We liked the location, close to AFB, Reid Park, The Zoo, Golf courses, Botanical Gardens and restaurants, we felt safe. The ground is covered in cigarette butts and bits of trash. Trash, recycle bins were full. The house was filthy. The kitchen had grease on the stove and the upper cabinets and it was disgusting. The pots and pans looked burned, horrible and no one ever washed them. The oven was covered in aluminum foil that still had burnt food scraps on it, on every shelf, we didn't use the oven. There was old food left and sparse amount of dishes and utensils. So we bought our own pans and teapot to use. The appliances were covered in a layer of grease as well. There weren't any garbage bags, we bought our own. They did have paper towels, toilet paper and a couple of bath towels. Bathrooms were clean. The living room had a nice TV and coffee table, had a futon couch and a folding patio chair with a ripped seat, that was all the seating. The couch cover was stained and spotted, so we removed it and the couch was just as disgusting. We took the bedspread from one bedroom and covered the couch with it. Since we prepaid for the home, we were stuck staying there. The 3 large BRs didn't have dressers. One BR had a strange brown stain on the wall and on the carpets, we didn't use that room. Another room had a strange hard spot on the carpet, had to use the bathroom rug to cover that up. The home needs a deep, deep cleaning from top to bottom and updated pictures on VRBO.
Traveled to Tucson for work and spent 5 weeks in the house. The house has been recently updated and had everything we needed. The check in and out process was super simple and the host was very accommodating to our changes. The neighborhood was relatively quiet with light traffic. Getting anywhere in town was an easy drive. Zero complaints. Definitely recommended.
The location is one of the best I’ve stayed in in Tuscon. It’s right near Reid Park and the zoo, and there’s shopping near by. Just about everything we wanted to do Tuscon is a 20-25 minute drive. The house itself is in immaculate condition. The owner has clearly put a lot of work into the renovation. 10/10 will stay again!
Walking distance to the zoo.
The home is nicely renovated, gorgeous from the inside, with Comfortable beds and plenty of space, and a big backyard.
Issues- The master bedroom has sewage issues, In the kitchen, the water filter on the sink started to leak, getting counters and floor wet (Andy said he would get that fixed). There are extension cords everywhere (not safe for toddlers but an easy fix).
Neighborhood- Seems quiet but not the greatest! There was a domestic disturbance in the afternoon and then later that night there was a shooting across the street. The officer came to look at the cameras and mentioned that there had been other problems the week before. In the morning we spoke to some of the neighbors that stopped by and they mentioned that the neighborhood was pretty bad.
Communication- Andy was very responsive.
The living room and one of the rooms had no privacy curtains. I messaged Andy and told him that I did not like that people could see what was going on inside of the home and he dropped off curtains that same night. He was ALWAYS in the backyard and scared me the first night because he arrived back at the property at 3/4 am the same day we started renting
Positives: New, clean, good beds, excellent proximity to zoo, park, grocery store and coffee shop. Well equipped kitchen. Good w/d.
Negatives: although it is advertised for 8 people (there were 5 of us)and there are plenty of beds, there are not enough places for people to sit. There is 1 three person couch in the living room and four chairs at the dining room table. There were only four plates, limited silverware, cups and towels. It would have been perfect with a couple more chairs.
Newly remodeled house: it was very well set up for renting. Two patio areas for enjoying the warm evenings. Great location for walking to the zoo and park; we did both. Neighborhood was pleasant and quiet. We came for the air show and this was a convenient location. Andy was very responsive and a great host.
