The Silo is a very unique experience, and we invite you to experience it! The Silo is exactly that – a guest room built inside a grain bin. It has all the traditional furnishings of a hotel room – a great bed, table with chairs, refrigerator, and microwave – but it does not have television, running water, or an indoor bathroom. It does have electricity, wi-fi, propane heat, and dishes and silverware. It also has a shaded outdoor kitchenette with a cook stove and an outdoor restroom facility (a toilet and solar shower built in a large culvert). Best of all, The Silo has spectacular views.
We provide basic kitchen supplies, a picnic table, cook stove, fresh water, bedding, linens, coffee, and board games, but the environment provides the best experience. If you are lucky, you’ll get to listen to the rain on the tin roof or the coyotes singing on the hills. Some days, our horses roam the property, and every day, our dog will stop to say hello. In the fall, you'll also hear the elk bugle. But be warned, the wind might wake you with its own loud lullaby. In the morning, watch for deer crossing on the hillside, or step across the drive to view the elk and buffalo on the neighbor’s game ranch.
The outdoor bathroom facility is built from a large culvert and includes a pit toilet and solar-heated shower. A propane fire pit is also provided as well as private parking in front of the Silo.
We get good cell service and data connection with T-Mobile at The Silo. The wifi is being extended from the house, so it's strong enough to check your email but not capable of streaming movies or video chatting. However, high speed internet is available at the Sunroom, which is a short walk away.
At the Sunroom, the enclosed porch on the front of our house, we offer coffee and simple snacks/ breakfast items, an assortment of cold drinks and water, and high-speed wi-fi. It's all self-serve and available anytime during daylight hours.
We welcome a house trained and well behaved pet (maximum 1) who likes to sleep in their own bed on the floor and gets along well with other dogs. We provide pet bowls and sheets; please bring your own pet bed, food, and other supplies.
Your rate includes snacks and drinks in the Sunroom and the standard one-hour cleaning service. If extra cleaning is needed—for example, for very dirty dishes, trash left outside, or pet hair on bedding—an additional $25 per hour may apply.
During the summer, you can access the Silo in a 2-wheel drive car, but the roads can get bumpy or muddy quickly (check out the road video by scanning the QR code in the photos). We recommend driving a vehicle with 4-wheel drive in late fall to early spring as the weather can be unpredictable. If you aren't sure, please ask us about the current conditions of the road.
We will send you a reservation confirmation message shortly after you book your stay, and we will send you another message either the day before or the day of your arrival. If you make your reservation through Expedia, please check your VRBO account and/or email for our messages. Sometimes these messages go to your junk mail, so please check your spam folder too if you haven't heard from us!

This place is such a unique and beautiful place! Obviously, it is kind of glamping, but as an actual camper, this felt like the Ritz! I enjoyed everything, especially their sweet, sweet dog Patch.
Close proximity to Grand Mesa/Fishing/Hiking/Motor-Biking
Quick stay to get early access to the mesa for fishing. Will look to stay longer next time. Haven't seen that many stars in a while! Love the location.
Wonderful unique stay away from everyone. If you want a different experience, this is it. Wonderful deck on the outside to sit and look at the stars. Great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of life.
If you're up for an adventure and beautiful views than this vrbo is it! Staying at the Silo was a great experience for my husband and I. We didn't even mind using the clean covert bathroom. The host(s) Clint were very kind and accommodating. The pictures don't do the Silo justice! So cool!!! The Silo and views are spectacular! We fished at Vega Resivoir, ate on the Mesa, and relaxed at the Silo! If you're wanting to see the big dipper and milky way, find quiet and solitude, enjoy nature, this is the place! Serenity for sure! We'll be back for sure in the fall. My favorite vrbo so far... Side note: The wind does come n go but just part of nature.
We absolutely loved our time at the Silo! The views are amazing and the atmosphere matches. We were so glad that we chose not to tent camp on the Mesa this time. We arrived in a rain storm with ou Pizza and Artichoke dip from Mountain High Pie in Colbran.(AMAZING) The sound of the rain on the Silo was so calming. The Elk and Buffalo next door were also a great viewing experience. Most of all we loved having Maggie, one of the sweetest dogs on earth hang out with us while we were at the property. She was a great companion and we’re very blessed to have met her. We will be back soon. Great everything for a couple to get away for a weekend!

Why they chose this property
The Silo sits just down the hill from our house. We built it in 2020 for our kids to stay in when they come home to visit. It's a great little retreat; sometimes our kids still stay in it just for fun! If you need anything, it’s easy enough to find us, and we’re happy to help. However, please expect some activity and noise as we go about our day, and we will do our very best to respect your peace and privacy.
