We had an amazing experience and would 100% visit again! The houses were so clean and the views are some of the best we’ve ever experienced. The pool was incredible and there is so much space. We loved our time in Nosara!
We loved our stay at the Blue Spirit House of Stars! The views and layout were incredible and we loved seeing so much wildlife right outside our door. Claudia was awesome and attended to our every need. We would definitely rent this property again!

Overall great place but it could use some updates. Gorgeous views, pool was wonderful, so much wildlife right outside our doors (monkeys, raccoons, iguanas)Negatives -1) construction every day 7am-5pm right behind the house2) bunk bed rooms were not bug proof, many bugs and spiders and a snake came through the roof.3) needed a few minor updates all around - sink knob fell off in bathroom, screens were full of holes, missing fan in palapa
The is a lovely, very private, property with outstanding facilities. The pool is beautiful, the various rooms are spacious and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked and has everything needed for making meals on site. Communication with the agent was excellent and check in went smoothly. Prior to our stay we had thought the location was within walking distance of the beach, but we were mistaken. However, it was a quick drive to a beautiful beach and lots of services and restaurants.
We enjoyed our time at this location more every day that we stayed there. It was such a unique experience and the whole family enjoyed it immensely! The pool was used many times a day and the sleeping environments allowed for great rest to power us through very full days. We felt very safe due to the security detail that exists. It was a great adventure for us!!
Beautiful view and estate was wonderful! Some maintenance was needed on fans and light switches but overall the experience was awesome! Claudia was very sweet and quick to response when we had questions.
The property is beautiful. It looks very much like high-end bungalows (in particular the master one) spread across the estate. The kitchen is also placed on a separate bungalow. The swimming pool with the view over the ocean was a treat per se. Two things: I highly advise it for families with teenagers or kids that can sleep independently in a separate bungalow (which means they would have to cross a part of the estate). The property manager was able to accommodate a crib for us but we had to share the bed with our 5 years old as we were reluctant to get her sleep in a separate bungalow. We had a great time despite though and the owners were very accommodating.
Very secluded (what we wanted), great views, remote natural setting. Very unique set up to property. 3 buildings on various levels of the hillside. Great for different areas of family, kids, etc. There are animals and insects around....it's the jungle. Enjoy. Claudia was very easy to communicate with and very responsive.
Beautiful setting, house was as advertised. Not the fault of the owners, but families with small kids should be aware of the distances between the suites. Teens would be fine.
We loved our stay at Casa de Estrella. It’s such a beautiful house and property. You really feel nestled in the land. I had to work some, so the upper rooms provided a beautiful perch to work from. The internet was very reliable. We had a wonderful time.

Todd, thank you so much for your kind review. We look forward to hosting you again.
This home was the highlight of our stay in Costa Rica. It really is 5 stars in every way. Truly the best view of the ocean and sunsets, and the flora and fauna was divine. The monkeys and birds came right up to the edge of the infinity pool. Great outdoor grill for meals under the palapa. Privacy, beauty, and nurturing to body and soul.

Michele, thanks so much for your generous review. We loved hosting you and your family over the holidays!
The view, rooms and pool were wonderful! The monkeys came for a visit one day and the Coati wanted to see if we left any food out. We loved the out door feeling. The room that we stayed in, felt like we were in a tree house, complete with our door shower. There are steps to some of the rooms, but a couple of rooms are near the kitchen with a ramp.
If you don’t like the out doors, stay in a hotel.

Great location, and a short fix list.
We’re seasoned travelers, and have stayed in Nosara 6 times over the last 25 years. The house is located in a terrific private and secure spot.I would recommend a few things. It would help to construct a welcome letter describing the property, or have someone greet the guests upon arrival. It’s a rather confusing layout. The swimming pool needs attention. It should be shocked and cleaned thoroughly. That can be fixed easily. Lastly, the electrical system needs to be looked at. The power to the kitchen is intermittent, which is a bit disconcerting. Some of the overhead fans also need to be replaced or repaired. A little TLC and this spot is worth a visit.

