We now have Feb 2024 open and can offer it for weekly, feb 3-29.
This mid-century icon was designed by world-renowned architect William Krisel and is part of a development where all homes wrap around a shared crystal-clear pool surrounded by elegantly landscaped gardens, creating a sense of community. After a dip and tanning session by the pool, you can retire to the private patio that's perfectly equipped for hosting meals and stargazing at night by the fire pit. Inside, this home is generously sized and on a single level, so if you're looking to avoid stairs this one's for you. There's a Sonos sound system throughout and a sociable open kitchen where we see ourselves cooking and entertaining to the rhythm of our favourite tunes. There's so much to do in Palm Desert and it's all just a short drive away, although for a fun night closer to home head to El Paseo Shopping District and discover its luxury stores and great restaurant selection. Or if you’re after something a little wilder, the mountains, with their hiking and biking trails, are within walking distance too.
Modernism buffs know about the Sandpiper, and some consider it the finest mid-century townhouse complex in the Coachella Valley. Designed by architect William Krisel, whose imprint is on 40,000 homes across the American Southwest, including the beloved post & beam "Alexander Homes", the Sandpiper's 300-plus dwellings were built between 1958 and 1969.
Krisel's vision for each unit was total privacy and "tropically beautiful and beautifully work-free." The buildings are geometrically spectacular with their low-slung, flat roofs, sand-colored stucco, and concrete blocks.
Of its circular clusters centered around Hockney-worthy swimming pools and tropical landscaping, eight have historical designation, and this home is counted among them. Located in one of the original circles, the interior is spacious, and filled with soaring glass walls and light.
Outdoors – where much life takes place here, with over 300 days of sunshine every year – you'll enjoy spectacular mountain and pool views and a private courtyard with seating for eight. Cinematic lighting, a pond, and a gas-lit fire pit complete the fresh air experience. For hot days, there is a warm-weather mister.
If you're going to stay in the mecca of modernism, this townhouse in Palm Desert is a fitting piece of Krisel's legacy and a perfect place to experience the area's leisurely lifestyle.

Please keep in mind, if you are renting in the warm and summer months, and it's over 100 outside the house may never get below 75. No matter how low you set the thermostat. . This house was not built for summer living. It has no insulation, single pane floor to ceiling windows/doors, cinderblock for walls, and concrete floors......built in 1962 in the middle of the desert. The systems are 5 years old, work well, and are serviced twice a year. We ourselves have experienced a high of 123! outside, and the inside just wont get below 80! The machine will just stay on and keep pumping. In the evenings, it will eventually get lower, and get to at least 74 ish. . Please keep in mind before you book in the hot months, as this is a historic structure, and again not meant for summer living.
There is a daily fee of 5 for electric.
