About this property
Hood Canal Beach house, Low bank waterfront, enjoy nature from your deck
The perfect 'beach house' experience awaits you at the Madrona Cottage at Pleasant Cove. The newly remodeled 3 bedroom, 2 bath home on the shores of Hood Canal has been the treasured jewel of our family for 4 generations and we can't wait to share the magic of this idyllic spot with you: A low bank waterfront with expansive tidelands gives you easy access to clams and oysters, and of course Hood Canal's pristine waters. Also famous for the warmest waters in Puget Sound reaching 70 degrees in Pleasant Cove during mid-summer. The waters of Hood Canal are perfect for all water sports. Madrona Cottage boasts a deep wooded lot (one acre) next to the salmon-bearing Stimson creek, separating you from the hustle-and-bustle and gives you a serene connection to nature. Unlike many homes on Hood Canal The Madrona Cottage is separated from the road by a wooded buffer.
Enjoy your morning coffee from the wrap around deck of the cottage or launch one of the kayaks and explore Hood Canal. Send the Kids to the beach for beach-combing, swimming or join them in the woods to explore the stream. In the fall, experience the struggle of the salmon as they migrate from Hood Canal up Stimson Creek to spawn. Take the family on a nature walk up Elfendahl Pass Road (directly across from our driveway) as it follows the stream. The Tahuya ORV park is 6 miles away up Elfendahl Pass Road as well as a popular spot for shooting sports. There are also many hiking opportunities in the Tahuya State Forest just north of the Madrona Cottage. (https://www.hikingproject.com/directory/8019513/tahuya-state-forest)
In the evening enjoy a sunset dinner on the deck with your 180 degree view of the canal and south shore lights. Cozy up around the fire pit, making s’mores or just sipping wine under the stars.
Cottage amenities include: fully stocked, large, gourmet kitchen with brand new appliances, all the cooking utensils needed to prepare a gourmet meal, washer and dryer, Keurig coffee maker, propane barbecue, shaded deck, 2 kayaks, 1 row boat. The lawn is big enough to accommodate your lawn games. The public boat ramp is a few driveways away and we have parking for three cars (or, with one car, even your ORV or trailered boat). Perfect for families and groups up to 7 people. We look forward to hosting you!
Fall special: view the salmon returning to spawn in our creek in the month of November see reduced rates.

The house is very clean and it makes us feel like home. The owner was very nice to let our kids borrow some balls to play in the yard. It’s a family own for generations so they took good care of the property.

So glad you had a good time kayaking and enjoying the fresh shell fish. We would love to host you again.
Our family had a wonderful stay at the house and thoroughly enjoyed our week away from home. With its proximity to Seattle, Olympia, and the Olympic national park, we had easy access to explore the surroundings. The location was quiet and we had a chance to explore the beaches and partake in some yummy clams and oysters. Highly recommend the location if you're looking for a comfortable place to stay!

He kept charging me for extra people who would come visit during the day on Thanksgiving!! I didnt realize he had a max 7 , no visitors at all, which will keep me from coming back.

Jolene, our website clearly states a maximum of 7 guests. I also communicated this to you prior to your stay. I told you in advance that there would be an extra charge if there were extra guests. I am sorry you will not return as your boys had a wonderful time playing on the beach, throwing rocks into the water and building camps out of driftwood.
Our family - 2 adults, 2 young kids - had a great stay shortly before Halloween. A good amount of rain during our stay, but the rental was a cozy place to take in the storm. A spacious layout meant things didn't feel too cramped despite our mostly being indoors. Big windows out to the Sound through which to take in the rain and the wildlife - ducks, a pelican, sea otters (!?) - that came and went with the tide. Each day's lowest tide revealed oysters galore in the beach in front of the house. Also, great communicating with the host in the buildup to the trip. We'll be back again!

Wish we could control the weather and give everyone sunshine but Hood Canal is lovely even in the rain. The beach is always alive with water fowl and oysters are especially tasty in the cooler months. Hope to host your family again!
Wonderful place! Check-in was easy and everything was exactly as pictured and described. Being able to get out on the water so easily and gather our own oysters and clams for lunch/dinner was a treat. The house was tidy and well maintained. Earline and her husband were communicative and easy to work with. Definitely would stay again!

Gathering your own fresh seafood direct from the source is always fun. Look forward to hosting you again.
The house was clean and everything was available. The kitchen can have more cups but not a big deal. We enjoyed during our stay of 3 days with fresh oysters and clams to harvest and eat for dinner.

Glad you were able to enjoy the clams and oysters. There is something special about harvest to table dining. It doesn’t get any fresher!!
I wish we would have reserved an extra day. It was a nice getaway to relax and recreate. We spent as much time as we could enjoying the water and walking/biking around. We cooked all meals so it was great to have stocked kitchen and the grocery store store nearby.

We are pleased that you were able to enjoy the natural beauty of Hood Canal. It is our goal to provide all you need to make your stay pleasant.
This property was as advertised, beautiful, relaxing stay on the water, we were lucky enough to go swimming every day With nice warm weather. The hosts were very accommodating. We would definitely stay here again.
My family, including our 6 year old granddaughter, had a great time here. The house is spacious and light-filled, there is plenty of seating, the kitchen is very well equipped, making it easy to cook most of our meals at home, and the deck and yard allowed us ample space to play outside. We spent a lot of time on or near the water, an added bonus. My husband and son cycled in the area, and felt safe on the roads. Earline and Rob, our hosts, were lovely and gracious.

About the host
Hosted by Earline
This spectacular property has been in our family since 1930. It is so fun to share it with others, especially those that are not familiar with the beauty of Hood Canal. Many are unaware that the "Hood" is the only Fjord in the continental United States.
Why they chose this property
The cottage is located in a beautiful cove, boasting expansive private tidelands. This half acre property also has a salmon bearing creek running through it. The location makes for an easy day trip to the Olympic Peninsula and the Victorian town of Port Townsend. There are numerous day hikes available in the area.
What makes this property unique
The water in the cove reaches 68 degrees in the summer, which makes for wonderful swimming. The delightful creek provides a wonderful play area for the kids. The cottage is set back from the road eliminating road noise which plague many homes on Hood Canal.
In Spring it is amazing to watch the migratory birds as they stop off for a brief rest before heading farther north to Canada. The oysters are especially tasty this time of year as they have rested in the cool waters of the Fjord.
Fall is also special at the Madrona Cottage. It is amazing to watch the return of the salmon to Stimson Creek to spawn. The creek is visited by numerous waterfowl and eagles feast on the salmon as they struggle to complete their life's journey.
