Mountain Experience at its best!! With a massive, panoramic view, LongView is a large and spacious log cabin (2,600 sq. ft.) that is rustic and offers luxury elegance. LongView is a newly renovated and professionally decorated mountain cabin. Set in the Banner Elk subdivision of Grey Fox, a gated community, LongView is conveniently located within 5 minutes of both Sugar Mountain and Beech Mountain Ski Resorts with both offering fantastic year-round activities.

This cabin has a two-level wrap-around deck that offers numerous and various seating and dining. The decks provide a long and panoramic view of the beautiful mountains including the coveted Grandfather, Sugar, and Beech mountains.

As you enter LongView you will find a great room with a cathedral ceiling and floor-to-ceiling windows offering incredible views of the mountains. Adjoining the great room is the kitchen and dining area. This living area has a large stone fireplace with gas logs and a brand new 60” Smart HDTV and Dish Satellite over the mantel. Comfortable leather furniture completes the space. The Master Bedroom is on the main level and comes with a King bed, 55” Smart HDTV and private bathroom. Also on the main level is a 1/2 bath, laundry room, and pantry.

Upstairs provides a loft with a queen bed and another master bedroom with a King bed, 55” Smart HDTV and private bathroom.

Downstairs offers another bedroom with a King bed and two bunk beds. This also adjoins a full bathroom. Downstairs also provides another large Den/Rec room furnished with a large, comfortable sectional sofa (great for watching movies or relaxing after a day on the slopes), and 60” Smart HDTV with Dish Satellite.

You’ll love LongView because of the fantastic panoramic views, beautiful decorations and rustic mountain feel, 3 king beds with accommodations for 12, four large screen TVs, dual family areas, two-level deck, and fire pit. LongView is good for couples, families (with kids), business travelers, and groups. Our place is close to mountains, waterfalls, rivers and lakes, hiking and biking trails, golf, restaurants, horseback riding, wineries, skiing, tubing, sledding, whitewater rafting, and more.

This is a perfect location for all the High Country has to offer. Whether you want to ski, hike or sit on the deck and enjoy the view, LongView is as good as it gets! Everything is new, clean and much attention has been given to every detail.

Great place to stay for a group! The house was just like the photos online, very clean, and the view from the deck was amazing! This property is excellent! The location is awesome. You're close to Sugar and Beech ski resorts and groceries/shopping, but it feels like you're not. The house itself is nicely appointed and equipped with more than the appliances you'd expect, and has plenty of space for everyone. Everything is clean and comfortable. The windows and wrap around deck give unbelievable views.John is a great host. He's friendly, accessible and helpful. We have stayed at a number of his properties and will continue to do so.

The views were truly stunning and we enjoyed that part of the stay. A few things could be improved—such as the non-working hot tub and the need for updated pots and pans in the kitchen. We also would have appreciated knowing the trash rules beforehand, especially with Thanksgiving cooking. Families with small kids may find the space a bit challenging.

We appreciate the positive comments this guest had about our views. However, I am somewhat surprised about her comments regarding a hot tub. We don't advertise we have a hot tub, our property is not listed as having a hot tub, and our guests do not pay a hot tub fee. Therefore, why is this guest expecting a hot tub? We use to provide a hot tub but our guests continually did not take care of it, so we drained it , turned off the power, and fastened it closed! If this guest wants to rent a cabin with a hot tub they should rent SummitView, a home we have that is listed as having a hot tub. We continually maintain and update our properties and just replaced a number of pots and pans this summer. The trash rules are included in the rental agreement when the booking is made and also provided 3 days before check-in. Apparently this information was not reviewed. I'm not sure what the comments are about the "space a bit challenging". We have steps like all three story homes and have decorative items to make the home more comfortable and appealing. We have had hundreds of families in this home with hundreds of children…not sure why this home is so "challenging" for this family.

We enjoyed having these guests stay with us. We have easily fit 6 cars in this driveway that has a very slight curve. Unfortunately, when you have a cabin on the side of a mountain to have great views, you can't build a sprawling fire pit.

We absolutely loved our stay at this mountain cabin in Banner Elk. The cabin was clean, cozy, and perfectly tucked away for a peaceful mountain escape. The views were stunning, and we especially enjoyed relaxing on the porch each morning with a cup of coffee.The location was ideal, quiet and secluded, yet close to everything. There were plenty of activities within a short drive, from outdoor adventures and wineries to downtown Banner Elk’s great restaurants and shops.The host was wonderful, quick to respond, and made sure we had everything we needed. We’d happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing mountain getaway!

The home was perfect aside from the bee problem. I had to kill 20 live hornets/yellow jackets in the house on the main floor and bedroom. There were dead bees on the window sills when we arrived.

Our guest is right, we did have bees. However, once our guest told me about the problem, I immediately contacted our pest control service (that comes out on a quarterly basis) and had them come out that same day to spray and resolve the issue. The bees had made a nest in one of the vents of the home. I am glad this guest said the home itself was perfect. I only wish he would have commented on how accessible I was, how we quickly resolved the problem, and how I sincerely apologized for this problem. As you know, these types of problems can happen at anytime at any home (primary, 2nd home, vacation home). That is why we employ a pest control service.

My wife and I are originally from Kingsport, TN and Winston-Salem, NC, respectively. I attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville while my wife attended Appalachian State University right down the road in Boone, NC. I think we have always loved the mountains.