My manager reported to me that the communication with Dave wasn't great. He didn't text her when he was arriving. It was the security guard who told me he had arrived. She sent all the info to him and asked him if he wanted her to go to the property. He never got back to her until the day after showing her the pool that was full of leaves. Those days were super windy and thought the pool was cleaned before his arrival it got bad throughout the day. With the winds being so strong there were may power outages, many, too the AC in the master bedroom stopped working, the fridge started having issues...it was just bad luck not lack of support from me.
Highlights:- Claudia met us upon arrival and was welcoming and thorough in onboarding us to the place.- Luxury pool!!! Amazing outdoor couches under the canopy and plenty of towels.- Ocean views- So many bathrooms and showers (some outside!)- Laundry on site was so helpful- 3 of the bedrooms had air conditioning (it was needed!)- Very private and safe- Fully stocked kitchen- 5 min drive to Garza beach, which was great for swimmingNot bad, just good to know before booking:- The two bunk bed rooms do not have air conditioning, just fans. My young teenagers didn’t mind.- The 3 buildings are great for privacy and families with older kids. It’s too spread out for little kids.- The dining room is outside (covered) and the inside living area with TV is in the master bedroom over the garage.- Lots of animals (monkeys, birds, white noses coatis, iguanas, geckos, huge grasshoppers) and bugs that come naturally because it is in the middle of nature.- WiFi worked well in the pool area and dining room but not in the bunk bed rooms.
We had a great time staying at House of Stars. We have stayed in the Nosara/Guiones area 3 times now and this was our favorite place. There are 3 separate houses that allow you to spread out and still have privacy even with a large group. Most of the rooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable. The views from the pool area are incredible and the pool is great. The kitchen is well equipped to do your own cooking.
A few things to note. The home is at the top of a very long a steep driveway. You will definitely need a car to stay here and probably a 4WD vehicle. The driveway is paved but the roads in the area are not. This was not a problem for us but just something to note. Also, being at the top of the hill is very private but you are in the jungle so expect to see wildlife daily. We had visits from a family of monkeys, coatimundis, many birds, frogs, snakes and butterflies. We loved all of the wildlife and it definitely added to the experience.
I would highly recommend and hope to return again one day.

Charles, thanks so much for your generous and detailed review. We are glad you had a wonderful time and look forward to hosting you again.
First and foremost the dining area and kitchen were infested with red ants that stung multiple of us. There were also marching ants as well. We had to eat with our feet on our chairs so as to avoid getting stung. They even climbed the walls! The stove required a lighter for each burner. The pans were in poor condition. One knife had a missing chunk of the blade. Neither fan in the master bedroom worked. This property is made of three separate buildings separated by 1-2 flights of stairs. The outdoor lights between buildings did not work. There were critters and creatures everywhere including geckos in beds, pizote under the dining table and a locust near the dining area. The two bunk rooms do not have AC. Be aware. Unfortunately our host was very dismissive and unwilling to help. Unless major changes are made I highly do NOT recommend this property.

Unfortunately, the facts raised by Wendy are not correct. The lights in the house all work, inside and out. She was not present at the time our management did the tour of the house. (A tour is offered to all guests upon arrival so they are familiar with all the details of the house) Perhaps her companions forgot the explanations of where light and fan switches are?
The ad specifically says that the house consists of three separate buildings and clearly that it is not recommended for groups with small children, however, she reserved the space anyway having three little ones.
The Master Bedroom has a large recently installed AC unit. One fan does not work in that master bedroom but we found it is not needed with AC. Yes, the Upper Treetop Suites have large fans not AC.
Ants, (are rare but they happen occur for a several hour period then they disappear) locusts, gecko, pezotes are part of the Costa Rican jungle experience. The compound is located in the middle of a lush multilevel garden .The spaces at House of Stars have been designed to maximize the enjoyment of indoor/outdoor space. The advantage of distinct and separate architectural units built around common areas is the ability to enjoy privacy while sharing common space and are best for mature families or friend groups.
Our management told Wendy when she called at 9pm on her first night. They were happy to address the ants or any other issues in the morning but the guests left leaving all the doors op
Our family of 5 shared this place with another family of 3. Location on hillside wonderful with expansive view. Infinity pool great for the hot days we had mid-April, deep enough at the far end to jump in. Blue Garza market is super close and convenient, well-stocked. The adjacent restaurant, La Malacrianza,” is one of the best in the area. Kitchen well-stocked, but no dishwasher. The house description could use more detail. There is no AC in the 2 rooms with the bunks, “Evan Quartet left and Evan Quartet right,” which is only described in the fine print under the Amenities section of the listing. I missed this detail, assuming all the bedrooms had AC after seeing a wall-unit in one of the pictures. This detail should be mentioned in the main description. With the heat and humidity (mid April), the these rooms were not used. The outdoor areas around pool are inviting and comfortable, but after the sun went down, the main common area next to the kitchen is open air and subject to no-see-um biting flies, which went away with fans. Cleanliness above average, but grounds and plants look a bit neglected.

