Cozy, quiet 2nd-story getaway located next to the ski area.
TINY -- for only 1 person or for a couple.
Modern but VERY DATED and very rustic condo among several in the building and area. Full galley kitchen with dining at the counter or outside medium-sized deck.
NO TV SERVICES AT ALL.
Queen bed in a separate bedroom and a bathroom with a shower/bathtub located in the hall between the living room and bedroom.
Enjoy a wood-burning fireplace, wifi, and free parking right outside.
Located in the Village of Angel Fire on the way to the Ski Area.
A fully stocked grocery store is located conveniently a half-mile away for your provisions; and multiple food joints nearby, as well as along the main street a little further away.
The very high altitude and "dry" climate can cause nose bleeds and/or dry sinuses, and even headaches. If sensitive to that, bring nose moisturizer and appropriate medication. And body lotion.
The hot water heater works well for the shower and kitchen sink. It's potable water but bring bottled water if the tap water is not your preference -- lots of minerals. I cook and wash with it but I drink bottled water only when I'm there.
The stairway and door constitute a private entry. I will provide you with a passcode for the deadlock.
It is in a condominium building with other condos and condominium buildings around. The balcony is a decent size but runs flush against the next-door neighbor's -- so there may be limited privacy out there.
The stairway is a bit steep so Tree Top is best suited for ADULT GUESTS ONLY -- no children and pets. It can be slippery with snow and rain -- so please be careful!
The condo complex no longer provides satellite TV services. There is no smart TV or Roku. However, I believe the internet connection is strong enough to support those services -- BRING YOUR OWN LAPTOP WITH YOU.
"Tree Top" (my tiny condo home) is where you connect with nature, peace, each other, and yourself. To walk/hike, to ski, to read, to journal, to talk to one another, to rest/relax/recover/restore/recup - and to interact through games/puzzles. There are books and games inside and the great outdoors right out the door.
You can build a fire and watch it, or fill up the hummingbird feeder and watch them.
Everyday I hike. Just walk out the door and walk the opposite way on Vail Ave - and you will find wonderful and inspiring forest and views. I go for miles up and then back - and I even lose weight every time I'm there 'cause it is such a workout. (BRING WATER WITH YOU).
But you can also drive in your vehicle up there. It's beautiful.

Very comfortable and well-appointed condo. Conveniently located within walking distance from the ski resort. Vernon is a great host and we can confidently recommend this rental.
The location was absolutely beautiful. It was nearby and accessible to shopping and food, as well as the ski resort itself. Vernon, the host was a super host and thought of every detail. Thank you so much and we look forward to staying at your property again!
I was shocked to get a place so close to the resort for the price. Host was friendly and accommodating. Only problem is that the access road was frozen over which made getting in a bit of a hassle.
Everything as promised and an extremely nice renter who allowed us to reschedule due to a family emergency. The whole experience could not have been better.
Nice. Simple. Suggested to owner that ground coffee would be nice especially if there is a coffee pot in the kitchen. The bedroom area had a smell, but I'm sure this was a one-off since the property has had good reviews. Texted the owner about this. Overall, it was a nice place to stay.
It was a very cozy place and me and my husband enjoyed our stay! Our App didn’t work once we got in the mountains so we text our host and he got right back to us and we got there! Thanks! We look forward to going back!

About the host
Hosted by Vernon Silva
I am a descendant of Antonio de Silva and Gregoria Ruiz who arrived in Santa Fe in 1693 but eventually settled and lived out their life together in Albuquerque where I was born and raised.
My next-door neighbors' favorite vacation spot was nearby Red River where they would spend every summer. As they were elderly, I would accompany them to and from as they hauled a travel trailer; and eventually got to the point where I would spend the whole summer there. Each summer in high school I worked as a dishwasher and food server at the Red River Inn -- which still exists but no longer has a restaurant. I have the best boyhood memories of hiking, fishing, working, and making friends who were all there vacationing from Texas and Oklahoma.
These mountains - the Sangre de Cristos - will always be in my heart. I was fortunate to be able to take a 6-month sabbatical back in 2009 and chose these Northern New Mexico mountains to spend my time and become reacquainted.
Now I have my own little getaway. I am now that senior who spends summertime in the mountains of my home state.
Why they chose this property
I like that I can experience every season here -- spring, summer, fall, and winter -- and all that comes from each.
Angel Fire is not easy to get to from any direction -- you have to really want to be here in order to get here. So it attracts persons who value nature living among the hummingbirds and squirrels and deer; the pine cones; and the snow.
The climate is cool and revigorating and the air is clean.
What makes this property unique
Tree Top has the right mixture of nostalgia and modernity. It's rough around the edges - yet comfortable; it's quiet - yet near others so I feel safe and connected; and, it's in the middle of nowhere nowhere near an interstate - but a Walmart is only 25 miles away.
