Isenthal, 800m above sea level, an idyllic mountain village, in the heart of Switzerland, a richly wooded high valley above Lake Lucerne. A wreath of high mountains surround the pretty village, which has a pleasant peace and tranquility. Isenthal is a popular starting point for numerous hikes across alpine meadows to the mountains, or through the valley over the old land route to the Lake of Uri where you meet the well-known route of Switzerland, from various stations you take the post bus back to the valley. Small easy hikes like the Isenthaler-Bärenweg or the circular walk on the sun terrace Gitschenen are also entertaining for children. Even the experienced mountaineer will find numerous mountain tours. For swimming invites the Une Lake with the clean free bathing in Isleten and Seedorf, and the indoor pool in Altdorf.

Absolutely stunning views from this quaint chalet

We stayed at this darling chalet in Isenthal for 3 nights. The views all around this place are breathtaking. Tucked in a beautiful valley in the Swiss Alps with the sound of rushing water makes it feel surreal. The house was cozy and SO clean. Marie had fresh baked bread there for our party of 9 and was waiting upon our arrival to show us every detail of the home. This house is just a few miles from Isenthal. It can be a bit tricky to find so arrive before dark. Go through town past the church and the hotel, continue on for a couple of miles until you see a wooden bridge over the stream on your left - there is a mailbox there. You cannot see the house from the road. Cross the bridge and go up the driveway to the house. Thank for an amazing stay!

ONCE IN A LIFETIME STAY!My family of 11 and I booked this stay for 3 nights and wow, what an incredible experience it was! It was a perfect fit for us, with the house being split with an upstairs floor and downstairs floor that you must walk outside to access each. They both have their own kitchen, bathroom, and living area apart from the beds. The stay is very steep, so just a note if you’re travelling with elderly (like I did) - there is a lot of walking and stairs, but all incredibly worth the trip.It’s hard to see from the road, but it is a right turn as soon as you see a wooden bridge and bench that reads the name of the stay in German! It’s a beautiful scenic drive only 1.5hrs from the airport (with tolls). We recommend driving here, though there is transit that reaches the village. But note the road to the destination from the main road is about a 15 min ride up a steep mountain side that is tight. Make sure to note the bus times, as the bus going up and down the mountain will take up the whole road.Upon arrival, our host greeted us with fresh bread and was super communicative, although english is very limited. They were so kind, always available for any questions at any time and had great recommendations for hiking and getting there!Book during the fall so you can see the stunning colours of the leaves and the trees.The house was immaculately clean and tidy. We are so grateful to book and absolutely recommend this stay!

Besten Dank für Ihre Bewertung, schön dass Sie sich so wohl gefühlt haben. Ja, die Strasse ist über 3km mit dem grossen Postbus nicht geeignet zum kreuzen, doch die Busszeiten sind jeweils unten und auch oben angezeigt, wenn der Bus unterwegs ist.

Wunderschöner Urlaub

Wir können das Ferienhaus und die Familie Besmer als Gastgeber aus vollem Herzen empfehlen. Das Haus ist sehr schön gelegen und mit viel Herzblut eingerichtet. Bei uns sind keine Wünsche offengeblieben. Insbesondere der Außenbereich mit der Sitzgelegenheit am Bach ist außergewöhnlich. Wir werden sicher irgendwann wiederkommen.

Passamos uma semana espetacular nesta vivenda em St. Jacob. Para além da beleza do lugar, do ambiente sossegado e acolhedor, destacamos a simpatia e profissionalismo dos anfitriões. Beautiful Location

The house is located in a beautiful valley outside Isenthal. The road getting up there and through the village is very small and if you are in a van, it's a tight fit. Pay attention to the sign at the bottom - It has the timings for the bus. You will not be able to fit around the bus and will be stuck. The house is two separate apartments that connect via outdoor stairs and both are pretty spacious. The creek at the bottom of the hill was great fun for the kids. You could easily spend a week in the valley hiking aeound and never be bored. The owners were very nice and helpful. I would stay there again even though it is a bit of a trip getting down the mountain and actually accessing the highway. It's adds a bit of time to any day trips you want to do, but it is absolutely beautiful up there.

Lage traumhaft, Haus praktisch, schön und sehr sauber

Wir hatten eine wunderschöne Woche in Schweigmatt. Die beiden Wohnungen des Hauses sind sehr praktisch eingerichtet. Alles ist gut durchdacht, sehr sauber und es fehlt an gar nix. Das Haus liegt traumhaft. Für alle Urlauber, die keinen Trubel wollen und die Natur genießen möchten, nur zu empfehlen. Die Kinder können draußen spielen. Es gibt keinen Verkehr am Haus und der Bach bietet sehr viel Abenteuer. Die Vermieter sind äußerst nett und hilfsbereit. Wir werden bestimmt wieder kommen.

