We were looking for a private, secluded and comfortable home with views of the mountains and this place was perfect. The house was very clean and well stocked with everything that we needed for a great week in Colorado and Kathy went out of her way to make us feel welcome. Will be back for sure.

Thank you, Chris, for the great review! You were probably the BEST renters I've ever had - other owners, take note - these folks were so clean, respectful and followed all of the house rules to a tee.
Come back anytime at all!!
Happy travels.

The owner was a great host and her home was beautiful! Everyone enjoyed their stay at this well kept, clean, spacious Colorado cabin. This was the perfect place to celebrate my retirement, enjoy time with family, and take in the scenery around Pagosa Springs.

Thanks so much, Gary - you folks were the BEST!!! Please come again any time at all - you're always welcome.
Happy travels,

While this house can't control the weather it did set up the perfect get away for our family on Christmas. The house is great with a well equipped kitchen and entertainment even though we normally just caught ourselves staring out the windows at the fantastic views. The beds were all incredibly comfortable. Would stay again.
We have stayed in many VRBO’s and this is by far the best. This house is great for families that need space. The beds are super comfortable, the kitchen is stocked with necessities and the views are unbelievable. It’s a short drive to town and remote enough that you feel like you have gotten away from the hustle and bustle of city life. You will not regret choosing to stay here.
This property is absolutely stunning! Definitely a 5 The house is beautiful and the views are breathtaking!! It was perfect for our family! Everyone had their own space and that was so nice! The porches were amazing! This is where we enjoyed our morning coffee taking in the clean air and gorgeous views. The kitchen was a dream and well stocked! The hot tub was perfect and relaxing! The homeowners were available by text or email if we needed anything! We had a fantastic week and will definitely book in the future! 100% recommend this property, you will not be disappointed!

Thank you so much Shari, for the great review and for taking such good care of my place - please come back again!!
We spent a week at this cabin for spring break and absolutely loved it. It was very quiet and secluded but an easy, scenic 10-15 drive to town. Both our kids are teenagers and there was plenty to do in the cabin to keep them off their phones especially looking at and talking about all the magnificent stars in the sky. We went skiing 3 days at Wolf Creek and snowmobiling 1 day, all easy access from the cabin. We brought our two dogs and they had a blast too. Host Kathy was awesome, always quick to respond and helpful with ideas on things to do. We can't wait to come back!
The house is beautiful and exactly as described. Even though there are other homes in the area, it secluded, you cannot see the other homes and it is very quiet. We spent most of our time outside on the deck enjoying the beautiful views. Beds were very comfortable and the layout was perfect for friends traveling together providing privacy with the multiple levels. The host, Kathy, is great, very friendly! We've stayed at many VRBO's in various places but this one is the best we have experienced. Definitely recommend this property to everyone!

Thank you so much, Adele, for the lovely review! And for taking such great care of my place - hope you'll come see us again!!
My family stayed at this property for five days (summer 2024). The host was amazing about communicating and was extremely helpful. The cabin itself is very spacious, clean, and well stocked. The views and surrounding nature are beautiful. Within hour and a half drives, we were able to visit: Durango, Lake Night Horse, Lake Haviland, and Mesa Verde National Park (closer to 2 1/2 hours to get to the locations within the park.) A short drive from the cabin we’ll get you to Pagosa Springs and Treasure Falls (a short hike that is definitely worth the views). My family enjoyed playing pool and hanging out in the hot tub while star gazing. Overall, a great experience.

Thank you so much Dallas. It was such a pleasant surprise to walk in and see how CLEAN you left the cabin - everything single thing in order - you were the best! Please come back any time - would love to have you visit again.
The cameras with audio are just outside the front and the rear of the cabin. The afternoons were warm (in the upper 80's ) so we had the doors and windows open and its was uncomfortable to know you are being watched and listened to. Full disclosure you are in for more rules when you arrive. Request to limited your showers to 5 minutes. I see the need for rules but please list them upfront.

