Summary: A stay at Bowerbird Beach Camp is essentially a trip back in time so please enjoy the view, the water and the occasional drip of a leaky faucet. Our “no-frills” vibe is part of our charm. Step away from the hustle of your busy life and immerse yourself in the truly nostalgic experience of camp life. What you will find here is an immediate feeling that you are somewhere that matters; somewhere you'll visit in your memories and relive through shared telling of stories over the years to come.
The Space: Perched up on the little hill overlooking the bay is where you'll find this 870 sq ft cabin which is the largest in the camp. You have your own screened in porch to enjoy the evening breeze with considerably less bugs than outside. Once inside you will be greeted by the charm of furniture from your parents' generation. This cabin has recently had a TV added for watching a movie on those rainy days, but we still prefer watching cuddling up with a cup of coffee and watching the storm pass. The kitchen has all the necessary amenities like a fridge, freezer, stove, french press, kettle, toaster and basic cookware. There's both a charcoal grill and a propane BBQ for your use.
No dishwasher and certainly no valet parking service. You'll be close to your neighbours, whether they be the people in the next cabin over or the many critters, fish, birds and squirrels that have been here long before you have. We’ve left the inside of the cabin relatively untouched with flooring and finishes from a bygone era. A stay at Bowerbird Beach Camp is essentially a trip back in time so please enjoy the view, the water and the occasional drip of a leaky faucet. Our “no-frills” vibe is part of our charm, but it’s not for everyone.
The key to a happy stay is mitigated expectations. What we mean by that is this is a back to basics, no frills, old-school, cabin-living experience. You might have to share the footpath with frogs, kick away goose poop on the beach or squish a harmless spider or two in the rafters. The local animals like squirrels, bears, mice and flies have no boundaries. Food left out is fair game so please don’t leave food outside or out on your kitchen counters.
If you require lots of hand holding, directions on how to turn on a faucet or how to use a charcoal grill, then this just might not be the best fit for you. We have other cabins on Airbnb that feature TV’s, dishwashers, quartz counters and front doors that fully seal when you pull them shut. Feel free to book a cabin there if that’s more your vibe (you know who you are- no judgment ;-).
What we know for sure is once you’ve witnessed your first sunset while floating in the water, you’ll forget about the quirks of the cabin and will turn your focus to the distant call of the loons or catching the fireflies after dusk. The worries of your world will fall away and time will have a different meaning. You will suddenly be aware that you are living what you will come to remember as the “good old days”. This is the summer holiday where you’ll actually sit down and see each other and that your kids will beg you to relive every year.

This place works good for a fishing trip as they have a nice property including a clean well maintained fish cleaning house. Listing is accurate and host is very helpful and responsive. The house is comparable to what is found in the Sioux narrows area and has a nice cabin feel. Resort is quiet and had no issues with any cabins being loud or disruptive. Appliance and interior features for the most part are older but still in good shape and resort, cabin was very clean! New decks and grills were present and both a gas and charcoal grill were available. Great location a close to town. No issues while we stayed there. Would recommend anyone who is looking to stay for a fishing trip to stay here.
