Step through the door and you're transported into the soul of an old European style cottage, where each space comes together into something that feels less like a rental and more like a world of its own. Every detail of this two-bedroom home has been assembled over decades with a collector's eye: antique furnishings, carved woodwork, terracotta floors, and exquisite framed art. The little decorative treasures tucked in every corner make you feel like you're exploring a beautifully curated antique shop. The effect is warm, layered, and genuinely beautiful, making you slow down the moment you walk through the door.
Two gas fireplaces, a jetted tub, a fully stocked kitchen with china, quality beds with top-shelf linens, and a sun-drenched reading room mean every comfort is accounted for. Wake up to sweeping mountain views and overlook a lush pasture with apple trees. The Tudor-style windows frame it all like paintings you never get tired of looking at. Just across the street you may pet the horses and goats, and collect fresh eggs from the chickens. Take a stroll on the quiet NC scenic byway that winds past the property and is surrounded by century old oak trees. Light a fire with the click of a button, pour something warm, and remember what it feels like to truly unwind. The rest of the world has completely fallen away, yet downtown Banner Elk is just two minutes down the road.

If you want to be transported out of reality for a while - this is a great place to stay. This cottage is a destination. You could explore this place for a day or longer. So charming and full of beautiful antiques. The property and the farm animals make it so special. The owners are fabulous and make you feel so welcome. Will definitely be back for a longer stay.

Thank you for the feedback and for being a great guest!
My wife and I enjoyed our weekend away! The house was clean and beautiful and only a few minutes away from downtown! Excellent restaurants and shops close by. Barely 10 minutes from skiing.
I was so excited when i saw this listing and seeing it in person did NOT disappoint. It was even better than expected! The owners were so kind and helpful and I loved getting to spend time with the farm animals! Make sure you bring an apple or two for Dusty!
My daughter and I enjoyed our overnight stay. Everything was perfect. The cottage was cozy and comfortable with a beautiful view of the mountains. We loved how Dusty (the horse) greeted us each time we crossed the street. Felt like an old English cottage and we will definitely go back. The house was decorated with an attention to detail that exceeded our expectations.

Thank you for choosing to stay at wildflower. We appreciate your comments which help us to continue providing a great experience for our guests.
This home was like living in an historic novel, stepping into another time but with the modern touches needed for a comfortable stay. We enjoyed cooking a couple of family meals in the darling kitchen with the gorgeous upgraded appliances and we were so close to Banner Elk to dine in some great restaurants and shopping. The breathtaking mountain views, serenity of the pasture with farm animals as well as the period decor and amazing architecture made our stay different from the norm in the best way!
This is our second time staying at the Wildflower Cottage. It is difficult to describe the beauty and peace that surrounds every aspect of this property. The pictures of the interior cannot capture the artistry of the design, craftsmanship, and decor. It is a peaceful refuge for the soul and we look very forward to our next stay.

We are pleased yo hear your comments expressing the positive experience and appreciation of detail!
Wow! Was the word used over and over during our stay. We LOVED everything about this cottage. The location, the scenery, the farm animals, wildlife and antiques. So beautiful and peaceful. We want to come back and see more. Our biggest complaint is our stay was way too short. Thank you for wonderful memories.

Thank you for being an excellent guest, hope to see you again soon!
We enjoyed our stay at Wildflower Cottage. The house is lovely; everywhere we looked there were beautiful antiques and delightful architectural details. The fireplaces made it so cozy, and the view was stunning. The gardens were gorgeous, with great hardscape and pretty plantings for every season. The animals across the road were fun to watch, including a horse, two goats, and a dog named Arlo. A family of deer entertained us in the morning. The location was private and super quiet; we all slept well. Restaurants were easily accessible within a 5-minute drive. We only wish we could have stayed a little longer!

NC High Country meets cottage in the movie Random Harvest
Property met or exceeded all our expectations. It reminded us of a quaint English cottage in an old movie. Two sitting room areas look out over a beautiful valley in the North Carolina mountains.
Below the home you have a welcoming committee of two, a beautiful and friendly bay-colored horse and his constant companion a shaggy sheep dog.
If you like quaint, relaxing, and comfortable surroundings with privacy and natural beauty Wildflower Cottage is your place! All this and a short convenient drive to the charming village of Banner Elk.

Thank you for choosing to stay at wildflower cottage and we appreciate your feedback!
If you would like a luxurious place to stay in a beautiful mountain setting, this is your place! We thoroughly enjoyed the amazing design of the cottage and grounds, but it was the craftmanship and impeccable appointments that made it so special. The bonus is the farm-like atmosphere and the historical aspect of the property.
The cottage was easy to find and check in was a breeze. Our Host, Paul, was responsive with our pre-check-in questions, and was nearby if needed – although we felt incredibly pampered and did not want for anything. In fact, we enjoyed the property so much we cancelled our plans to explore the area and simply stayed ‘home’ to savor our privacy and luxury.
We have already recommended this property to several people, and would highly endorse it again. Thank you for a great stay!

We genuinely desire that our guests feel clean, safe, special and content with their visit to wildflower. We appreciate all comments which help us understand what we need to do to keep people satisfied. Thank you
This special home is truly magical! We cannot put into words how wonderful our stay was in this unique and stunningly beautiful property. Every comfort was afforded with modern conveniences throughout, yet the home feels and lives like an enchanting old country cottage straight out of the Cotswolds of England! The beds are great, linens top shelf, fully stocked kitchen complete with China, and 2 gas fireplaces that will warm you body and soul. Oh and the jacuzzi tub is sublime!
Located just outside of Banner Elk this property is perfectly situated for day trips to explore the quaint mountain towns, shopping and skiing in the area. Banner Elk itself had several fantastic restaurants! LP and Sorrento's were great, and The Tavern was great for cocktails and Pub Food!
At the end of each day we wondered down the home’s driveway to the horse pasture and fed the owners’ horse Dusty a carrot or two and said hi to the goats and chickens. The pictures on the site are great but don’t do the property justice. The views from the Tudor style windows are breathtaking! I didn’t want to leave! Stop looking and book this home before someone else does! Of special note: Paul, the owner of this family home is so very kind. He reached out to us when power was out in the area to be sure we were ok, and when I forgot my purse when we checked out, went out if his way to overnight it to me. Stellar experience start to end. I’d give 10 stars if I could!

You are so kind, it’s a blessing to cross paths with good folks like you!
We were utterly charmed from the moment we pulled in the driveway. The pictures of the interior are accurate but don't convey the warmth and overall feel of the home; so cozy and beautiful.
The feel of an English cottage in the NC mountains
This property had the feel of an English cottage in the North Carolina mountains. The owners decorated with beautiful antiques and items that show how things from linens to antique furniture were made in the past with true artistry and not just assembly line articles now sold in big box stores. Beautiful wood work throughout the home. Kitchen was well appointed and the 2 gas fireplaces were wonderful as we looked out to the mountains during this winter weekend. We found some wonderful dining places in Banner Elk and look forward to returning to see more of the town.
