foosball table is not full sized, not very stable and put together wrong – the guys are backwards. We had a good laugh over this, and the managers may be able to fix it.)
The manager was very pleasant to work with. We provided some feedback on additional kitchenware that I am confident they will stock. (Thank goodness grandpa had a corkscrew on his utility tool!)
Cons:
There is no zero entry/wade into the lake. The sandy beach area with the bonfire pit was awesome, but the lakeshore is edged and very rocky. I recommend water shoes.
There are a lot of stairs to get from the house to the lake. This made for quite a workout hauling inflatables down and up and was tough on the elders in our group. **Send firewood in the boat when you launch.
Our check-in/checkout procedure required picking up the house key in Brainerd. This was not a huge inconvenience for us since it was on our way but could be if you’re coming from a different direction. It's also somewhat strategic since your kids will want to spend all your money during that pit-stop.
Checkout time is 9:30am

Hi Carrie,
We are so glad you had an enjoyable vacation at our Silver Peak Retreat. We are working hard to address the few suggestions you had regarding the stocking of the kitchen items (we think corkscrews are very important as well). We agree that water shoes would be a good thing for guests to bring, and will suggest it going forward so that people can be prepared. We apologize for the minor inconvenience of having to check in at our office. This is a brand new listing this year so owners feel a bit more comfortable knowing that we meet each guest personally. (We promise it isn't a strategic way to get your kids to spend your money at our Go Kart track, though that gave us a belly laugh!)
We hope we have the pleasure of having you stay with us again in the future and we appreciate the feedback.
