Mark and Colleen’s cabin was the best of the best! We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. It way exceeded our expectations! Took our breath away! It reminded us of earlier times when we lived on the east coast near the Adirondacks. No detail was forgotten. Loved the hot tub and surrounding area too. An impeccable stay! Thank you!

2nd Stay: Great experience. Best Sunset!

Love this property. I've stayed there before and the sunset view is astounding. Love watching the birds and the boats go by. It's like a small home away from home for me.

Fantastic little cabin

We enjoyed our two week stay in this great little cabin. The view is priceless and the location to South Whidbey state park is very close. The cabin is suited greatly for a couple to enjoy the view, soak in the hot tub and relish in the peace and quiet of the area. Seeing an occasional submarine sail by was amazing. Can't recommend this location enough.

Spectacular view! Very relaxing…

We loved our stay here. It was a great base from which to explore Whidbey Island. Afterwards, we’d come back and lay in the hammock or sit on the wrap-around deck watching the boats and shops go by in Admiralty Inlet. Very relaxing! We were there during the Perseids so loved having the hot tub yo watch the stars at night. Mark was an attentive host and made sure we had what we needed.

Perfect Whidbey getaway

What a great place! Warm, cozy, very familial, not formal or stuffy. It felt like someone’s home, rather than a vacation rental. Mark and Colleen are great, super friendly hosts; very responsive and full of information about the island. Great view out over the Sound, well located to reach any of the many Whidbey features easily. The house has everything you need for a relaxing escape from the urban jungle. Simply a quiet, peaceful retreat, we will be back!

Haven't relaxed this much in years

This cabin was exceptionally clean and organized, we loved the peace and quiet afforded by the back porch overlooking the sound. Watching, boats and ships alike navigate through. Lots of birds, lots of bunnies and a buck and doe wandering around. The hot tub was a major hit, the view from it was fantastic. Mark and Colleen were exceptionally helpful, the island has a lot to offer and many ways to spend time. Like I mentioned above, I haven't relaxed that much in years!

Cushy Cabin with a view!

The intent of our visit was to curl up inside an amazing cabin, enjoy it for its amenities, relax and enjoy nature. We arrived after a snow storm making travel on the island scary for those unfamiliar with the conditions-- Mark checked on us and made sure we had everything we needed-- We had no need or desire to leave again the rest of our weekend with the comfortable furnishings, the well stocked cabin, warm fire place, hot tub and amazing views especially for winter sunsets.

Excellent livation with a view!

My adult son and i stayed at this cabin and were so happy during our time there. The view was perfect! We were just a short drive to coffee, grocery, and lovely drives to Whidbey sights. The property is in a very quiet neighborhood with deer, bunnies and quail. All of the rooms were very clean and well appointed. We had zero issues and appreciated the easiest check in and checkout. The hosts are incredibly wsrm and helpful. We were even able to check in earlier!! We plan on returning. 😄

OMG! Great Place! Truly!

We had such a wonderful time here! We are going to stay again! We can't choose what was our favorite. Between the view, the hot tub, the fireplace, all the woodland creatures, and the ships passing by, we were constantly entertained. This is the perfect "base camp" to return to everyday after exploring the many wonders that Whidbey Island has to offer! 5 Stars!... Wait, 10 stars!...No, wait...100 stars! OK, you get it....we LOVED this place. Have fun if you stay here, you will not be disappointed. :)

Quiet little spot

The view, deck, and hot tub make this stay totally worth it. It was a perfect little spot away that felt like a stay at grandma’s house. The cabin is older and could use some updates in some areas, but the older cozy charm is a nice getaway. Mark was so sweet and friendly and called before and after our stay, which was appreciated. We had just two concerns during our stay. The back door had no lock, which was a little concerning. It was a quiet area, but still concerning when staying in an unknown space. Also, the bathroom hadn’t been cleaned between guests. The shower wall and bathroom floor had hair that wasn’t our’s, and the toilet and sink could have used a little clean. But overall, a great stay and would stay there again.

Spring Break Getaway

I was looking for a relaxing place to stay on or near the ocean to rejuvenate. There were several matches to my search, but this quaint cabin became the top of my husband and my list. It’s not on the ocean, but there is a spectacular view of it. The house has a western view of Puget Sound and Olympic Mountains. There is a hot tub where you can still see the ocean and mountains. It was heavenly sitting out in the tub watching the sunset. Also, sitting on the porch and watching/listening to all of the birds enjoying the bird feeder was also a relaxing treat. I just wanted to listen to the birds anytime it was light out. The cabin has a great location to see the sights on the island. On our first full day there, we drove an hour and 20 minutes to LaConner for the annual Tulip Festival. It is only during April, and we were lucky the weather and tulips both cooperated. During our visit, we also went to Deception Pass State Park, the tiny town of Coupeville, the Price Sculpture Forest, Fort Casey, Joseph Whidbey State Park, Greenbank Cidery, Meerkerk Rhododendron Garden, Double Bluff Beach, and ate several times from Pickles Deli inside Ken’s Corner. We own a Tesla, so charging the car was a worry for us. Luckily, we were able to plug it in to the outside of the house, and we didn’t need to stop at a charger for 4 days! The owners have helpful signs, maps, and travel tips in the house. They were also quick to both call and text us details on the house. They’re great!!

About the host

Hosted by Mark and Colleen

Host profile image
My wife, Colleen, and I met on Whidbey Island many years ago. We have lived in different parts of the country over the years, but always called Whidbey, home.

We live a few miles from The Hideaway, but will never 'bother' you while your are enjoying your stay. If you need something, anything, we are just a phone call away!

Why they chose this property

The South West side of Whidbey Island is very charming, beautiful, rural, and not that far from Seattle. There is a strong community presence and quite a strong artistic pulse, which we thoroughly enjoy. We chose our location 'up' from the water, because being right on the water can be windy and cold, even in the summer! We also enjoy the privacy, and that's hard to find living on the waterfront. Too many other houses!

What makes this property unique

We have a very loyal and large base of people who have used our place over the past 20 years. They tell us it's like a second home to them. We have tried to make all our guests feel that way. Because it is on an acre of land it also offers an abundance of privacy, vegatation and wildlife (Deer, eagles, pheasant, rabbits, etc) along with a great water and mountain view. Our birdfeeders bring in all kinds of interesting birds.