Thanks for taking the time to review, Laurens. Please know that once you have arrived, the cameras are turned off - so you are never being watched or listened to. The multiple motions which set the cameras off are not feasible to keep them running all the time when folks are there. They are for security when no one is in residence, and are used only to identify when folks actually check in. Wished you had asked me about them so I could alleviate your fears.
When the days are warm, the instructions do say to open the windows up AT NIGHT, and close up the house around 9am - the logs keep the house cool then. We were here for most of August and it never got higher than 73 inside.
I surely hope you'll give us another try!!
Thanks for your booking!! Kathy
The home was very accommodating for the whole family. The views from the deck were a favorite! The unfortunate heat wave did make the house quite hot and fans couldn't cool things down much so sadly fans running day and night made things noisy. Some restrictions (smoking in car, 5 min showers) did bother some family members. Hauling trash out should not be the responsibility of the renters in my opinion. Sorry to say that too many restrictions, cameras, instructions for everything, although understandable, didn't allow the relaxation I was looking for. I wouldn't return but it is still a beautiful place that other might truly enjoy.

I’m so sorry to hear this, Nancy. This summer’s heat has been the worst any of us can remember. We arrived here ourselves on the day of your departure and it has never gone over 75 inside the cabin (currently 66 as I write this, this morning) but the outside temps have dropped into the 80s. That is the summer norm here, 80s and low 90s at worst.
I’m not a fan of many of the restrictions too, but after having a renter literally set one of the balconies on fire last summer from smoking a cigarette, it was necessary for not only me, other travelers, but also my neighbors’ protection as well.
I do hope you’ll reconsider a return, perhaps earlier or later in the summer and if you do return, I’ll offer you a discounted rate for sure. Fall is an absolutely glorious time to be here. Thanks for taking such good care of my cabin!
If you are looking for the perfect get away this is it!! One of the best VRBO's we have ever stayed at. I would rate it 6 stars if possible. The spacious cabin is tucked away in the woods away in the woods with a wonderful view of the mountains from every room. Tastefully decorated with everything you may want or need at your fingertips. The floor plan is terrific with two bedrooms and living space on the ground level that leads out to a large patio with an outdoor fire place and hot tub just steps away. The upper level has a master with a king bed and on-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower and giant copper soaking tub. The kitchen is super functional and fully stocked with everything you need and then some. The loft area has two additional beds and a full bathroom. The deck off the upper floor overlooks the property and has a great view. Kathy is a pleasure to work with. This would be the perfect rental for anyone small to large group looking to get away from it all and just relax and enjoy the sounds of nature.

This property was beautiful & perfect for our family. Well stocked kitchen, designer furnishing, outstanding views, plenty for your family/friends. Featuring a great hot tub & outdoor living area with Mountain View’s. Planning our next trip to this great home!
We had a great time from reservation to check out! The house was immaculate, included everything you could hope for, and the views were amazing. From watching the sunrise in the hot tub to the lightening storm from the deck in the evening and then the rainbow afterward- everything was great. We had an amazing time and would love to visit again!
Our stay was nothing short of amazing. Kathy was on the spot with any questions we had! The cabin was in the best spot, secluded and extremely quiet. Extremely clean and well equipped! O have recommended the property to e erybody I know and we will most certainly be back!! I would give it more stats but it limits me to 5! Great job!

About the host
Hosted by Kathy McCarty
I am a native Arizonan, who loves to travel. In my 60s, I'm the kind of guest (and owner) you want! Clean, respectful and a property owner who rents out as well, so I understand your position exactly. I enjoy *good* food, historical destinations, art, music, theater, and more. Finally retired after working for the US Army for over 35 years. I have had vacation rentals in my home town of Sierra Vista, AZ for over 20 years - and now own one in Colorado that I can enjoy as well!!
Why they chose this property
This is my DREAM mountain home - and I love sharing this experience with others. I wanted something close to *good* skiing - the skiing in Arizona is a bit limited. We fell in love with Pagosa after spending time at Wolf Creek ski and seeing the stunning surroundings of the area. The lakes, rivers, and most of all the beautiful mountains surrounding this property all make for a perfect vacation destination!
