This place is beautiful! Was perfect for me and my friends’ ski weekend. Was super cozy, location was great, and it took care of all our needs. The host was amazing and gave us everything we needed (and replies fast!)- the itinerary she provided was so nice! We really enjoyed one of the recommended places, Woodbridge farm brewery- super cute and yummy and someone even pulled us aside asking how we heard about it since it’s so low key! Overall, we had a great time and would definitely recommend staying here.
We had such a wonderful stay here. The farmhouse is adorable and has everything you could need. The beds were so comfortable. The home is right in the middle of wine country so it's in a great location. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch. Also you have to try WildManDan which is a one minute walk down the road.
The Farmhouse was spacious and comfortable. The beds were perfect - always a plus after a long day of traveling or sightseeing! The kitchen offered all we needed. We loved that 3 of us could be working in there at the same time and each have the space we needed. The owner was incredibly attentive to a couple of issues that arose. Overall, a good place to stay.
This house is in a beautiful area, and Ashley (the owner) was an absolute delight. She was very helpful right through. We arrived very late at night, and were grateful to see the clean beds and linen.
The house was really cozy with lots of space inside and outside to enjoy. We enjoyed playing games, sitting by the fire inside and outside, and visiting the local wineries and breweries. Ashley was an excellent host and quick to respond with any questions.
We had a wonderful stay at the Farmhouse. It was very quaint, quiet, and cozy, and the location was perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed the fire pit outside and the views were beautiful. Host (Ashley) was extremely attentive and was quick to respond to any questions/issues we had. A very relaxing family trip with lots of fun memories.
The house was wonderful. Ashley was great and checked-in making sure we had everything we needed. Fantastic end of summer weekend, will look to come back next year!
Afton Farmhouse was the perfect place for our quick trip! Just minutes from plenty of breweries, wineries, and eats! The house was clean and very welcoming! I would absolutely stay here again! If I were to stay again, I would bring cookware with me! The cookware in the house is all stainless steel. I never have good luck with stainless steel pans, personally! There was a waffle maker and griddle, which was nice!
It truly is a quaint farmhouse. Very comfortable and kitchen is well stocked. The space worked well for us.
We did have an issue, and the property owner responded within minutes, was responsive and followed up.
This an exceptional property with a great host! This 120 year old farmhouse was renovated but retains its original charm. My family stayed at the property to celebrate Christmas with my mother who lives in Waynesboro. In prior years, we have rented suites at the Residence Inn. The farmhouse was a huge upgrade. We are very glad to have found this property. Thank you!
Super clean. Incredibly well stocked kitchen and pantry. Lots of food staples in the house. It sounds silly to add that the kitchen knives where sharp. But this is so rare to find in a rental and speaks to attention to detail. Easy to contact and responsive host.
We chose the Afton Farmhouse for our annual family vacation and are very glad we did. The location was close to so many things to see and do and we indeed saw and did a lot of things. We went to the Blue Mountain Brewery for dinner. This place not only has great food and great options but also a wonderful play area for the kids. It’s not a playground but rather an artificial turf area with cornhole and space for the kids to run, jump, and roll. We went to a unique landscape nursery call Edible Landscape where they have just about any edible plant you could want including kiwi and pomegranate along with a lot of native plants. It’s also so close to the entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway. But a lot of our time was spent at the farmhouse itself - cooking, playing games outside in the large front yard, playing board games on the table in the sunny breakfast nook, or just relaxing in the rockers on the front porch. An added perk was the active sparrow’s nest under the porch roof.
The farmhouse was great - everything we needed and close to several wineries we wanted to try as well as the Blue Ridge Parkway where we enjoyed some lovely hiking.
Charming farmhouse with all the comforts you need & conveniently located by wineries, breweries, Waynesboro & Charlottesville. Beautiful rural neighborhood.

Wonderful host
Really great experience with the host - she is wonderful! The photos make the house look a bit more updated than it is, and there is no scenic view off the porch, I was really looking forward to that in the morning (why I spent the amount that I did after all the added fees for the rental) but the surrounding houses make it not feel as great to walking by yourself as a single female. Rooms were good size, my bed was ok but creaky, and the house was pretty cold even with the space heaters. For a one night stay to get my son and his friends skiing for a 16th birthday celebration it was fine. Again, the host was amazing - responsive and kind:) the fireplace did make the family room warm:) Turn it on when you get there if it is a cold night!

Thank you so much for this feedback! She's an old farmhouse for sure, which I hope we've communicated in the listing, but I appreciate that everyone has a different comfort level with cozy old houses.
- I’ll check out the squeaky bed and make sure that gets addressed.
- We’ve had a very cold and snowy January and like many old houses, you may need to crank up the heat on the coldest of nights. There are also blankets in the trunks in each room, which I will add to our house information.
- The kitchen and laundry appliances have been updated since the photos were taken.
- This is a very safe area. Rural Virginia doesn’t always look perfect (especially in winter) but our neighbors are kind people.
- There are mountain views from inside and outside the house.
- We price the house on the low end of the range with an average cleaning cost and just the standard fees coming from VRBO.
It’s important to us that guests enjoy their time at the farmhouse, so this feedback is helpful- thanks again.
Best,
Ashley
We highly recommend staying at the Afton Farmhouse! Perfect getaway for our family with six adults and one two year old. Lots of space to relax, and extra bonus of having doors between the living room and stairwell; excellent for traveling with light-sleeping little ones and keeping downstairs noise to a minimum! Ashley was prompt and helpful in all communication, and we are grateful to her as our host. The home is just beautiful, the fireplace a dream, and the location is supreme! Can’t wait to come back!
