About this property
Cool West Sedona canyon retreat - wildlife and mountain views, walk to trails
Whether you’re an adventurous traveler who loves to hike or one who prefers to unwind with a few good books during your well-earned vacation, we believe you'll love our family’s pet-friendly hideaway. It backs to a private canyon that offers frequent wildlife visits, a lush desert landscape and red rock views.
Our property is especially popular with squadrons of javelinas (collared peccaries) who regularly traipse through the back canyon, mostly single-file, with babies trying to keep pace with their elders. It's quite a sight to see! It's also the reason we gave our place the nickname "Javelina Haven."
From the great room, breakfast nook, dining area, primary bedroom and the wraparound patio, you’ll not only witness the wildlife visits, but will also see the formations known as Thunder Mountain, Three Golden Chiefs and Sugarloaf. The scenic Sugarloaf Trailhead, which provides hiking and mountain bike access to a host of trails, is about two short blocks from our vacation home.
Need to work remotely during your trip? We have you covered with free, fast WiFi. Imagine yourself sitting on the patio savoring the cool mountain air while logging into work.
From the luxury mattresses and high-quality bed linens to the thick cotton towels in the bathrooms; from the great room’s kiva fireplace and smart TV to the well-stocked kitchen with all newer appliances and granite countertops, you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how our place brings you so much value for your traveling dollars. Oh, and should you wish to wash some clothes during your visit, there is a fully-equipped laundry room for your use.
Our custom built, three-bedroom, two-bath Pueblo-style home is tucked away in the quiet, semi-rural “Coffee Pot” neighborhood near the rock formation of the same name. Our getaway is on Maxwell House Drive. You’ll see other streets carrying similarly vintage coffee brand names to carry out the theme: Sanborn, Farmer Brothers, and Nescafe. Our major cross street, off Highway 89, is Coffee Pot Drive. It’s clear that those who laid out the area's streets had some fun naming them!
Get away from it all. Enjoy a stay at our Javelina Haven.

Javelina Haven is an oasis in the Sedona desert, and it was the perfect spot for us to do some of our favorite hikes and rides right from the front door. We had an incredible time and would love to stay again!
Very spacious house in a quiet west Sedona neighborhood. The backyard was very relaxing with views of the hills and the sugarloaf mountain trails were a short walk away. The house had everything that we needed and was very comfortable
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. Close to many hiking trails, uptown and local stores. If available, we'd like to stay at this property again in the future
Beautiful home in a perfect location! HIGHLY recommend! Everything we needed for a fantastic stay in amazing Sedona. Kitchen was just like home, the beds were comfy, and beautiful views surrounded us. A bobcat walked right by us while we were enjoying the patio! Our host was very accommodating as well.
Kitchen was very well stocked. We ate most meals in. Bedrooms were lovely and plenty of extra bedding. The fireplace was wonderful—we used it morning and night. We didn’t see javelinas in the yard, but we walked to the sugarloaf trailhead (5minute walk) and saw them there 2 different mornings. We would stay there again.
We absolutely loved our time at this lovely and very peaceful home! Everything is provided for and a popular hike (with a small parking lot) is only a couple blocks walk away. The outdoor area is very private. Carol the owner was very helpful with any questions we had. We will definitely be back!!
We really enjoyed our stay at this property. The openness of the floor plan was really welcoming. We enjoyed the privacy of the backyard and appreciated the mountain views out of the kitchen windows. Everything was available in the way of utensils, dishes, cookware, bakeware etc. Nicely appointed. We stayed with our grown son and his fiancée and our dog. We would stay there again for sure.
Wonderful location close to everything in Sedona. Lots of hikes very close by. The house was a great place to relax after a day of hiking. Comfortable beds, very clean and plenty of space for our family of five. We would definitely stay here again.
My family enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay again. The house was perfect!

About the host
Hosted by Carol Cormaci
I am Carol Cormaci and I'm a native Southern Californian. My primary residence is in Pasadena, Calif. Our family bought our home in Sedona to have a getaway in the Red Rock Country of Arizona. The hiking opportunities are seemingly endless and our house is just a short walk from the Sugarloaf Trailhead. I'm fascinated by the ancient Native American ruins that can be found all over Northern Arizona, and love the fact the house can be a base for such explorations. I'm truly inspired by the extraordinary beauty of Sedona.
Why they chose this property
The semi-rural setting of our house, which we've nicknamed 'Javelina Hiaven' provides a quiet, private place in which we can unwind. Yet, just a few minutes away are two well-stocked supermarkets and all the other services and amenities one might expect in an average-sized city, including restaurants, movie theaters, golf courses, art galleries, shopping opportunities and more, all surrounded by the amazing scenery.
What makes this property unique
The teeming wildlife! The little canyon our house backs up to is like a small nature preserve. Some guests have described their ability to watch javelinas, mule deer, bobcats, coyotes, rabbits and a wide variety of birds from our windows is like being in a wildlife blind. And at night, stargazing from the back patio is just amazing.
