Clean apartment with comfy bed, and the best towels I've ever used at a vrbo. Proximity to the prison was great. It's literally right across the street. The history and the connection to the prison made the overall experience even better. Will definitely stay the next time we come for a ghost tour.
Met in Jeff City for a concert in the park. Perfect location close to many local eateries. (Plate & Pour bakery/cafe for breakfast is a must!). Interesting & cozy home was the perfect place to catch up with friends over a bottle of wine while relaxing on the porch.
The place had plenty of room. Was clean and street parking was easy, right in front of the place. Quiet area, maybe it is busier during the week. About 30 minutes from Mizzou driving down a open highway most the drive.
Parker's place was a very relaxing place for our family to hang out! The apartment was very clean, and Kevin was very responsive and attentive. Parker's Place is very accessible to downtown Jefferson City. We were able to walk to several restaurants, and visited several downtown highlights, such as the Capitol, the Governor's Garden, and Adrian's Island. We look forward to coming back!
Fascinating history of a beautiful old home. Only here for a night but appealed to our historic interests. Beautiful structures on Capitol Ave - wish they could all be restored. Glad we had the chance to stay.
The access code didn't work, manager didn't answer phone, and doesn't sleep 6, only two beds. Upstairs tenant heard us, came down and called someone who answered only to send us to a building next door, the access code worked there but someone was inside sleeping, so they sent us back to parker's place where there is a king bed and sofa pull out, no way that sleeps six. Without the tenant we wouldn't have even got into the place. Still no response from manager on VRBO.

Disliked: Cleanliness, amenities, communication
I am disabled. We rented this property because the advertisement said the property came with a hot tub, which helps with my pain level when I travel. There was no hot tub. I messaged the manager about it and never received a reply. The photos show easy access and a nice concrete walkway that would make it easy to get our suitcases, etc. into the house. The entry pictured is not even where you are renting. You rent an apartment on the side and back of the property. There is a steep rise from the street, steep stairs, then stairs up to the porch that have no handrail. One of the main things I was looking forward to was the unobstructed view of the capitol building for the 4th of July fireworks display. We found one spot in the apartment where you could see a small bit of the display if you stood at the bedroom window and looked past the addition on the back of the building. The door code was changed once we were already on the road to the destination and we had to find a place with free wi-fi in an unfamiliar city before I could pull up the e-mail and find out why we couldn't get into the apartment. Once in, my husband went into the bathroom and there was urine all over the rim of the toilet. All of the dishes looked spotted and dirty. Absolutely was not the weekend that I had planned or what was promised by the ad. I was extremely disappointed.
Parker's Place is literally steps from the Penitentiary and Museum. Both were quite interesting. The location is convenient to about anything. The king bed was luxurious and comfortable. Everything was clean and as described. The house and history were really cool! Be sure to use your phone cam to scan the QR code on the card on the table for history of Mr. Parker, as well as check out the books on the desk. We had our own bag chairs in the car and enjoyed using them to sit out on the oversized (shared) front porch when the rain came in. Be sure to look down the street to see the Capital lit up at night. It's beautiful! Places we enjoyed while in town: Oscar's for breakfast!; Sweet Smoke bbq; Last Flight Brewing Co.; Prison Brews (cool gimmick with good food) and Canterbury Hill Winery (outdoor dining).
House is right across the street from the State Pen for tours and the museum. Also right down the street to the State Capital. Very easy to find. Entrance is on the side of the house.
The space was very roomy and the bed incredibly comfortable. Extra everything, towels, pillows, etc.
Visiting my mother who is in assisted living in JC and it was a perfect location . We picked her up every day and spent the afternoons in the apartment. She isn’t very mobile, but was able to access the apartment easily. It was a great visit as we were able to get her away from her assisted living facility and spend time with her in a comfortable setting.
We walked every evening after returning mom to her assisted living. Great neighborhood for walking. Quiet location as well.
Thank you.
I cannot express enough how much we enjoyed our stay. Not only is the property super cool but the property owner was easy to communicate with and made sure everything was perfect. I will 110% recommend this place to everyone.
We visited the Missouri Capitol and old state prison and were excited to stay in the proximity. The location was ideal, as we rode our bikes and walked to several of the sites and restaurants. Kevin was a gracious host, attentive, and had everything ready for us. Thanks for suggesting the locked back sunporch for our bikes, most appreciated! The apartment itself was beautiful, grand, tall, big but comfortable and relaxing – and clean! Historic meets highly functional. The ease of using the digital punch code to get in and the wifi was blazing fast. A great experience and we will be back to stay again!!
We’re from Jefferson City and absolutely love sharing our hometown with visitors. This city has such a unique blend of history, beauty, and small-town charm — from the grand architecture along Capitol Avenue to the quiet streets that seem to tell their own stories. Hosting at Parker’s Place gives us the chance to welcome guests into that experience — to help them see what makes this river town so special. We take pride in offering a comfortable, memorable stay where people can slow down, explore, and feel right at home in the heart of our capital city.
Why they chose this property
The neighborhood around Parker’s Place is one of the most historic and character-filled areas in Jefferson City. From the front porch, you can look across Lafayette Street to the Missouri State Penitentiary Museum and watch visitors come and go for the famous prison tours. Just a block north, the Missouri River winds past the city, and a short walk west brings you to the State Capitol and downtown shopping and restaurants. From one of the front porch rocking chairs, the elegant old architecture and calm pace of the neighborhood make it easy to imagine life here a hundred years ago — slower, simpler, and beautifully timeless.
What makes this property unique
What makes Parker’s Place unique is its rare combination of history, beauty, and location. Built in 1901, this neoclassical mansion is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and sits at one of Jefferson City’s most historic intersections — Capitol Avenue and Lafayette Street. From the front steps, you can see the Old Missouri State Penitentiary, the Prison Museum, and you’re just a short walk from the State Capitol, downtown restaurants, and the Katy Trail along the river. Inside, the home blends old-world craftsmanship — high ceilings, tall windows, rich wood trim, and elegant details — with modern comfort and thoughtful restoration. It’s a place that feels both grand and welcoming, where guests can experience Jefferson City’s history in a way no other property offers.