Erholsame Ferien in Isenthal

Dei beiden Wohnungen sind sehr praktisch eingerichtet, selbst in den Küchen haben wir nichts vermisst. Liebevoll und mit zahlreichen überraschenden Details ausgestattet, lässt sich hier gut verweilen. Die Umgebung ist prächtig, und zeigt sich im Herbst in den schönsten Farben. Es gibt viele Wandermöglichkeiten und kleine Gondelbahnen, welche uns an die Startpunkte der Wanderrouten brachten. Einen Tag haben wir mit den Wanderziegen (Honigberg.ch) verbracht, was auch unsere Kinder sehr begeistert (und zum Wandern motiviert) hat!

wir waren mit mehreren Kleinkindern und haben es sehr genossen - insbesondere der Platz unten am Bach ist ausserordentlich schön!

Erholung pur in idyllischer Lage - TOP Entspannung

Das Ferienhaus erreicht man nach einer abenteuerlichen Anfahrt über eine enge Straße mit extrem schönen Ausblick auf den Vierwaldstättersee (Urnersee). Die Straße ist täglich zu bestimmten Zeiten für ein paar Minuten gesperrt, damit der Postbus fahren kann, da die Straße zu eng für Gegenverkehr wäre. Das Ferienhaus liegt außerh. des Dorfkerns und es ist eine weitere Strecke um zu Fuss ins Dorf zu laufen, allerdings ist der Weg sehr idyllisch am Flussufer entlang. Es gibt auch direkt an der Auffahrt zum Ferienhaus eine Bushaltestelle, somit könnte man auch einfach mit dem Bus fahren und sein Auto stehen lassen. Das Ferienhaus liegt in Alleinlage an einem Hang, unterhalb des Waldes und hat einen eigenen, wunderschön gestalteten Bereich am Flussufer, der mit Hängematten und Relaxliegen zum Entspannen und Abschalten für die "Großen" und abenteuerlichem Spielen für die "Kleinen" einlädt. Als direkten Nachbarn gibt es einen alten "Schopf" der ein paar Schafen als Nachtquartier dient. Der "Schaflandwirt" fährt immer mal wieder zum Schopf hoch (mit Traktor oder Muli) ansonsten ist es einfach nur ruhig und außer dem Fluss hört man nur noch die schöne Natur. Man hat eine tolle Aussicht auf die Berge. Über das Handy meines Mannes hatten wir auch eine Internetverbindung sehr langsam aber immerhin möglich. Das Haus hat viele Terrassen die mit tollen Möbeln ausgestattet sind. Es gibt mehrere Grillmöglichkeiten, eine davon am Flussufer. Die beiden Wohnungen sind sehr gemütlich und liebevoll eingerichtet. Sehr sauber und extrem gut ausgestattet. Es gibt sogar ein Fondue oder Raclette Gerät!!!. Die untere Wohnung hat einen DVD Spieler, was unseren Kindern bei schlechtem Wetter sehr gut gefallen hat. Es gibt Spielsachen in jeder Wohnung. In der EG Wohnung gibt es viele Absätze/Schwellen was ggf. bei älteren Leuten wichtig zu wissen ist. Meine 82 jährige Nachbarin konnte diese Absätze allerdings gut bewältigen. Die Wohnung im EG hat ein schönes großes Bad mit Badewanne. Die Wohnung im OG hat eine tolle Aufteilung der Zimmer. Es kann eine Person auf der Ebene mit Küche, WC, Dusche und Wohnzimmer schlafen. Über eine steile "Leitertreppe" kommt man nach oben und findet dort 2 wunderschöne Schlafzimmer. Treppengitter für Kinder vorhanden. Fenster mit Kindersicherung gesichert. Ich bin 175 groß und hatte im Stehen in der Dusche noch 5 cm bis Decke, Sitzmöglichkeit in der Dusche vorhanden. TOP Ferienhaus in wunderschöner Lage - sehr zu empfehlen. - DANKE -

Herzlichen Dank für Ihre Bemühung zu unserem Haus zu schreiben, es freut uns sehr, immer wieder neue oder vermehrt wiederkommende Gäste in unserem Haus zu begrüssen. ganz besonder freut es uns, unsere Gäste bei der Abreise so richtig zufrieden und erholt zu verabschieden. Zu Ihrer ausführlichen Bewertung möchte ich einige Richtigstellungen anbringen - Die kurvenreiche Strasse Isleten-Isenthal (4km) hat die Empfehlung den Postbus abzuwarten, gesperrt ist die Strasse für grosse Fahrzeuge, die Zeiten sind beidseitig angeschrieben und wir empfehlen unseren Gästen auch die Zeiten zu beachten. - Das Dorf Isenthal mit 2 Gasthäusern und Einkaufsmöglichkeit ist 3,5 km von unserem Haus. - Die Schaf - Unterkunft wird nur im Frühling bis ca Ende Mai und im Herbst ab Oktober benutzt, daher können wir keine Bauernhof-Ferien anbieten. Zum Haus: unsere Wohnungen sind in einem älteren, jedoch renovierten Haus, daher gibt es in der Wohnung EG Türschwellen (5cm). Die beiden Wohnungen haben separaten Wohnungseingang von aussen und auch separate Sitzplätze. Wir wissen der Duschkabine der Wohnung OG ist niedrig, daher gibt es die stabile Sitzmöglichkeit, zu den oberen beiden Schlafräumen im Dachstock führt eine Raumspar- treppe(keine Leiter). Wir freuen uns schon heute Sie und Ihre Kinder wieder bei uns zu begrüssen.
