We stayed 3 nights and really enjoyed this cottage! Just a block over from the entrance to Stearns Park, so it looks as an easy walk to the beach! It was nice just sitting outside the cottage and enjoying the quiet neighborhood. I emailed the owner a couple of times prior to the trip, and she responded quickly and answered all my questions. I would definitely stay here again if we find ourselves back in Ludington.
Do not rent this cottage if you are not according to the property owner “cottage people”. Who says this to people (who paid $$$ way too much for just 2 nights)??? Upon arrival for starters the parking spot is made for small vehicles( we drove a crew cab truck). Couldn’t park and open the doors to get out. We then went into the cottage and the odor (musty) was overwhelming (which the owner said cuz it was build in the 1930’s) my husband started having issues breathing and scratchy throat with in mins of being in the cottage (my throat also became irritated). He sat on the bed which was “very old” and looked at me and I just wanted to cry, we paid $$$for 2 nights for this??? I couldn’t believe this was happening and I didn’t want this to ruin his entire weekend trip that had been planned for months. We returned to our truck and called the owner who said “it was cleaned in the morning and the windows were shut because they were expecting rain and she reassured me there was no mold in the cottage, it’s just old. We then proceeded to find somewhere to stay that we know we could with peace of mind, get a good nights sleep. Tha Holiday Inn is immaculate, new, fresh sheets/clean smelling air/soft bed and was cheaper to stay at for 2 nights. I the texted the owner of the cottage to ask for at least a partial refund to help cover the cost of the hotel and she said “we should have called her (which we did) before making other arrangements that she had other options, hum the first option we paid for with her didn’t go so well so I wasn’t sure I wanted to trust any other options she had to offer and made arrangements that were acceptable. She assured me that others have stayed there and rebooked for next year, all i can say is, Wow. Beware. Pictures can be deceiving and “make sure you are cottage people “ not quite sure what that is supposed to mean???

I was contacted in the afternoon of the customers check-in with a complaint of a musty oder in the cottage.
We had just cleaned the cottage a few hours before and hadn't noticed any odor at all when we arrived or upon departure so I was confused when the complaint came in.
It was a rainy day and the windows were closed so the customer said she would turn the A/C on to see if that would help with the odor she was noticing and "I asked her to let me know".
That evening after 9pm I received an email letting me know they had relocated.
I am sure I could have resolved the issue if given the chance as the other rental I have "Jimmy's Beach House" is a completely different entity a little more like the hotel atmosphere she was looking for.
I did let the customer know that cottages are not for everyone as some prefer the quaint environment of a cottage and some prefer the hotel experience.
If I had been contacted after the initial phone call and was still unable to provide a solution to the problem then "yes" I would have provided the refund she was looking for.
I take pride in making sure customers are comfortable and happy when given the opportunity.
The owner communicated with us very quickly and answered all our questions. The cottage was very clean and had everything you need. The beds were comfortable. It had a cozy atmosphere and the area was quite and very relaxing. This cottage is right across the street from the beach and a short walk to downtown. There is ample places to walk and ride bikes in the area. We definitely would go back and stay there again.
