MOTORCYCLES: Not recommended due to gravel road. ROADS: We drive a front wheel drive minivan and rear wheel drive SUV. Home is 0.3 miles up a typical mountain curvy gravel road. If you are not use to mountain roads they are narrow and can be a little intimidating at first but are part of the adventure of getting to a cabin in the woods. Gravel road can get challenging with a lot of rain or snow if not use to them. They really do change depending on the weather. We do not recommend a low riding car. If you are not use to mountain roads, we would recommend a large SUV or 4-wheel drive.
Easy contact-less check-in.
Home is located at the end of a cul-de-sac in Cherry Log Community. It is between Blue Ridge (5.9mi) and Ellijay (12mi). Road leading up to home is paved until the last 0.3 miles which is all gravel. Please follow directions we sent and not GPS.
Home is located in Cherry Log Mountain community. There are trails throughout the community that can be accessed by walking down the roads. There is an abundance of wild life so keep a look out for Deer, Turkeys or Bear. There are 2 lakes towards the back. We would recommend downloading the Far Out App and get the Benton MacKaye trail off of it for hiking trails throughout the community. The Benton MacKaye trail can be accessed by walking down the hill from our cabin we have stairs leading down to it (once at the road look for the metal ramp and follow the trail with white diamonds) or you can walk down the gravel road 0.3 miles to the creek and jump on the trail. I can send you a map as well. The Benton MacKaye is over 300 miles long!
In addition to the trails in Cherry Log we are 7 miles from downtown Blue Ridge where you will find lots of antique shops and restaurants. Hike the famous Appalachian Trail, visit Fall Branch Falls, or spend the day on the waters of Lake Blue Ridge. There is also the Expedition Bigfoot, Sasquatch Museum right down the road. The small town of Ellijay is about 13 miles South where you will find more antiques shops and restaurant. It is also known for its mountain bike trails. The roads in the community are mountain roads. If you are not use to them the first time might be a little intimidating but then they become part of the adventure.

The host was very friendly and accommodating. She also provided very detailed information on the property and how to use all the amenities. Other than a cleaning person banging aggressively on the door at 9:55 am demanding us to leave it was a great stay!

Thank you so much! We are glad you loved your stay! I am sorry about the cleaners coming early and knocking on the door, I will be sure to discuss that with them.
The cabin was super cozy and very clean, the view was great and our puppy had a great time, the owner was very responsive and helpful, would recommend 1000%!
Perfect getaway for our family. We love the trail at the house and the ability to get right on the Benton McKaye (sp) from it. Very quiet and secluded. Can’t wait to go back!

Cozy and secluded cabin in the woods.
Easy check-in and all necessities available.
Nice view from comfy porch swing.
Bear Necessities is a perfect spot for a quick mountain getaway. The cabin is small but has everything needed for a relaxing vacay. We loved everything about this cabin and would definitely stay there again.
Beautiful cottage. Cozy and secluded. Great place to get away from it all and just relax. Really enjoyed our stay and would like to return in the Spring.
Nice and cozy had two fires out side at night with a glass of wine. Cooked some steaks on the outside pit one night and used the hot tub it’s so nice the way it’s placed out side by the woods. We loved our stay the inside had everything we needed.
everything was great. Owners were easy to deal with. They even suggested trails to hike that are perfect for familys that aren't regular hikers. Amazing porch.. Great shopping and restaurants near by.
The cabin was perfect for our annual getaway. Everything we needed was supplied and the weather was perfect. Ashly and Chad were great host and we were given some good ideas for daily excursions by them through their welcome binder. We highly recommend Bear Necessities for your next trip to Blue Ridge
The cabin is great, very easy to find and the instructions on getting there and getting in were all very clear. The memory foam mattress was fantastic and helped me get some incredible sleep. Would not hesitate to recommend this property to couples or to a family with one or two small children.

Thank you! So glad you enjoyed the views and fire pit!!
Bear Necessities was the perfect cabin for us! My husband and I booked this trip to relax and getaway for a few days. It met all of our expectations and Ashly even checked on us after our first night. It’s a beautiful cabin and was very quiet and peaceful. It’s very close to many great restaurants and attractions. The temps at the end of September were in the low 50’s and high 70’s.
My husband and I grabbed the opportunity to head to Blueridge for a quick 3 day trip before the mayhem of 5 adult children and their families come to our home this weekend for Thanksgiving. The cabin was the perfect place to relax and return to nature. We are rejuvenated and ready for the crazy to start. We will be back!!
We very much enjoyed the stay at our mountain cabin. It was in a good location, close to Blue Ridge, but felt out in the mountains - not too crowded with only one other cabin in site from our place. It was stocked with all the basics and clean. I only had to reach out to the owners once and had a very quick response. I highly recommend it!

So glad you loved the location and found everything you needed.
Loved it! We especially liked the recommended walking trail leaving right from the property - perfect length for my kids.
I somehow lost/deleted the check in details email (I know this is on me because I remember seeing it!) and they responded right away to help me with the code.
My whole family loved everything about this place and we hope to return!
Blown away by this private cottage just 8 minutes away from Blue Ridge. It’s perfect for 2 people, but could easily fit 4. The outdoor area sold us from the photos and absolutely loved it when we got there! Follow the directions that are provided when driving to the cabin, and make sure you have a car that can handle driving on gravel going up steep hills. We absolutely loved everything and would come back if we plan another trip to Blue Ridge.
My husband and I drove up from Orlando for my husband's birthday. Just a couple days to get away from everything with our two senior pups. Our host was quite gracious with accommodations including pet bowls for our girls. The home has such a charming feel with touches of upgrades throughout. If glamping is your thing, you won't be disappointed. It was perfect for us and we will be back!

We add pet bowls for one less thing to pack. I love that you said glamping.... I haven't thought of that but we do try to be luxury in a rustic cabin :)

My husband and I have 3 kids. We love to travel to Ellijay and Blue Ridge. Bear Necessities is the perfect location as it puts us in-between both of these towns. We are always exploring new trails and waterfalls in the area. The trails are amazing and our kids love "going on an adventure." When its a weekend without the kids we love hunting for treasure in the antique stores and visiting the wineries. Bear Necessities is a blend of our style as we love mixing old with new. I hope you like it as much as we do!
Why they chose this property
As soon as we walked into Bear Necessities I knew it was for us. Its a cabin that will take you away from all the hustle of everyday life. We have 3 small children (8,5,3) that are growing way to fast. The cabin allows us to all be close together and just enjoy the moments.