Dear Ron, Thank you for your review and reflections. At the time of your stay, the first weeks of April 2022 we were on a required water rationing with the Blue Spirit Community. This meant we were asked to not water plants. This ban should break with the rainy season beginning mid to late April. Most of the year into late March, the grounds are well watered and quite lush! We also have a gardener who is there twice a week. Thank you for letting us know about the further clarification needed about the Evan Suites concerning air conditioning. The architect designed it for great cross-breezes coming from the ocean but if air conditioning is a must, yes you will want to use one of the other 3 bedrooms where full air conditioning is provided. Some of our guests, who do not like air conditioning, have preferred the Evan Suites as their favorite spots for their views and private outdoor decks. Finally, we have also found that the pool palapas and upstairs "star deck" are wonderful hang out spots late into the evenings in addition to the downstairs eating area. Thank you again for taking the time to review.
The pictures in the listing while accurate, don't feel the same in person. The kitchen was very small. There is no area to hang out / have dinner that is enclosed, which means you are fighting off mosquitos, spiders, wasps, beetles etc while you eat. The kitchen doors have to remain closed otherwise large animals will come in to rummage. Our AC was broken in the main bedroom for 2 nights which was very uncomfortable. 2 of the bedrooms don't have A/C at all (which was mentioned in the listing) but still the rooms became miserable for our kids. The amount of ants and other bugs that were in their room was a constant issue. If you don't mind large spiders and the possibility of snakes in your room, then I'm sure this place is no problem for you. You are in the jungle so if that is the vibe you want, you are in the right place. If not, there are other places closer to the city and restaurants that may be better fit. Or find a place that has 4 walls in the common areas to keep the bugs out.
The main bedroom is a metal roof, if it rains it will be extremely loud. We visited during rainy season and hardly slept the entire time due to the noise. Actually no one in our entire group had a good night sleep while they were here.
The view from the pool was beautiful. There is a large cell tower that is not shown in the pictures which doesn't really flow with nature.
We did get to enjoy many monkeys coming right up to the pool area which was our favorite part of the location of the house.
The area was safe.

Yes there was a problem with the AC in the master suite and staff had a mechanic there for a whole day to try and resolve it the next day we replaced it with a new unit. Things happen. We have never seen a snake in any of the buildings. The "large animals" that can get into the kitchen are pizotes - Costa Rica raccoons. Everyone has to deal with them. We gave Tiffanie the option to leave when the AC in the master suite broke. She chose to stay. She mentioned the Cell Tower in the view most people appreciate it because they are guaranteed a good cell phone connection. I she had let us know about mosquitos we would have gotten a treatment for them. Which we are now doing.
Casa Estrellas is one of the most unique properties we have ever stayed in! We were immediately drawn to the palapa and the pool deck, with its breathtaking views of the Pacific and beaches. As we explored the rest of the property and the 3 separate buildings, we felt like we were at a jungle resort. It was rainy season so the vegetation was very lush and tropical. Here were our favorite things about the property: the way the buildings were designed with indoor/outdoor living in mind, this is especially true in the main building, it is very open concept. The bedrooms and kitchen can be closed off completely, but the common area is very open. The pool and pool deck are great spots for sunsets and cocktails. The master bedroom suite has an extremely large shower that has a small opening in the ceiling where rain can come in and we got to experience a “rain shower”, which was so cool. The twin bunkbed room suites are unlike any we had ever seen and they have outdoor showers. The fact that there wasn’t any air conditioning in these rooms did not bother our 3 girls (ages 21, 21, and 14), they just kept the screen doors open and used fans. There were howler monkeys in the trees around the property who could be heard frequently and seen from time to time. We got the occasional visit from a coatimundi who I think was checking to see if we left the kitchen doors open. The property owner and property manager were very responsive, friendly, and helpful. The wifi worked well. The kitchen was well equipped. The washer/dryer worked well. Here are some things you should know about the property: It is at the top of a very steep hill in a gated community, so a car is a must. We rented a car to drive down from the airport, but once in town we rented ATV’s and drove them everywhere. As mentioned above, the design of the buildings is open and indoor/outdoor living style, so there will be bugs, but you get used to them and after the first day it really didn’t bother us anymore. The 3 buildings are separated but not too far away from each other, this did give some privacy to the adults staying in the main house and the master suite, but if it is rainy season, you’ll have to deal with the elements as you go between buildings. The location of the property is less than 5 minutes to Playa Garza and a well-stocked market and about 15 minutes to the "main" part of Guiones. Overall, we loved our stay at Casa Estrellas and the Nosara, Guiones, Garza area!

It was great having Stephen as a guest. It matters to us and our staff who is staying on the property.
We really enjoyed our stay at this amazing property. The views were endless and so gorgeous. The decks and outdoor spaces were lovely if sparsely furnished. There was regular construction noise from nextdoor. The house itself needs a lot of work. The master suite was comfortable and spacious, but the rest of the rooms left something to be desired. The kitchen is dated and the oven was difficult to operate. There were only 2 small oven pans, no sheet pans though, so very little could be cooked in the oven. There was no dishwasher and if you didn’t clean everything immediately, it was mauled by ants before you could turn around. Most windows had shutters on them that were broken or damaged and very hard to open and close. The doors were difficult to close and most rooms were pretty open to the elements; bugs, geckos and ants were everywhere. One of the lower rooms had beautiful views and a lovely shower with a view, but the other room felt very dark and confined. The upper treetop casita with two bedrooms was nice if not air conditioned, but there was something coming through the roof/ceiling, and large black chunks of something fell everywhere when it was windy. We had to sweep regularly. The pool was nice but often dirty except for the one time that the pool man came. Internet was spotty as well. So all in all, when we were outside enjoying the view or sitting under the stars, it was spectacular and special, the house itself was challenging but manageable.
