The Space:
Our home on Alexandria Avenue is built for the family trip where the parents need a soak at the end of the day and the kids need somewhere to spread out. Four bedrooms sleep up to 10 guests across 8 beds, which works for two families sharing, grandparents and grandkids, or a wedding party block where everyone wants their own bed.
The primary suite has a king bed and a large whirlpool tub, which is the kind of bathroom feature that turns a long road trip into a real vacation. The other bedrooms are set up for the rest of the family with comfortable beds, room darkening shades, and extra pillows and blankets stocked.
The kitchen handles a real family meal. Full size stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave, blender, coffee maker, toaster, freezer, cookware, baking sheets, dishes and silverware, and wine glasses. The dining table seats your group, and the home has a laptop friendly workspace and desk for the parent working through the trip.
For families with little ones, we stock a crib, a high chair, and the home is family and kid friendly through and through. Children ages two to twelve and infants under two are suitable. Board games are in the cabinet for the rainy day or the evening before bedtime.
The living room has a TV, Wi-Fi, and an indoor fireplace for the cooler Panhandle months. Outside, you get outdoor seating, a BBQ grill, a garden and backyard, and a private entrance. The garage is in back of the home with parking for two cars plus the driveway, which is rare in this part of Amarillo.
Bed linens, towels, the family travel basics, and a safe for valuables are all included. We love hosting families on Alexandria, and we have set the home up to make your stay smooth from arrival to check out.
Guest Access:
You have the entire 4 bedroom home, the garage, the outdoor patio, the grill, and the backyard. Private entrance, no shared spaces with anyone else.
The Neighborhood:
Alexandria Avenue is a calm Amarillo residential pocket with mature trees and the kind of family friendly feel that makes evening walks pleasant. You are well positioned for the drive south to Palo Duro Canyon State Park, the classic family day in this area, and West Texas A&M in Canyon is close for a campus visit. Westgate Mall is easy for shopping, and downtown Amarillo and the Civic Center are a short run. The Big Texan Steak Ranch, the Don Harrington Discovery Center, and the Amarillo Botanical Gardens are good day trip picks, and Wonderland Park is a kid favorite when you have little ones along.
Getting Around:
Amarillo is a driving town. This home has a two car garage in the back of the home plus a driveway, which gives the group room for multiple vehicles. Highway access is easy from this side of town. Rental cars and rideshare both work from Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport. Plan for a vehicle.
Other Things to Note:
This is a non smoking home, no parties, no events. The home is equipped with smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, fireplace guards, a first aid kit, room darkening shades, and a safe for valuables. The indoor fireplace is functional for cooler months. Family and kid friendly through and through.
