We were looking for a quiet place to relax for a few days and this cottage was perfect. Very comfortable, clean, and well thought out in every way. We enjoyed our stay so much and will recommend it to our friends who may be looking in the Ludington area. You can even hear the Badger horn, if you listen for it! We had fun!
I stayed at Sweetwater cottage, which was a quaint cottage with lake views that was also close to town and state parks. We loved sitting around the fire with my family in the backyard. We also went into town multiple times checked out the lighthouses, went hiking, saw the beaches and the local sites. Overall a quiet and relaxing weekend with my wife and two children.
This cottage was adorable. Nicely placed on a wooded lot & hill overlooking a Hamlin Lake. The cottage had all the amenities we needed for a long girls weekend. Nathan and Amanda were fabulous hosts and made sure felt welcome. I highly recommend Sweetwater properties to anyone looking for a fabulous stay in Ludington.
The listing is accurate. Nice place overall with good dining and living space. Location is great to get into downtown Ludington, the State Park, and Lake Hamlin. Great place to stay.
Everything about Sweetwater Cottage was perfect for our family. Check-in couldn’t be easier and the cottage was welcoming immediately. Our kiddos loved the bunk bed and the comfortable family room. We enjoyed family meals at the long table and outside. The location was perfect for hopping over to Ludington State Park and downtown to the beach and to dinner/shops. We 100% recommend and would return next weekend if we could!
We come to Ludington yearly and this is our preferred place to stay. It's just north of Ludington on Hamlin lake, but close to Lake Michigan, as well. The cabin is perfect in size for 3 or 4 people. The amenities are all there, the wifi was fine, the kitchen supplied with plates, glasses, pots, pans, and utensils, and the washer and dryer is always helpful. I especially enjoy the secluded porch overlooking Hamlin lake. We had another enjoyable visit and we will certainly be back again in the future.
Thanks for a great place to enjoy our time in Ludington. We are a family of 3, and this place had everything we needed and was just the right size for us. Thanks!
We had a wonderful time staying in this home for three nights.
It is located conveniently near downtown and Ludington State Park. It was clean and stocked with everything we needed to be comfortable. Charming and homey.
We loved our stay at The Sweetwater Cottage! Nestled up on a hill with views of Hamlin Lake! Close to the state park and downtown Ludington made for a wonderful stay! We’ll be back! Thank you!

A beautiful and comfortable cottage!
This was the perfect location for a girls weekend. The cottage has ben beautifully updated and feels very fresh and inviting. We especially appreciated that towels and linens were included in the rental. The kitchen had everything we could want. The location is nestled perfectly between downtown Ludington and the Ludington Sate Park - something for everyone! I highly recommend this property!
Should have shower bar in bathroom.
Handrail to laundry is not stable.
Backup batteries for clocks and remotes should be provided or checked between rentals
Overall the property was very nice. Thought there was more of a water view. We would stay there again.
We have visited Sweetwater twice now and have enjoyed our stays immensely. The area has a lot to offer including Lake Michigan sunbathing and wave surfing, Hamlin Lake boating and fishing, berry picking, kayaking, hiking, biking, etc.
The cottage is clean and well decorated. We love sitting on the deck in the mornings and afternoons. Although offset, we enjoy a narrow view of Hamlin Lake from that spot. We also love sitting by the campfire in the backyard.
The owners are very responsive and always so nice.
We had a few hot days during our visit, and the cottage was still comfortable even though not air conditioned. The two units in the bedrooms were sufficient at night. The kitchen is fairly functional... could use a few more pots and pans, and a portable dishwasher would surely make a huge difference.
Other than that, we really love this rental/ destination!
Quaint, Quiet and much too Quick that our Wonderful week went by at Sweetwater Cottage! Close to everything… Downtown Ludington, Beaches and Sand dunes! We had such a Good time!
We Loved the large dining table to accommodate friends for dinner that were camping near by! We are a family of 5 and felt the cottage had enough space never feeling like we were on top of one another! I so Loved the porch swing! Every morning I was a Happy :) camper, swinging and enjoying my book sipping my morning coffee in a gorgeous mug handmade by the Owner herself Amanda! The floral one was my favorite! Perfect handle and rim! The cottage (as you may have already read a few times) is decorated so nicely with their own artwork throughout the house! Beds were pretty comfortable, but I suggest to bring your own pillow for added comfort. And Finally, do be prepared to cook a few meals at the cottage in the next few months, (August through September) since a lot of the restaurants are Very low on staff. As a result, there are long wait times! So Go early to dinner, Be patient if going late or Cook in the cute blue and white kitchen! The kitchen is well stocked, however bring your own cutting board, sauté pan and cookie sheet, theirs are quite worn out!! The home is a little but rickety since it is old… the floor is not very even so be careful walking! But overall we Loved our stay at this Adorable cottage! Hope you choose this Lovely cottage too! You won’t be disappointed!
Cute and stylish cottage. We enjoyed the back yard fire pit, grill, and picnic table. The front porch was quaint and perfect for morning coffee. It has a wooded lot, quiet after 10pm, and we could even see the stars at night. A quick drive into Ludington made it a quiet getaway but still close to shops and restaurants. We booked our stay for the the Fish on for Freedom event and were very happy with the cottage.

About the host
Hosted by Nathan Grubich
We have lived in Ludington for sixteen years. We moved here from out east and have absolutely fallen in love with the area. We enjoy all that the area has to offer and prefer our feet wet any chance we get. The luxury of having both Lake Michigan and Hamlin Lake at our finger tips allows us to do just that. Depending on the season and the conditions we are able to enjoy either lake with our family. We own a small business in downtown and are just so lucky to be a small part of the evolution of Ludington. The downtown has so much to offer both locals and visitors it makes time spent in Ludington truly one of a kind.
Why they chose this property
We fell in love with our cottage because of the layout and family space. We love the large dining room for family meals or entertaining friends. The covered porch is the sweetest spot at the end of the day. Looking out at Hamlin Lake and watching boats and kayakers come and go through the south bayou is pretty sweet.
What makes this property unique
Hamlin Lake and the South Bayou area set you back in time a little. It's truly nestalgic yet close enough to downtown and all the amenities it has to offer. The drive to the State Park is beautiful and picturesque and not but 5 miles away. Whether you're playing in Hamlin or Lake Michigan it's all in the neighborhood. When you visit you'll see all there is to love. #PureLudington!
