Neighborhood Description:
Enjoy daily walks up and down to the bayfront Malecón and visit all the local eateries, bars, galleries, and shops in the neighborhood. Evening strolls are a must to take advantage of the cool breezes that come after sunset and feel the vibrant night culture...and speaking of those sunsets, they are stunning so we highly recommend taking them in with a cold cerveza in hand from a rooftop terraza along the Malecón. La Paz is a progressive town with something for everyone. From established restaurants, bakeries, and retailers, to new cafes, bars, and craft breweries. Many of these establishments cater to people with dietary restrictions and preferences, and there are several small health food markets in the neighborhood too. With unique food offerings, crafts, and arts, our weekly markets pop up in various places downtown. We encourage you to patronize our local businesses and support the talent and creativity found in so many of them.

About the host

Host profile image
We are a family from Mexico and Scotland that live and work in La Paz as marine biologist working in Marine Wildlife Rescue and Conservation. We created Casa Beluga for our interns and visiting colleagues so that they would have a comfy, centrally located home away from home, and then we decided we'd like to share it with visitors like you as well! We hope you like the vibe and decor of Casa Beluga.

Why they chose this property

In our opinion as people who live nearby, this is the best street in town. A few blocks away from all the consolidated restaurants, bars, cafes and museums. The street literally intersects the middle of the malecón where all the biggest live events and festivities take place. The house is on the same street as the main church (Catedral, Nuestra Señora de La Paz) and kiosko, which is essentially the true heart of the town. The history and culture are incredible, and progressive, and there is a happiness and lightness in wandering the surrounding streets. It's our favorite area and it's also just quiet enough and real enough that you'll pass by neighbors and local businesses and see some of what life here is about.

What makes this property unique

There is nothing flashy, or trendy, our dare we say it 'touristy' about our home. It's a real home. Comfortable and private and tranquil. No swimming pool or hot tub, no fluffy white towels, so if you're looking for hotel like amenities we suggest you choose a hotel. We pride ourselves on keeping the home as environmentally responsible as it can be, and have selected many of the comforts with that in mind.
We offer the spacious home at a very affordable price for families and small groups, or couples.
We didn't go about this to make a vacation rental. We were creating a home for our colleagues and interns to use while working with us in La Paz. Our work is sometimes strenuous and involves long days in the sun, so just having a nice safe and cozy place for them to return to was key. A place to curl up and watch a movie, cook dinner with friends, unwind after a long day in the water, or work from home and venture out and about town from.
We hope you enjoy that about it too!
