About this property
Convenient Cabin For Boating, Hiking, ATVing, Fishing, and R&R,
This charming four seasons cabin overlooking the Vega Reservoir, is located adjacent to Vega State Park in Mesa County. The Vega State Park, at an elevation of 7700 feet, is located in Unit 421 and offers thousands of acres of public land for ATVing, hiking, sightseeing, camping, hunting, and snowmobiling. The deep waters of the Vega Reservoir offer recreational boating and year round fishing.
The cabin, which is decorated in a western, rustic theme, comes fully stocked for your stay. All you need to bring is food and beverages, and your personal items. The cabin is unique in that the water is supplied via cisterns located in the lower crawl space. There are 3 cisterns which hold a total of approximately 600 gallons of water, which we haul from nearby Collbran. We do not have a well. We seek renters who are responsible, respectful, water conscious, and who will treat our cabin as if it were their own. We have recently installed a low volume flush toilet which helps greatly with the water usage. If you are comfortable flushing only when it's "yellow" or every other time, we would appreciate it. We don't demand water conservation, but appreciate and encourage efforts to conserve this valuable mountainside cabin commodity. If you are considering renting our cabin and are not comfortable with the water conservation practices, this is not a good fit. Conservation measures will in turn help us keep our rental fees down, which in turn will benefit our guests.
The cabin is approximately 900 square feet. The kitchen, dining, and living room area is an open concept design. The kitchen is fully furnished and ready for meal preparation. The wood stove in the living room provides ample and very efficient heating for the winter months or cool spring and fall mornings and evenings. All windows have been replaced. The bedroom has a gueen size bed and closet. The bathroom, between the bedroom and kitchen, has a vanity sink, a newly remodeled tile shower, and toilet. There are doors on each side of the bathroom, and at the bedroom entrance to the living room, to allow privacy.
There is Roku TV and internet services. Cell service is available with cell phone on "WIFI calling". The internet service can be spotty, especially during inclement weather or if multiple users are online. The internet data package is reasonable for a cabin in the mountains. We appreciate limited streaming so as to leave data for the next renters.
There is a huge raised deck off the front of the house with spectacular, breathtaking views of the Vega Reservoir and surrounding mountains. During the day one can sun and relax on the deck, and in the evening sit around the chiminea on the deck and watch the evening boaters and stars.
The cabin is located in a small community of homes, a half a mile off a county maintained road. There is a circle drive with ample parking for a car, ATV and trailer, or small boat.
If you are going to request a reservation, please save both you and I some leg work by providing the following information with your booking request: 1) Who exactly will be staying at the cabin and what are your approximate ages. 2) What is the nature of your interest in the cabin and the area? 3) Where will you be traveling from? (So as we can provide recommended travel routes.) 4) Please acknowledge that you have read the full description of the cabin and agree to the house rules. If you don't provide this information, we will be asking prior to accepting a reservation. We vet our potential renters carefully and feel that this has contributed to renter satisfaction and experience (as is reflected in our reviews) as well as a successful owner rental property.
Thank you and we look forward to having you enjoy this piece of paradise soon!

We had a great time on our 5 day stay. Everything we needed was provided and we were given some great information for directions and info on the area. Was a very pleasant stay!
Absolutely perfect little mountain cabin stay to escape the city and the busy life! Beautiful views, wildlife and nice cool weather to rest and recharge. Wonderful host, warm and welcoming cabin with all the best amenities that make you feel right at home.
As a return visitor, I am always pleased with the condition of the property and how clean and welcoming this cabin is. Favorite spot is the deck. What a beautiful place to sit out overlooking the lake with your morning coffee.
Spectacular time at Sally & Rich’s cabin! They were so communicative about check in, getting there, activities, and really anything one could ask for. The cabin itself was a dream - as advertised & a perfect view, it was a lovely weekend retreat. Would love to stay again! Thank you!!
This is a great cabin, it's well stocked, clean, has the cutest decor and a view to die for. The area has great fishing just down the road and some hikes around the lake to. Definitely a must do.
We are return visitors and have never been disappointed in our stay and this charming lake retreat. The hosts are so helpful and answer all questions promptly. The cabin is cozy, clean and welcoming. What a beautiful view from the deck each morning!
Had a wonderful stay. Hosts Sally and Rich do everything they can to make sure this cozy mountain cabin is welcoming and our stay memorable. We sipped cocktails at sunset and had our morning coffee from the beautiful deck overlooking the lake. What a great Colorado mountain/lake retreat!
We have stayed at this cozy mountain cabin overlooking the lake many times. It's always clean and welcoming and there is plenty of wildlife right outside the front door to entertain us. The deck is a wonderful place to have morning coffee or an afternoon glass of wine. The hosts are wonderful and easy to work with - always concerned with their guests comfort. Great stay!
A wonderful cabin with modern amenities and memorable view. The host was helpful during every stage and shared several nice recommendations on what to do in the area. Wonderful location and the cabin is excellent. The decor fits the cabin in every way and is really well done. Being close to fishing and numerous trails really made this location perfect. The view from the cabin is stellar and really makes the morning coffee and evening meal special. Look forward to staying here again someday. Thank you!
The cabin and view was so so beautiful and Sally and Rich were nothing but amazing and super sweet. Very accommodating and already thinking about when we will be back next. Made my girlfriend and I's first anniversary very special and memorable.
My wife and I absolutely loved our stay! The place is clean, comfortable, adequately supplied is an understatement and the view! We're on a first name basis with the hummingbirds. We'll work on the deer again next year. The owners are wicked nice and were completely available during our stay. Communication with them before and during our stay was outstanding. We'll be back!
Sally and Rich’s place was so awesome! It was very secluded so this would be a great place if you want to go somewhere far away from people and enjoy the local parks.
The house was super clean and the natural light that surrounded in thanks to the windows came in handy when we wanted to watch the run rise. The water was never a issue and the temp when we went in the beginning of June was awesome inside! Even with it getting cooler at night it was perfect.
Sally and rich made sure our stay was perfect and it showed down to the little welcome card they left us! Thank you guys again we will be back!!
My wife and I stayed here for a long weekend to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. We couldn’t have chosen a better property. The cabin in and of itself was cozy, clean, and equipped with everything we needed for our stay. But the location, with the view from the deck, made this one of the best places we’ve ever stayed. Vega reservoir is beautiful and the trout fishing was top notch while we were there. Would definitely recommend staying at this property!
